Focus and Scope Focus Room of Civil Society Development (RCSD) is a community service-oriented journal that focuses on advancing theories, research, and practices in community participation and empowerment. The journal explores innovative approaches to fostering active participation of communities in development initiatives, integrating science and technology to create sustainable and resilient societies. RCSD encourages submissions that bridge the gap between theory and practice, emphasizing collaborative efforts across various fields to enhance community participation and empowerment. Scope The term "community participation" in RCSD refers to activities that involve community involvement in decision-making, capacity building, and empowerment to address societal challenges. The journal welcomes studies and innovations from various fields, including but not limited to Economy, Education, Health, Environment and Engineering. Economy This scope includes research and initiatives that promote economic development and empower communities to actively participate in strengthening their economic resilience. Topics may include: Community-led development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs); Participatory economic innovation for local empowerment; Capacity-building programs for economic resilience; Community-driven creative and sustainable product development. Abstract

Stunting masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia yang dipengaruhi faktor gizi, lingkungan, dan sosial ekonomi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Bilungala Utara, Kabupaten Bone Bolango, dengan tujuan memetakan kondisi gizi balita, mendeteksi risiko Kekurangan Energi Kronis (KEK) pada ibu hamil, serta memberikan edukasi gizi berbasis pangan lokal. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan partisipatif, melibatkan 70 balita, 3 ibu hamil, kader posyandu, tenaga kesehatan, dan aparat desa. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, serta catatan resmi posyandu dan puskesmas, kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian informasi, dan triangulasi. Hasil menunjukkan prevalensi stunting relatif rendah, namun masih terdapat kendala ekonomi dan keterbatasan akses pangan bergizi. Edukasi gizi yang diberikan meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu hamil dan orang tua balita mengenai pola makan seimbang serta pemanfaatan pangan lokal. Kegiatan ini menegaskan pentingnya dukungan pembiayaan posyandu, inovasi pencatatan digital, dan strategi komunikasi gizi yang inklusif. Implikasi mencakup penguatan praktik kader, kebijakan berbasis komunitas, serta peluang penelitian lanjutan terkait efektivitas edukasi interaktif dalam pencegahan stunting.

Abstract

Kebersihan tangan merupakan aspek penting dalam pencegahan penyakit menular. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kelompok petani sayur di Desa Janti, Kabupaten Kediri, melalui workshop pembuatan sabun kertas berbahan ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum basilicum) dan serai (Cymbopogon citratus). Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dengan praktik langsung, melibatkan 10 peserta. Instrumen evaluasi berupa kuesioner pra dan pasca workshop dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk menilai perubahan pemahaman dan keterampilan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam aspek pengetahuan mengenai manfaat, bahan, dan proses pembuatan sabun kertas, di mana 90–100% peserta mampu memahami dan mempraktikkan tahapan produksi setelah workshop. Produk yang dihasilkan tidak hanya efektif sebagai agen antibakteri, tetapi juga memiliki nilai tambah dari sisi ekonomi dan lingkungan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa metode workshop berbasis praktik langsung efektif dalam membangun keterampilan sekaligus menumbuhkan potensi kewirausahaan masyarakat desa melalui pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Maredan Barat dengan tujuan meningkatkan pemahaman ibu rumah tangga mengenai pengolahan nira sawit menjadi gula merah yang higienis dan bernilai ekonomi. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi melalui ceramah dan diskusi yang menekankan tahapan produksi, peluang diversifikasi, serta tantangan dalam usaha. Peserta memperoleh wawasan tentang kandungan gizi dan potensi nira sawit sebagai bahan baku produk olahan, termasuk gula merah, sirup, dan bioetanol. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap pentingnya menjaga higienitas proses, inovasi pengemasan, dan strategi pemasaran. Selain itu, diskusi juga menyoroti kendala utama produsen, seperti keterbatasan bahan baku, tingginya biaya, sulitnya memperoleh izin, serta lemahnya strategi distribusi. Meskipun kegiatan ini tidak melibatkan pengukuran kuantitatif, sosialisasi terbukti menjadi langkah awal yang signifikan dalam memperkuat kapasitas masyarakat untuk mengembangkan usaha gula merah nira sawit secara lebih produktif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Pressure ulcers are a common and serious health problem among bedridden patients receiving home care, often leading to complications that deteriorate their condition. This community service program aimed to empower families as primary caregivers in preventing pressure ulcers through structured education and practical mentoring. The intervention involved 30 family caregivers and was implemented in two sessions consisting of education and hands-on practice, conducted on May 10, 2025, in Bababulo Village, Pamboang District. Knowledge evaluation was performed using a pre-test and post-test design with 15 structured questions. The results showed a substantial improvement in family knowledge, with the average score increasing from 48.3 to 89.5 after the intervention. Participants initially demonstrated limited understanding of ulcer prevention techniques but became more competent and confident following the sessions. The program not only improved knowledge and caregiving skills but also strengthened emotional engagement and collaboration within families. Despite its success, the short training duration and small sample size were identified as limitations. To ensure sustainability, it is recommended to integrate digital educational materials, continuous follow-up training, and community support networks. Overall, this initiative provides an effective and replicable model for family-based empowerment in home care, contributing to enhanced patient safety and quality of life.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the English Camp program on enhancing English-speaking proficiency at SMA Negeri 11 Luwu, Indonesia. Conducted over two days, the program focused on interactive learning through communicative tasks such as group discussions, role-playing, and language games. A total of 44 students participated, and their speaking abilities were assessed using pretest and posttest evaluations. The results showed significant improvement in fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence. Group 1 and Group 5 exhibited the highest increases in scores, with fluency and confidence showing the greatest gains. The study found that the program was especially effective for lower-proficiency learners, while higher-level learners showed minimal progress due to the ceiling effect. Qualitative data from teacher and student interviews indicated that the camp created a positive and engaging learning environment that encouraged students to use English naturally and confidently. The findings support the efficacy of short-term, immersive programs in improving EFL learners’ speaking skills and highlight the importance of experiential and collaborative learning in language acquisition.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kemandirian ekonomi kelompok tani “Srimulyo” di Desa Pucangmiliran, Klaten, melalui pemanfaatan limbah industri mie so’on menjadi pupuk organik dan media tanam jamur tiram. Program dilaksanakan menggunakan metode knowledge transfer dan technology transfer (TT) melalui tahapan identifikasi masalah, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan ini juga mengintegrasikan pelatihan digital marketing untuk memperluas jangkauan pemasaran produk olahan jamur tiram dan pupuk organik. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan signifikan pada seluruh indikator: pembuatan pupuk organik (40% menjadi 85%), budidaya jamur tiram (35% menjadi 80%), pengolahan produk jamur (30% menjadi 75%), dan pemasaran digital (25% menjadi 60%). Program ini berhasil memperkuat kapasitas teknis, meningkatkan literasi digital, serta membangun model kewirausahaan komunitas berbasis potensi lokal dan teknologi digital. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa sinergi antara Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), Community Capitals Framework (CCF), dan Communication Infrastructure Theory (CIT) dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam mewujudkan ekonomi desa berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kapasitas usaha UMKM Citra Rasa Cilaja melalui pendampingan berbasis kebutuhan yang difokuskan pada peningkatan efisiensi produksi, rebranding produk, pemasaran digital, dan literasi keuangan. Analisis awal menggunakan kerangka Porter’s Five Forces, SWOT, dan Business Model Canvas mengidentifikasi kendala utama berupa kapasitas produksi yang terbatas, strategi pemasaran yang belum optimal, serta belum adanya sistem pencatatan keuangan. Implementasi program dilakukan melalui kegiatan live-in selama 20 hari dan pendampingan selama tiga bulan yang mencakup penyusunan standar operasional prosedur (SOP), penyediaan alat bantu produksi, perancangan kemasan baru, pembuatan katalog produk, aktivasi media sosial, serta pelatihan pencatatan keuangan sederhana. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan kapasitas produksi dari 10 kg menjadi 40 kg per hari selama live-in dan stabil pada 20–25 kg setelah pendampingan. Selain itu, identitas merek dan strategi pemasaran mengalami peningkatan melalui promosi digital dan keteraturan pencatatan keuangan. Program ini membuktikan bahwa pendampingan partisipatif dan kontekstual dapat mendorong transformasi usaha UMKM desa menuju kemandirian dan keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Desa Sumber Bakti, Kabupaten Nagan Raya, memiliki potensi ekonomi pada sektor pertanian jeruk dan pengolahan ikan asap. Namun, kedua sektor ini menghadapi berbagai kendala seperti ketergantungan pada input kimia, kelemahan kelembagaan, serta keterbatasan pemasaran. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kapasitas petani jeruk dan kelompok usaha ikan asap melalui inovasi produksi, penguatan manajemen, dan penerapan pemasaran digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif yang melibatkan identifikasi masalah, perencanaan bersama, pelatihan teknis, pendampingan lapangan, serta evaluasi menggunakan instrumen pre-test dan post-test. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan sebesar 35% pada kelompok ikan asap (ISAMBA) dan 40% pada kelompok petani jeruk. Inovasi berupa pembuatan pupuk organik cair dari limbah jeruk, penggunaan biopestisida nabati, serta pengemasan ikan asap dengan vacuum sealer meningkatkan efisiensi dan nilai jual produk hingga 40%. Pendekatan partisipatif terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan teknis, kapasitas kelembagaan, dan strategi pemasaran kelompok usaha. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi model pemberdayaan ekonomi desa yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Krisis pengelolaan sampah elektronik dan rendahnya digitalisasi sistem bank sampah menjadi tantangan dalam mewujudkan ekonomi sirkular di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan aplikasi E-WASTE untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan transparansi pengelolaan bank sampah di TPS 3R Baratan, Kabupaten Jember. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD) yang melibatkan 33 peserta dari berbagai kecamatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pengetahuan masyarakat dari nilai pre-test 4,61 menjadi post-test 8,58 (kenaikan 86,16%). Aplikasi E-WASTE dikembangkan dengan fitur utama berupa pencatatan digital berbasis mobile, klasifikasi otomatis jenis sampah, sistem poin reward, dan dashboard pemantauan real-time. Implementasi aplikasi ini meningkatkan partisipasi dan kesadaran masyarakat dalam memilah sampah, sekaligus memperkuat penerapan prinsip ekonomi sirkular di tingkat komunitas. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada model replikasi program “1 Desa 1 Bank Sampah” sebagai inovasi digital berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This community service programme was designed to strengthen local economic empowerment in Sriharjo Village through the integration of aquaculture and culinary tourism. Using a community-based participatory approach, the programme engaged the village government, Bumkal Sri Rejeki, the fish farmers’ association (Pokdakan), youth, and women’s groups. Activities included institutional visits, dialogue forums, coordination meetings, culinary competitions, and training on business management and digital promotion. Outcomes were evaluated using a one-group pre-test–post-test quasi-experimental design with questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results show significant improvements in participants’ competencies. The greatest increase was recorded in product processing knowledge (+70.59%), followed by food processing and content knowledge (+47.06%). Moderate gains were achieved in raw materials management (+29.41%), fish freshness recognition (+29.42%), nutrition knowledge (+18%), and marketing strategies (+29.42%). Social media knowledge also improved (+23.53%), reflecting growing digital engagement. In contrast, paid advertising knowledge increased slightly (+5.89%), while digital marketing knowledge remained unchanged (0%), indicating a strong baseline but limited application. These findings demonstrate that stakeholder collaboration, participatory governance, and experiential training effectively build technical and managerial capacities. However, uneven outcomes across domains emphasise the need for more practice-oriented interventions, particularly in digital and financial literacy, to ensure long-term sustainability of community-based economic initiatives.
