Abstract

Food security and low nutrition literacy remain critical challenges in rural areas, particularly in Ranon Village. Many household yards are underutilized, and housewives have limited knowledge about processing local food sources such as water spinach (kangkung), lemongrass, and ginger into nutritious meals. This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of rural women especially members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and Posyandu cadres in utilizing homegrown produce to prepare healthy and nutritious food. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, engaging the community in all stages from problem identification to evaluation. Activities included nutrition education and cooking demonstrations using local ingredients, such as the preparation of water spinach brownies. Results showed that 80% of participants had a good understanding of the nutrition material and were able to apply the skills to process healthy food from their gardens. The program successfully improved participants’ nutritional literacy and food preparation skills, while also promoting productive use of home gardens for household food security. This participatory approach proved effective in raising awareness and encouraging sustainable healthy eating behaviors at the household level.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) was implemented to address the urgent needs of SMP Plus Darussalam Blokagung, Banyuwangi, which lacks a formal mechanism for preventing and handling bullying. This activity aims to establish a peer-supported Anti-Bullying Task Force through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that emphasizes empowering and strengthening the capacity of students and teachers in detecting, reporting, and responding to bullying cases. Interventions provided included anti-bullying literacy training, conflict management workshops, role-playing simulations, assistance in developing reporting SOPs, task force formation, and a safe school campaign. Participants in the activity consisted of 50 students and 10 supervising teachers. Program evaluation was conducted through observation, short interviews, FGDs, pre-post questionnaires, and activity documentation. The implementation results showed an increase in student knowledge and awareness regarding forms of bullying as well as empathetic communication skills. Students demonstrated greater courage in reporting, and the task force began carrying out initial mediation functions in several minor cases. In addition to increasing individual capacity, the school acquired a new institutional structure in the form of an Anti-Bullying Task Force and a participatory reporting SOP. These findings indicate that the PAR approach is effective in strengthening the school community's ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment. The program also demonstrates potential for sustainability through the integration of task force activities into the school's agenda, as well as opportunities for replication in other schools with similar needs.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity addressed the conceptual gap in understanding the Discriminant of Quadratic Equations among 180 Grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Banyuwangi. Students showed high procedural ability but poor interpretation of the discriminant's meaning ($D$), leading to low learning mastery and non-routine problem-solving skills. The intervention utilized Intensive Mentoring implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by conceptual visualization. The PkM involved three stages: preparation, implementation (small-group mentoring and visual demos), and evaluation. Results showed a significant Transformation of Conceptual Understanding. Quantitatively, the students' average score increased by 32.6% (from 63.5 to 84.2), and the learning mastery percentage (KKM  75) sharply rose to 85%. Qualitatively, the activity successfully fostered critical thinking and collaboration in understanding the relationship between the value of $D$, the nature of the roots, and the quadratic function graph. It is concluded that Intensive Mentoring, emphasizing visualization and PBL, is an effective pedagogical strategy to resolve conceptual difficulties with the Discriminant, offering a structured solution for enhancing mathematics learning quality.

Abstract

Community service through the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Blado Kulon Village, Tegal Siwalan District, Probolinggo Regency was carried out using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. This approach was chosen because it emphasizes the utilization of community assets, strengths, and local potential, particularly in the tilapia fish farming sector, which serves as the village’s main asset. Through the ABCD method and Appreciative Inquiry, the mentoring process was implemented in five key stages: discovery, dream, design, define, and destiny. This program focused on developing community capacity, especially among members of the Mina Mandiri tilapia farming group (POKDAKAN), in enhancing their knowledge and skills in digital marketing. The results of the program indicate positive changes within the community, particularly in business management, mindset, and the ability to utilize social media as a marketing platform. Training activities, including the creation of Shopee and Lazada accounts and the optimization of WhatsApp Business, contributed to increased creativity and independence in promoting tilapia farming products. These findings reinforce that the ABCD approach effectively fosters self-reliance, confidence, and empowerment within the community to develop its local potential. Overall, the digital marketing assistance program based on local assets proved effective in improving the capacity of the Blado Kulon Village community. This initiative is expected to serve as an initial step toward further business innovation development and strengthening the village economy through community-based assets.

Abstract

Advancements in information technology over the past two decades have brought significant changes across various fields, including foreign language education. One of the rapidly developing innovations is the emergence of application-based learning platforms, which enable users to study languages in a flexible, interactive, and autonomous manner. In the context of Arabic language learning, digital applications offer a practical alternative solution for learners from diverse backgrounds, especially those with limited access to formal educational institutions. The partner in this community service activity is Raudlatul Athfal (RA) Al-Husna, which faces challenges in teaching basic Arabic, particularly due to the lack of interactive and engaging learning media for early childhood students. Based on initial observations, the learning process remains conventional, resulting in suboptimal interest and understanding of Arabic vocabulary among children. This service activity involves mentoring and training on the use of the Duolingo Arabic application for teachers and students at RA Al-Husna as an alternative digital learning medium that is both engaging and accessible. The proposed solutions include technical training on the application's usage, direct assistance during learning sessions, and the development of a user guide tailored to the students’ characteristics. The results show an increase in students’ enthusiasm and teachers’ effectiveness in utilizing technology as a learning tool. This service demonstrates that digital application utilization can serve as an innovative solution in enhancing basic Arabic language skills in early childhood education institutions.

The results demonstrated a significant increase in participants’ cognitive understanding, with the average score of Islamic financial literacy rising from 38% to 64%. The program recommends the digitalization of financial recording instruments and the establishment of a Sharia cooperative to ensure the sustainability of congregants’ economic independence. Abstract

Islamic boarding schools, as centers of Islamic education, have significant economic potential, particularly in the development of halal products. However, the lack of digital marketing skills is a major obstacle in optimizing this potential. This community service program aims to empower the students of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Blokagung Banyuwangi thru training in content creation and halal product marketing strategies on social media. The method used is participatory action research (PAR) thru three stages: (1) socialization and needs analysis, (2) intensive (hands-on) training on storytelling, mobile photography, basic video editing, social media algorithms, and Islamic marketing ethics, and (3) mentoring for content creation and strategies for pesantren's flagship products. The evaluation results showed significant improvement in three aspects: knowledge (80% of participants understood the material), practical skills (creation of 5 new business product accounts on Instagram and TikTok), and entrepreneurial motivation. The conclusion of this program is that integrating digital skills with pesantren values can create a sustainable model of sharia economic empowerment that is relevant to the demands of the creative and digital economy.
