Abstract

Social media, especially Instagram, has become an effective tool in spreading da’wah among Generation Z (Gen Z). This generation has a tendency to access information quickly, visually, and interactively, so Instagram is the right media to convey Islamic teachings. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach to analyze how Instagram plays a role in the transformation of da’wah, the communication strategies applied, and its effect on increasing religious knowledge in Gen Z. The results showed that Instagram is able to make da’wah more interesting and easy to understand through features such as image uploads, short videos, and live broadcasts. However, there are challenges in information validity and algorithm effects that can limit users’ perspectives. Therefore, good digital literacy is needed so that this media can be optimally utilized in increasing religious understanding among Gen Z.

Abstract

Generation Z is a group that grew up in the digital era, where social media has become an integral part of their lives. This has driven changes in da'wah strategies to be more relevant and effective in spreading Islamic values. This study aims to analyze the digital da'wah communication strategy in spreading Islamic values ​​to Gen Z through a case study of the TikTok account Kadam Sidik. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study examines the types of content, message delivery techniques, and the impact of interactions between da'wah and audiences. The results of the study show that Kadam Sidik applies a communication strategy based on storytelling, humor, and the use of social media trends to attract attention and increase understanding of Islam among Gen Z. In addition, active interaction with the audience through comments and live streaming is an important factor in building closeness and strengthening da'wah messages. This study confirms that a creative, communicative da'wah approach that is in accordance with the characteristics of digital media can increase the effectiveness of spreading Islamic values ​​to the younger generation.

Abstract

The digital era has brought significant changes in communication patterns within families, where information and communication technology (ICT) is now an inseparable part of everyday life. In this context, the application of Islamic parenting principles is very crucial to maintain harmony and the quality of communication between family members. In Islamic teachings, family communication has a very important role and is regulated by principles derived from the Qur'an and Hadith. Good communication in the family is not just an exchange of information, but also a means to build a sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah family, namely a family that is calm, full of love, and affection. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing the role of Islamic parenting between parents and children in the digital era. The results of the study show that Islamic parenting principles emphasize the importance of effective, loving, and religiously based communication. In today's digital era, it is important for parents to have a deep understanding of technology and its impact on children. In addition, they also need to develop adaptive communication skills to face the various challenges that arise from the use of technology, such as cyberbullying, social media addiction, and exposure to negative content. In the context of Islamic parenting, effective communication between parents and children is the key to building strong, trusting, and supportive relationships. Islamic parenting principles play an important role in guiding communication patterns in families in this digital era. By implementing these values, parents can create a harmonious and loving family atmosphere, remain in accordance with religious teachings, and be ready to face the various challenges posed by technological developments.

Abstract

The development of information technology and social media, particularly TikTok, has brought new challenges for Muslim women in maintaining their identity and Islamic values. This study explores effective Islamic communication strategies to address viral dance content that often contradicts Islamic teachings, using the perspective of Q.S Al-Ahzab verse 33 as a foundation. The method used is qualitative with a literature study approach, involving collecting data from various sources to support the analysis. The results of the study indicate that viral dance content can influence the image of Muslim women and pose challenges to modesty and aurat. Therefore, wise, educational, and value-based communication strategies are essential to provide a better understanding to the younger generation. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of persuasive and constructive communication approaches, as well as the role of religious figures and influencers in conveying messages that align with Islamic teachings. This research is expected to contribute to the development of relevant communication strategies in the digital era.

Abstract

The development of digital technology, especially social media such as Tiktok, has opened up new space for the spread of Islamic preaching messages. This article discusses the communication strategies used by young preachers in delivering preaching through the Tiktok platform. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with case studies on several accounts of young preachers who are actively preaching on Tiktok. The results of the study show that young preachers utilize creativity in the form of delivering content that is short, interesting, and relevant to current issues. They also use communicative language and attractive visuals to reach the younger generation. Other strategies implemented include consistency in uploads, active interaction with followers, and the use of Tiktok trends and features such as music, filters, and hashtags to increase the reach of preaching. With this research, young preachers are able to convey Islamic values ​​effectively and are accepted by a wider audience, especially teenagers and millennials. This study concludes that the success of young preachers in preaching on Tiktok is greatly influenced by their ability to adapt communication strategies in a dynamic and rapidly changing digital context. This finding emphasizes the importance of digital competence for young preachers in facing the challenges of preaching in the modern era, as well as the need for a creative and contextual approach so that Islamic preaching remains relevant and touches the hearts of the wider community, especially the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Ustadz Hanan Attaki’s preaching style on TikTok on the self-motivation of teenagers in understanding and practicing Islamic teachings. A quantitative approach with a survey method was applied to 25 respondents who are TikTok-using teenagers and viewers of Ustadz Hanan Attaki’s da’wah content. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results indicate that a relaxed, relatable, and communicative preaching style significantly influences teens’ religious motivation. A simple linear regression test showed a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.856, indicating that 86% of the variation in self-motivation is explained by the preaching style. These findings highlight the importance of adapting preaching methods to the digital era, particularly through social media platforms.

Abstract

Fenomena Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is increasingly in the spotlight in the digital era, especially among the younger generation who are active on social media. This research seeks to analyze the phenomenon of FOMO in the context of consumerism through an Islamic perspective, referring to QS Al-Hadid verse 20. Using a qualitative approach, the results show that social media plays an important role in the formation of FOMO, which can trigger impulse buying behavior and increase life dissatisfaction. From an Islamic perspective, consumptive behavior arising from feelings of FOMO contradicts the teachings on modesty and self-control. Therefore, financial education and a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings, especially regarding the concepts of modesty and self-control, are needed to strengthen healthy and wise consumption patterns. This study also emphasizes the importance of preserving wealth (Hifz al-Mal) in accordance with the Maqashid Syariah principle in managing consumptive behavior. Islamic values such as simplicity, gratitude, and self-control can be a provision for individuals to overcome harmful consumptive tendencies. The findings are expected to provide new insights into the relationship between FOMO, social media, and consumptive behavior, and affirm the importance of Islamic principles in maintaining the overall well-being of individuals.

Abstract

This study explores Muhammad Arkoun’s hermeneutical thought in interpreting the Qur’an as an open discourse that should be read critically and contextually. The research is based on the need for a renewed interpretive method that aligns with modern scientific developments and contemporary socio-cultural dynamics. The purpose is to analyze Arkoun’s methodological approach, which integrates social sciences such as linguistics, anthropology, and history in Qur’anic exegesis. This study employs a qualitative library research method, focusing on primary and secondary sources related to Arkoun’s thought. The findings reveal that Arkoun rejects a literalist approach to the text and emphasizes the need to understand revelation within its complex historical and cultural contexts. He introduces concepts such as la mafkûr fîh to uncover unexplored meanings in religious discourse. The study concludes that Arkoun’s approach offers an inclusive, dynamic, and contextually relevant alternative reading of the Qur’an. Its major contribution lies in opening new horizons for Qur’anic Interpretation in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of information technology usage, particularly gadgets, on the mental health of students at SMAN 18 Palembang. The massive use of gadgets among adolescents can have both positive and negative impacts on various aspects of life, including mental health. This study employs a quantitative method with a survey approach. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to active students of SMAN 18 Palembang. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to examine the relationship between the intensity of gadget use and mental health indicators such as stress levels, anxiety, depression, and sleep quality. The results of this research are expected to provide a clear picture of the extent to which gadget use correlates with the mental health conditions of students in this school environment. The implications of this study are expected to provide input for the school, parents, and students in an effort to minimize negative impacts and optimize the healthy and wise use of information technology for the mental well-being of the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of the use of social media as a tool for individual communication on environmental loyalty around Polrestabes RT 18 Jakabaring, Palembang. The method used is a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to 30 respondents and analyzed with the help of SPSS. The results of the bar graph indicate that the majority of respondents (86.7%) agree that social media plays a role in increasing environmental awareness. Simple linear regression analysis produces an equation Y = 11.060 + 0.714X with an R² value of 0.341, indicating a positive and significant relationship between the two variables. These findings suggest that the use of social media can be an effective means to encourage community loyalty to the surrounding environment.
