A phenomenological qualitative research method was used in this research to explore the identity of the Arabic language teacher at MIN 04 West Kotawaringin represented by their performance in the daily learning process. The data of this study were obtained from the analysis of interviews, observations and documentation. Interviews were conducted with two Arabic language teachers at MIN 04, students and the principal as the informants. The results showed that the teacher's performance could be seen from; the responsibilities in carrying out the task as a representation of their identity as an Arabic teacher who deal the problems and conditions about the learning facilities, enjoyable technique of teaching and learning, adapt to the use of digital-based media, take different learning resources, and take the initiative to use the most accessible and affordable methods. It was in line with the theory of teacher identity by Anne Graham and Renata Phelps that the teacher should be able to overcome the obstacles faced by both problems from students and infrastructure. This research could be a reference so that teachers can represent their performance, not only as a responsibility but also as a teacher's identity. Abstract

To improve learning activities in the Arabic course for students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar in this pandemic period, digital teaching materials are needed. The development of the basic Arabic language in this university is important because Arabic is one the courses taught in almost every study program. The method that was used to develop this electronic module is the 4D method which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stage. The data sources in this development are divided into two parts. The first data sources relating to the development of books are taken from Arabic books while the data sources used as test subjects are 43 students of the Islamic Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. The results of this development were an electronic module using Fliphtml5 as a development design template while the method of presenting material in this E-Module follows the model of the Directorate general of Islamic religious institution and open university modules in 1996. Which begins with an introduction, and contains learning activities, exercises and summeries. The percentage of the respondents reached 92% and 96% which explains to us that the material of the Arabic E-Module is easier to understand as an alternative teaching materials for this course. Then as a conclusion of the result, this E-Module can be used as teaching materials to improve Arabic learning activities.

Abstract

Textbooks writing must consider the theories put forward by experts who are competent in their field. In this study, the researcher examined textbooks for Islamic junior high school (Madrasah Tsanawiyyah) with guidelines of the research on the theory put forward by Muhammad Ali Al-Khuli. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the mufrodat and tarkib material presented in textbooks was in accordance with the theory presented by Muhammad Ali Al-Khuli. This type of research was library research. The data sources were textbooks and supporting sources such as books, articles, and documents related to the research. Meanwhile, content analysis was used in analyzing the data. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there were still presentations of mufrodat and tarkib that were not in accordance with the theory of linguists. This could affect the process of acquiring a second language for students. If the presentation of the material were not in accordance with the expert's explanation, the acceptance of the material would be less than optimal. It was expected that there would be improvements to the books that are already in circulation. For the printing of the next edition, the editor would be expected to check thoroughly before the book is printed and distributed.

Abstract

In surah Al-Kahf verses 60-82, the term bahrain has a deeper connotation than its lexical sense. It is because the passage is linked to the story of Musa and Khidr. The two prophets reflect the several types of knowledge that the term bahrain encompasses. This research aims to examine and uncover the meaning of the word bahrain. This study employed a semiotic approach and a qualitative descriptive research method. The stages in analyzing the data are isytiqaq kabir, syntagmatic-paradigmatic, and semiotics analysis. Isytiqaq kabir was adopted to determine the denotative meaning of the Bahrain word. Syntagmatic-paradigmatic analysis was employed to explain the valence of the bahraini. Semiotics was adopted to analyze the signs in the verses that build meaning. Based on the isytiqaq kabir analysis, the term bahr signifies sea, honor, a prominent position, knowledge, benefit, and being generous. Meanwhile the result of syntagmatic-paradigmatic analysis, bahrain has two seas of knowledge: rational and intuitive knowledge. After going through three stages of linguistic analysis, Allah instructs Musa to learn from Khidr so that he can be wiser in dealing with his people. This research contributes to the treasures of new interpretations of the Qur'anic verses using linguistic concepts and theories.
