Abstract

Teaching and learning activities at MDTA Baitul Mukhlisin have been running effectively with a predetermined schedule from Monday to Friday, including reciting the Koran, writing, memorizing short letters, memorizing prayers and others. However, there are still many shortcomings and obstacles that are experienced so that they become obstacles faced. Among the obstacles found are the lack of parental attention to the development of students' recitation, the lack of innovative learning media, teachers who are less competent, and the habit of students in learning or reading the Koran not using tajwid and makhorijul letters in depth so that when reading the holy verses there are still mistakes in reading. So, in this case, there needs to be follow-up and special treatment to improve and read in the future so that no mistakes are found. Supporting facilities also greatly affect the sustainability of learning. Learning media with the development of the era can also be used as an intermediary in learning, for example animated videos, tajwid training in the form of videos and many more. This research was conducted to improve and enhance the quality of reading the Qur'an.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted as a response to the flash flood disaster that struck Woyla Barat District, Aceh Barat Regency, in 2025, which caused damage to settlements, disruption of socio-economic activities, and limited access to basic needs for the affected communities. This activity is considered important due to the high vulnerability of the area to hydrometeorological disasters and the need for active involvement of higher education institutions during the emergency response phase. The objective of the program was to support the fulfillment of basic needs for affected communities while strengthening the role of local institutions through a community-based approach. The method employed was a responsive and participatory approach, including coordination with partners, beneficiary data collection, humanitarian aid distribution, and brief community assistance. The results indicate that the aid was distributed appropriately, enhanced social solidarity, and reduced the economic burden on communities during the early post-disaster phase. This activity highlights the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and local organizations in community-based disaster response.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of baby massage using rose essential oil on the sleep quality of infants aged 6–12 months at BPM Rahayu. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 15 infants selected using accidental sampling. Infant sleep quality was measured before and after the intervention using a structured sleep quality questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that before the intervention, all infants (100%) had moderate sleep quality, whereas after the intervention, all infants (100%) experienced good sleep quality. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference in sleep quality before and after the intervention (p = 0.000 0.05). These findings indicate that baby massage combined with rose essential oil has a significant effect on improving sleep quality in infants aged 6–12 months. Baby massage with rose essential oil can be applied as an effective non-pharmacological intervention to support optimal infant growth and development.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health (OSH) is a fundamental competency that must be mastered by vocational high school students, particularly in high-risk fields such as mining geology. One of the main problems faced by partner schools is the low level of students’ safety awareness, which is largely caused by learning methods that are predominantly theoretical and lack contextual exposure to real working conditions. This community service activity aimed to improve the safety awareness of Mining Geology vocational students through the implementation of case study-based OSH simulations. The activity was conducted using a participatory approach, consisting of the delivery of basic OSH concepts, presentation of mining accident case studies, simulation of hazard identification, and reflective group discussions. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding of work-related risks, safety procedures, and the importance of developing a safety culture in mining activities. These findings indicate that case study-based OSH simulations are an effective strategy to strengthen safety awareness among vocational students in the mining sector.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a detailed and accurate flood vulnerability map to support local governments, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and other stakeholders in designing effective structural and non-structural flood mitigation strategies in North Gorontalo Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative approach employing spatial descriptive analysis was applied to assess flood vulnerability based on key physical and environmental parameters. Geospatial data constituted the primary basis of analysis and were processed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to generate spatially explicit vulnerability maps. Data were obtained from secondary sources, complemented by field observations and documentation studies. The results indicate that flood vulnerability in the study area is predominantly classified as moderate to high. Quantitatively, slightly vulnerable areas account for 28.76% of the total area, followed by moderately vulnerable areas at 28.23% and vulnerable areas at 24.48%. Very vulnerable areas cover 16.41%, while non-vulnerable areas represent only 2.11%. Spatial analysis reveals that villages located in low-lying areas, in close proximity to river channels, and characterized by gentle slope gradients exhibit the highest levels of flood vulnerability. Notably, Alatakarya, Upper Pontolo, Molingkapoto, and Katialada villages consistently fall within the vulnerable to very vulnerable categories. Overall, this study provides critical insights into flood vulnerability levels, spatial distribution patterns, and the identification of priority villages, underscoring the urgent need for targeted mitigation measures in areas with the highest flood risk.
