Abstract

Creating a multicultural society that coexists peacefully amidst various kinds of differences is not an easy thing. The fact that multicultural society is still challenging to realize is a serious problem, not only for one or two countries but also for all countries worldwide. This research has three objectives. The first describes the implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia with various obstacles. Second, describe solutions to multiple problems in the implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia. Third, provide recommendations for the implementation of multicultural education in other areas. Based on a qualitative study of several studies on the implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia, The results show that the implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia is carried out in several ways or several approaches. In general, this approach can be divided into two: the approach in terms of learning materials and the approach in terms of learning methods. The multicultural education approach in terms of material means that the values of multiculturalism are given to students through special materials that discuss multiculturalism. Meanwhile, the approach in terms of methods means that the values of multicultural life are given to students by integrating them into various subjects namely the approach in terms of learning materials and approaches in terms of learning methods.

Abstract

Essentially, project-based learning, currently referred to as a method for citizenship education in higher education, is rooted in the concept of civic engagement, which is the most critical determinant of success in transitioning to adult citizenship. Given the limited involvement of the younger generation in public life, which often remains tokenistic and lacks significant impact on change. With their current capacity, young citizens are considered insufficiently equipped to address the challenges of Indonesia's democratic transition, including the dissemination of disinformation and diminishing political efficacy. Giving precedence to civic engagement programs in citizenship education becomes imperative to fortify democracy. Thus, the refinement of concepts and instructional methodologies for citizenship education requires a comprehensive review of scholarly articles. This research attempts to bridge the gap in systematic literature reviews on this subject, which have not thoroughly examined articles addressing civic engagement programming in terms of concepts and methods. The study employs a systematic literature review methodology, using articles published in Scopus-indexed journals over the past decade as primary sources. This systematic literature review effectively underscores the extensive progress in the concepts and methodologies of civic engagement programs within citizenship education, signaling a promising trajectory in this field. Furthermore, the review identifies pivotal areas for future research, including the fine-tuning of assessment models for experiential-based instruction and a critical reevaluation of the role of civics education in heightening citizens' political consciousness.

Abstract

Ideal assessment in teaching and learning should involve the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains following the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, which emphasizes Pancasila values. However, whether teachers can develop affective domain assessments optimally is still questionable. A literature study has been conducted by researchers and found that in Indonesia, teachers tend to develop cognitive domain assessments more than affective and psychomotor domain assessments. Therefore, this research uses a phenomenological approach to investigate the implementation of affective domain assessment conducted by school teachers. The participants of this study consisted of 18 middle school teachers in Indonesia. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaires, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs). Data analysis was conducted using the model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which consists of three stages: 1) data reduction, 2) data display, and 3) conclusion drawing. The study found that teachers understand affective assessment well and emphasize the importance of instilling affective values in education to reduce moral problems. They also emphasize the need for changing teaching strategies and providing relevant materials to help students understand their lessons. However, the planning for affective assessment is time-consuming and the implementation in middle schools is not ideal. Subject teachers often handle this assessment, which should be the responsibility of all teachers, rather than just Religion, Guidance and Counseling, and Civic Education.

Abstract

The Indonesian government has declared Covid-19 a pandemic, leading to restrictions such as working from home and room capacity limits. These restrictions have resulted in numerous layoffs, and the pandemic has been deemed a national disaster, with laws and regulations like Presidential Decree No. 12 of 2020 strengthening the reasons for entrepreneurs to consider it a force majeure event. The economic sector's decline has direct implications for employees, both in formal and informal sectors, due to decreased production, depletion of industrial raw materials, weakening of the Rupiah against the Dollar, decline in Indonesian tourism, and the fall of the composite stock index. Employers have been forced to lay off their workers. Legal protection for workers includes termination of employment (PHK) and layoff provisions regulated by Articles 150-172 of Law 13/2003. This descriptive analysis aims to provide an overview of legal protection for workers during the pandemic, including the analysis and interpretation of laws and regulations related to the problem under study.

Abstract

Bureaucratic ethics are crucial for the integrity of licensing services at the Yogyakarta City Investment and Licensing Service. Despite challenges like corruption, collusion, and nepotism, the Yogyakarta City Government is working to institutionalize an employee code of ethics through the SATRIYA Culture and BerAKHLAK core values. This paper aims to explain the development of bureaucratic ethics in the Yogyakarta City Investment and Licensing Office, using qualitative descriptive methods such as interviews, focus group discussions, observation, and documentation. The study found that civil servants have a good understanding of bureaucratic ethics, but internalizing values and norms takes time. Efforts to achieve integrity include public interest orientation, legal certainty, equality of rights, balance of rights and obligations, professionalism, equality of treatment, openness, and accountability. However, sub-optimal results exist due to limited funds, limited public facilities, different attitudes, unintegrated coordination, and operational technical problems.

Abstract

This research aims to compare the results of two learning approaches, namely the anti-radicalism value project model and the conventional model, in enhancing the commitment of young citizens. Through data analysis from two groups of classes, the experimental and control groups, we evaluated the outcomes of both learning models on the improvement of young citizens' commitment, including their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards the values and principles of Indonesia's constitutional democracy. By using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, it is hoped that research findings can be reliable. The study shows that the anti-radicalism value project model has significant advantages in increasing the commitment of young citizens compared to the conventional model. Students participating in the project model demonstrated active engagement in the learning process, meaningful learning experiences, and better development of critical thinking skills. On the other hand, the conventional model tends to be limited in providing opportunities for interaction and the active participation of students in the learning process. Students involved in the conventional model are more inclined to be passive recipients of information and less engaged in the learning process. Furthermore, the conventional model also falls short in encouraging students to think critically and relate the subject matter to a real-life context.
