Abstract

Waste management remains a major environmental issue in Indonesia, as indicated by the high proportion of unmanaged waste, particularly in Bali Province and Tabanan Regency. Based on SIPSN data in 2024, Tabanan Regency shows a relatively high percentage of unmanaged waste compared to other Sarbagita regions, while limited availability and distribution of TPS3R facilities have hindered optimal waste management. This study aims to plan and design an Integrated Waste Processing Facility in Tabanan Regency that functions not only as a waste treatment center but also as an environmental education facility. The research method includes secondary data collection through literature review and SIPSN data, as well as primary data obtained from field observations and interviews with TPS3R managers, followed by quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results propose a design concept based on ecological architecture and the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), emphasizing efficient mass arrangement, the use of environmentally friendly materials, natural lighting and ventilation, and the provision of public and educational spaces to support sustainable waste management in Tabanan Regency.

Abstract

The development of popular culture in Denpasar City has grown significantly, especially among young communities such as cosplay, gaming, collectors, and digital creators. However, these activities are still temporary and not supported by integrated facilities, resulting in fragmented creative processes and limited sustainability. This study aims to design a Pop Culture Creative Hub in Denpasar as an integrated creative space that accommodates production, collaboration, and commercialization activities. The method used includes literature study, observation, interviews, and precedent study, analyzed through comparative, analytical, and synthesis methods. The design applies a cross-programming approach by integrating creative, commercial, educational, and recreational functions into a flexible and adaptive spatial system. The result is a creative hub that remains active daily and supports the development of a sustainable creative ecosystem in Denpasar.

Abstract

Early childhood is a critical phase of development that is strongly influenced by the quality of learning and play environments. In Denpasar City, high child density, limited green open spaces, and increasing screen time highlight the need for alternative child-friendly and nature-oriented learning facilities. This study aims to plan and design a Children’s Nature Learning Hub as a non-formal, community-based learning facility using a nature- based learning approach. The research applies descriptive qualitative method through field observation, literature review, precedent studies, and design synthesis analysis. The nature-based learning approach is implemented through the concept of Learning Through Nature and Play, which integrates play activities, exploration, and sensory experiences into early childhood learning processes. This approach is applied to both outdoor and indoor spatial arrangements, supported by a biophilic architectural theme through flexible spatial design, indoor– outdoor connectivity, vegetation integration, natural materials, daylighting, and natural ventilation. The proposed design is expected to offer an alternative early childhood learning environment that supports holistic development and aligns with the objectives of the Child-Friendly City program in Denpasar.

Abstract

Kintamani is a highland area in Bangli Regency, Bali, which has great potential in the production of high-quality Arabica coffee and the development of agriculture-based tourism. However, coffee production, education, and tourism activities in this area are still carried out separately so that the added value and welfare of farmers are not optimal. This study aims to design the Arabica Coffee Center in Kintamani as an integrated area that integrates the functions of production, education, training, tourism, and sustainable environmental management. The method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach through literature studies, field observations, interviews, and data analysis as the basis for formulating the design concept. The design approach carries the Integrated & Experiential concept with the theme of Neo-Vernacular Architecture that adapts local cultural values, natural conditions, and modern technology. The design results in a coffee center area that has integrated functions, a clear flow of activities, and educational and recreational space experiences, with an efficient structural system and contextual architectural expression. The Arabica Coffee Center in Kintamani is expected to strengthen the identity of local coffee, improve the quality of processing and education, support the community's economy, and maintain the sustainability of the area's environment.
