Abstract

Analysis of The Entrepreneurial Intention’s Emergence at Business and non Business Students in Indonesia. Objective: This study confirm empirically the student entrepreneurial intentions (SEI) related to the study program, family background, students’ business experience; and describing the reflection of the SEI at several universities in Indonesia. Method: A survey-type quantitative approach, using descriptive, contingency, and CFA analysis. Findings: The Study programs have a relationship with the emergence of SEI. In addition, the family background in doing business and the student’s business experience did not show a relationship with SEI in business students, but against non-business students. Conclusion: Not only business study programs capable of arousing SEI, but non-business study programs can also trigger SEI, even though non-business study programs do not provide entrepreneurship learning as much as the business study program curriculum. This finding is interesting to discuss because it can explore what kind of business or non-business study programs can actually strengthen the SEI.Keywords: entrepreneurial intention, family background, business experience, study program, curriculum DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i1.202101

Abstract

EFL Students’ Perceptions and Experiences on the Utilization of Ling App in Learning Pronunciation. Objectives: This study investigates the use of the Ling app, an AI-driven tool, in learning pronunciation among EFL students in Islamic higher education. The research aimed to explore students' perceptions and experiences regarding the app's effectiveness in improving pronunciation skills. Methods: A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative data from questionnaires completed by 103 participants and qualitative data from interviews with 10 students. The questionnaire assessed perceptions of the app's usability and impact, while the interviews provided deeper insights into students' experiences and challenges. Findings: The findings indicate that the Ling app significantly enhances pronunciation proficiency, fosters learner confidence, and supports autonomous learning. Key features, such as speech recognition, real-time feedback, and gamified exercises, were particularly effective in enabling students to correct errors and practice independently. The app's interactive nature and gamification elements maintained student engagement and motivation. However, challenges were identified, including limited access to premium features, dependence on internet connectivity, and occasional inaccuracies in AI feedback when recognizing diverse accents. Despite these limitations, the app proved to be a valuable supplementary tool for pronunciation learning, offering flexible and engaging practice opportunities. The results underscore the app's potential to address significant gaps in traditional learning methods by providing self-paced and interactive learning experiences. Conclusion: The study concludes that the Ling app is a promising tool for EFL students, but further development is needed to enhance customization, address technical limitations, and cater to a wider range of learner needs, particularly in resource-constrained environments. Keywords: ling app, pronunciation, utilization.

Abstract

Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory Application in Home-based Laboratory Activities of Science Major Students in Microbiology. Objectives: This paper describes the experiences of science major students in doing their home-based laboratory activities in microbiology during the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is framed on Kolb’s experiential learning theory. Methods: Using criterion sampling, nine BSEd Science major participants were interviewed face-to-face to describe their experiences using phenomenological hermeneutics. Kolb’s theoretical constructs were used to thematically analyze the participants’ responses. Findings: It revealed that students prefer doing laboratory experiments at school than at home due to the availability of laboratory materials. Students experience difficulty in doing home-based laboratory activities due to the difficulty of providing alternative laboratory materials to complete the laboratory tasks at home. Nevertheless, students gain self-development skills such as communication skills and resourcefulness. Conclusion: Science major students in microbiology have developed skills in adapting to the changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby, they developed flexibility and resourcefulness in accomplishing their home-based laboratory activities.  Keywords: experiential learning theory, home-based laboratory activities, microbiology, phenomenology, science majors.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202333

Abstract

The Impact of a Spiritual Well-Being program on Preventing Quarter Life Crisis in Association Muhammadiyah Thailand Students. Objective: This program aims to provide preventive action in the form of spiritual well-being training to prevent Quarter Life Crisis among students in the Muhammadiyah Association of Thailand. Method: The quantitative research method approach with an experimental design of one group pretest and posttest design. This study was attended by 41 students of the Muhammadiyah Association of Thailand from the Faculty of Education, Fatoni University, Thailand. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique. Findings: The results of the independent sample t-test analysis showed a t-value of -5.583 with a degree of freedom (df) of 40, indicating a very significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. The significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 is less than 0.05 after the implementation of this training. This shows that the program is effective in reducing the level of quarter-life crisis in Thai Muslim students. This finding supports the theory that spiritual well-being helps individuals face life crises more meaningfully. This program strengthens the meaning of life, self-reflection, and Islamic values, which have been shown to increase resilience and inner peace. Conclusion: This program offers substantial advantages, including the enhancement of students' inner well-being, the reduction of tension, and the assistance in identifying the purpose of life and making informed decisions during the transition to early adulthood. These results have the potential to serve as a preventative measure for the quarter-life crisis. The implications encompass the enhancement of mental resilience, social relationships, and spirituality in the field of education. Despite the presence of challenges such as time constraints and disparities in comprehension, partner support is extremely beneficial. The outcomes of this training are incorporated into the learning process and will be implemented as a consistent program in order to provide students with the support they need to confront life's obstacles from a spiritual perspective. Keywords: spiritual training, well-being, quarter life crisis, the muhammadiyah association of Thailand.
