Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the economy; however, the use of social media as a marketing tool is still not optimal. This study aims to describe the assistance process in utilizing social media for MSME Roti Bolen and Donat Bu Tiyas in Poncorejo Village, Gemuh District, Kendal Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study method through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results show that assistance provided during the Community Service Program (KKN) improved the MSME owner’s understanding of social media management, particularly in creating promotional content and interacting with consumers. Although the increase in sales was not significant, social media utilization proved effective in expanding market reach and enhancing MSMEs competitiveness.

Abstract

Tlahab Village is a village in Gemuh District, consisting of three sub-district units (RW) and thirteen community units (RT). Given its population, used cooking oil produced by households in Tlahab Village is a type of waste with potential economic value. The transformation of used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles not only creates new business opportunities but also has a positive impact on the environment. In this article, the author uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive-explanatory approach that aims to provide a clear picture of the aromatherapy candle making program implemented during the Real Work Program, including a detailed explanation of the production stages. The implementation of the aromatherapy candle making workshop from used cooking oil yielded positive results. This program not only contributes to reducing the impact of household waste but also provides economic and social benefits to the Tlahab Village community. Used cooking oil, previously considered only as waste that pollutes the environment, has now been successfully processed into functional products with economic value.

Abstract

Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN), or Student Community Service, serves as a student advocacy instrument to facilitate social transformation at the village level. This article aims to document the implementation of a blood donation drive as a flagship program conducted in Cepokomulyo Village. The primary issue identified at the site was low community participation in medical humanitarian activities due to limited access to information and psychological stigmas regarding medical procedures. This community service project employed a Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, utilizing observation and in-depth interviews for data collection. Data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method to identify shifts in community perception and evaluate program effectiveness. The results demonstrate a significant increase in the community's social awareness index, highlighted by achieving a blood bag collection target of 85% from the total registrants who passed medical screening. This program not only succeeded in providing blood supplies for the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) but also reinforced the values of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) and health awareness as a tangible impact of student service in Cepokomulyo Village.

Abstract

The low level of awareness among rural communities about the importance of protecting the environment remains a crucial problem. This is rooted in low public participation and in an anthropocentric understanding of environmental ethics. Pucangrejo has great potential, especially in its religious base, to be developed into an ecovillage rooted in Islamic values. This community service program aims to initiate the Pucangrejo Ecovillage model by integrating eco-theological concepts and strengthening collective community awareness. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this action involves active collaboration between the research team and the community to diagnose problems, plan actions, implement them, and evaluate outcomes. The results of the community service show that, through PAR, the Pucangrejo community successfully identified the root causes of its environmental problems and independently designed a "Green Mosque" program, with the mosque as the basis for empowering the village's green environment. The integration of eco-theological values accelerated the internalization of environmentally friendly behavior by aligning with local religious values through religious studies and the role of religious leaders. A significant impact was seen in the formation of an active environmental working group (Pokja) that was self-sufficient and did not rely heavily on external instructions. This study concluded that the PAR and eco-theology-based Ecovillage model enabled sustainable ecological independence in the village of Pucangrejo by positioning the community as the subject of change and the guardian of environmental morality grounded in religious values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze community-based waste management in preventing intergenerational environmental impacts in Jenarsari Village. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used to explore the dynamics of community participation and the sustainability of waste management practices at the local level. Data were obtained through observation, semi-structured interviews, and limited questionnaires, then analyzed using an interactive model through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the formation of collective awareness, support from local leadership, and consistent outreach are the main factors in encouraging changes in community behavior. Scientific findings indicate a transformation in values regarding waste as a resource with social and economic value. Active community participation has been shown to strengthen sorting practices and gradually reduce household residues. Furthermore, the involvement of the younger generation shows the potential for environmental sustainability in the context of intergenerational inheritance. Overall, this study confirms that community-based waste management is an effective socio-ecological strategy in building a sustainable culture of environmental awareness.

Abstract

Learning interest is a key factor in determining student engagement and academic success in elementary education. Preliminary observations at SD Negeri Sedayu, Gemuh District, Kendal Regency revealed varying levels of learning interest and suboptimal participation among fifth and sixth-grade students due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods. This community service program aimed to implement creative learning based on interactive activities and differentiated instruction to enhance students’ learning interest. The study employed a descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach using classroom observations, interviews, a 20-item learning interest questionnaire (α=0.87), achievement tests, and documentation. The intervention included educational games, collaborative discussions (think–pair–share and simplified jigsaw), mini projects, and tiered assignments tailored to students’ abilities. The results indicated a 34.8% increase in learning interest with a moderate normalized gain, active participation reaching 82.6%, and learning mastery of 85.7%. These findings demonstrate that creative-interactive and differentiated learning effectively enhances student engagement, intrinsic motivation, and conceptual understanding in elementary education. The model is feasible for replication with contextual adjustments and strengthened teacher capacity.

Abstract

Stunting is a public health problem caused by chronic malnutrition in children, which affects physical growth, cognitive development, and the quality of human resources in the future. Efforts to prevent stunting require a community-based approach that actively involves local communities. This study aims to describe the implementation of a community-based stunting prevention socialization program through the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) in Tamangede Village, Gemuh District, Kendal Regency. The method used was a community service activity with an educational and participatory approach conducted through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The activity was held on January 20, 2026, at the Tamangede Village Hall and involved 35 participants consisting of mothers with toddlers and Posyandu cadres. The socialization materials included the importance of the first 1,000 days of life (HPK), balanced nutrition, appropriate parenting practices, and a demonstration of supplementary feeding (PMT) using local food ingredients. The results showed that participants demonstrated high enthusiasm during the socialization and interactive discussion sessions. The evaluation indicated an increase in community understanding regarding the causes, impacts, and prevention strategies of stunting. Furthermore, the supplementary feeding demonstration provided practical knowledge that children’s nutritional needs can be fulfilled using easily accessible local food sources. In conclusion, community-based stunting prevention socialization through the KKN program can increase public knowledge and awareness about the importance of early stunting prevention. A participatory and contextual educational approach is proven to be effective in building collective awareness and strengthening the role of Posyandu cadres and families in sustainable stunting prevention efforts at the village level.

Abstract

Plastic waste in rural areas has become an increasingly complex environmental issue due to the rising volume of household waste and the lack of effective waste management systems based on source reduction. This community service program aims to enhance public awareness and participation in plastic waste management through a community-based approach in Krompaan Village, Gemuh District, Kendal Regency. The implementation method employed a participatory approach consisting of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation stage included socialization, environmental education, assistance in waste segregation, and the introduction of the reduce, reuse, and recycle (3R) concept, as well as the initiation of a waste bank. The results indicate an improvement in community understanding regarding the impact of plastic waste and the importance of managing waste at the source. Community participation began to emerge through involvement in socialization activities and initial practices of waste segregation, although it has not yet been consistently applied in daily life. The program also identified potential for developing community-based waste management supported by social capital and the role of local government. Therefore, this community service activity provides an initial contribution to fostering awareness and participation toward a more participatory and sustainable plastic waste management system.
