Abstract

Online-offline BIPA learners' and teachers' preferences, constraints, and boredom based on teacher perceptions. Purpose: The research aims to describe preferences, energy, feedback, boredom, and constraints and test different teacher-student constraints. Method: The research population is BIPA teachers worldwide, and a sample of 100 people who have taught online-offline and are willing to complete the Google Form. Finding: Teachers and students prefer offline learning. Teachers need energy in offline learning and students in online learning. Student and teacher constraints are low, but more in online learning. Teachers and students experience more boredom in offline learning. The preference for online learning is due to its flexible and attractive media; the obstacle for teachers and students in online learning is an internet connection; the main causes of boredom in online learning are poor connection and long sitting in front of the computer. Conclusion: Offline learning is still preferable, despite much boredom. Keywords: constraints, preferences, boredom, post-pandemic, online-offline BIPA learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202324

Abstract

Critical Thinking Levels of EFL Undergraduate Students of Universitas Brawijaya. Objective: This study investigated the levels of CT of undergraduate students. Methods: Employing the mix-method design and two instruments (1)Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal and (2) interview, the study involved 352 students who are in the first year of their study. Findings: Related to CTS, it showed that most of the students can determine the answer correctly in terms of (1) Deduction 63.07%; (2) Arguments 62.16%; (3) Interpreting information 59,92%; (4) Assumptions 50,19%; and (5) Inferences 37.15%. In sum, only 54.40% of students in their first year indicate low CT ability. It is in line with the results of the interview which postulates that 57% of the students do not really understand what and how to improve their CTS and they need some help to improve it. Conclusion: The University should provide learning and activities which can increase their CTS, especially the inferencing dimension. Abstract

Social Studies is a problem- solving subject taught in early childhood classroom but it is faced with challenges of inappropriate instructional strategies and pupil’s poor academic performance. The use of teacher centred instructional strategies in teaching of Social Studies have to led to low level of pupil’s retention, boredom, lack of interest and relatively poor academic performance. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of Pictorial integrated technology and cooperative learning strategies on pupil’s academic performance in Social Studies. Five hypotheses were raised for the study. The study adopted pre-test and posttest quasi experimental design with one hundred and twenty (120) basic two pupils which consists Sixty- two (62) Males and Fifty- Eight (58) Females. Probability sampling technique was used to select three (3) Basic two schools in Malumfashi Zonal Inspectorate in Katsina State.  Social Studies Performance Test, Pictorial Integrated Technology Social Studies Questionnaire and Cooperative Learning Strategy Social Studies Questionnaire were developed by the researchers.  Social Studies Performance Test yielded a reliability of 0. 92 while Pictorial Integrated Technology Social Studies Questionnaire and Cooperative Learning Strategy Social Studies Questionnaire yielded a correlation index of 0.73 and 0.75 respectively.   The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level of significance It was deducted that pictorial integrated technology and cooperative learning strategies enhance pupil’s academic performance in Social Studies when effectively utilized in the classroom. Based on the findings of the study, the researchers concluded that pictorial integrated technology and cooperative learning strategies has more effects on basic two pupils’ academic performance in Social Studies than lecture method. Further study could be carried out to determine the effects of pictorial integrated technology and cooperative learning strategies on pupils ‘achievement and retention of Social Studies concepts for easy generalization.Key Words: Pictorial, integrated technology, cooperative learning strategy, pupils, Social Studies,DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i1.202306

Abstract

History Learning through Online Learning During Covid-19 Pandemic: Teachers and Students Respond. Objectives: this study aims to know history learning during the COVID 19 Pandemic, know the teachers and students respond, and see the e-learning applications that are most often used and how do students respond to use the application. Method: this research used a mixed-method approach. Result: this study showed that history learning experienced differences, and there were also similarities in understanding. The difference was that initially, the teacher used face-to-face learning methods, then online learning changes that rely on internet-based applications. Not having facilities such as smartphones, laptops, and internet networks that did not support learning, made some students unactive. 55.6% of history teachers chose Google Classroom, and 44.4% selected WhatsApp as an e-learning application in teaching. Conclusion: history teachers and students faced some challenges through online learning but they still can conduct the teaching and learning process. Keywords: History Learning, Online Learning, COVID-19, E-learning Applications DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i1.202102

Abstract

Literature Review on the Effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom learning Model in Enchancing Students’ Academic Achievement This study discusses the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom instructional model in enhancing academic achievement based on a literature review. This learning model is an innovation that transforms the conventional teaching paradigm by utilizing information technology. The research aims to explore the impact of implementing the Flipped Classroom model on improving learning outcomes in Economics by presenting a comprehensive literature review on the use of the Flipped Classroom model in the context of economic education. The research method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) from various sources, where the author explores various related studies to determine whether the Flipped Classroom model consistently improves students' academic performance in an educational context. The literature review results indicate that the Flipped Classroom has the potential to enhance students' academic achievements. Some studies show a significant improvement in conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and active student participation when this model is well implemented. However, there are also findings highlighting challenges in implementing the Flipped Classroom, such as adequate material preparation, teacher roles, and technology access. Keywords: flipped classroom, academic achievement, learning model, students, economics learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i3.202330

Abstract

Integration of Agrarian Literacy in Citizenship Education. Objective: This study aims to formulate an integration model of land literacy within social education to enhance students’ critical awareness and serve as a preventive strategy against agrarian conflict in Indonesia. Method: This qualitative literature analysis draws on Paulo Freire's critical pedagogy to combine recent empirical findings with agrarian policy advances. Finding: Apart from unequal land ownership, the study shows those agrarian conflicts result from young people's ignorance of land rights, legal procedures, and history. Civic education in schools also emphasizes excessive memorization and fails to connect with students' local realities. The current curriculum does not address local agrarian issues, and teaching methods are mostly one-sided, failing to encourage critical thinking or active participation from students. To address this, the study suggests a model for agrarian literacy that includes three key components: (1) a curriculum that covers local agrarian topics like customary rights, land disputes, and agrarian law; (2) engaging learning methods like project-based learning and real-life case studies of land conflicts; and (3) partnerships with organizations like the National Land Agency, traditional institutions, and non-governmental organizations in the agrarian field. Conclusion: Agrarian literacy is an important citizenship competency that helps form citizens who are legally aware, sensitive to social justice, and capable of actively resolving land conflicts. Therefore, agrarian literacy needs to be systematically integrated into the national education framework. Keywords: land literacy, civic education, agrarian conflict, critical pedagogy, civic engagement.
