Abstract

This research is motivated by the low reading interest seen by the few students who visited the library during their free time, whereas high reading interest plays an important role in gaining reading skills. This study aims to describe the factors that influence students 'reading interest and to describe the factors that most influence students' reading interest. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. This research was conducted in SDN 125 Pekanbaru. The population in this study were all high-class students namely class IV, V and VI, which amounted to 148 students. The sample used in this study is a saturated sample, namely sampling techniques if all members of the population are sampled. So the sample in this study was all members of the population, amounting to 148 students, Based on the results of the study, it was found that the factors that affect students' interest in reading consisted of family environment factors, curriculum and school education factors that were not conducive, community infrastructure factors that did not support the increase in public reading interest and the existence and affordability of reading material. The results of the study of four factors that influence interest in reading can be concluded that the factors that most influence students' reading interest SDN 125 Pekanbaru namely the curriculum and school education factors that are not conducive which is equal to 35.474%

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of mind mapping to increase the ability of the operation of summing downward rows of dyscalculia students. This research utilized Single Subject Reseacrh (SSR) with A-B-A design. A-B-A design consisted of three conditions, namely the initial baseline (A1), intervention (B), and the final baseline (A2). This research data were obtained from a male dyscalculia student at grade III elementary school through fourteen observations by implementing mind mapping. Then, the data were analyzed by using visual analysis of graphic data. The ability to do the operation of summing downward rows for students in the initial baseline observation (A1) obtained a percentage of 0%, 0%, 0% in three times observations. Then, the intervention (B) was carried out by applying mind mapping and it was found that the percentage increased for 90%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 100% in five times observations. Finally, the observation at the final baseline (A2) found that the percentage increased by 35%, 70%, 80%, 100%, 100%, 100% in six times observations. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that applying mind mapping was effective in increasing the ability to perform the operation of summing downward rows of dyscalculia students.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop ruliba media based on local wisdom for learning the balance of ecosystem in the natural science subject at grade V SD a well as to determine the feasibilityof the learning media and the users’ response after using ruliba media based on local wisdom. This study used research and development as the research method, with Borg and Gall development model that have been modified by Sugiyono into 6 stages, namely: 1) problem analysis,2) data collection, 3) product design, 4) design validation, 5) design revision and 6) product testing (limited trial). The product of this research was ruliba learning media based on local wisdom for learning the balance of ecosystem in the natural science subject at grade V SD. The feasibility level of ruliba media was determined based on the assessment results from the experts consisting of material experts, media experts, ethnopedagogic experts, as well as teachers’ and students’ response. The average percentage of each assessment result was respectively 97.5%, 92.5%, 81%, 100%, and 95.6% which achieved the category of “very feasible” and “very good”. Based on this result, it could be concluded that local wisdom- based ruliba learning media was suitable to be used as a learning media for ecosystem balance lesson.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to assess the viability of using audio-visual learning media to promote students’ learning, particularly in thematic learning, as well as students’ responses to the media generated by researchers. The research approach was Research and Development (R&D) following the 4D (Four-D) development model of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Based on the opinions of teachers, media professionals, and material experts, the results demonstrated the viability of audio-visual media. Each teacher had an average score of 87.5%, while media specialists received an average score of 92.3% and material experts received an average score of 79.2%. Following that, the students' reactions to the media employed in the learning process were 96.9%. Based on the findings of these investigations, it was concluded that this research created audio-visual media products in the form of learning films in thematic learning for grade V Elementary School using Google Drive. The teacher and media expert validation results fell into the "Very Eligible" group, while material experts fell into the "Eligible" category. The "Very Good" category included evaluations of students’ responses. As a result, the product was stated to be suitable for use as a learning medium.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the teacher's efforts in improving students’ social studies critical thinking skills through the discovery model at SDN 111 Pekanbaru. The research design used was CAR (Classroom Action Research). This research was conducted on fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 111 Pekanbaru in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, with 27 students. This classroom action research was conducted through four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research consisted of 2 cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection to continue the next cycle.Meanwhile, the data analysis technique in this study was descriptive statistical analysis to describe data about the teachers’ and students’ activities to be observed. The results were that the Discovery Learning model improved students' critical thinking, which was seen from students’ learning outcomes in social studies subjects at grade V of SDN 111 Pekanbaru. Obviously, the social studies learning process before the implementation of the Discovery Learning model had a low percentage level, namely 3.70%. Meanwhile, after implementing the Discovery Learning model, there was a significant increase. In the first cycle, the results were 37.04%, while in the second cycle, the learning outcomes were 92.59%, with the number of students who completed as many as 25 students from 27 students at grade V of SDN 111 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Learning is essentially the process of interaction between learners and the learning environment coordinated by the teacher. Teachers have difficulty in the development of curriculum in accordance with online learning, learning management, character planting of learners due to limited interaction with learners, as well as limited efforts to empower learners. The implementation of online learning is supported by online learning devices such as smartphones, laptops with adequate connection networks and supported by several applications such as google classroom, video converence, telephone or live chat, zoom or through whatsapp group. The research used was School Action Research (PTS) using kemmis and Mc. Taggart model research designs. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 9 Rupat. The subject of this study was a teacher, the number of teachers as many as 5 people. Two cycles that show the results of an analysis of teacher's abilities with an increased average. Cycle I averaged 33.33%, while in cycle II the average gained 66.66%. These results can be seen from the ability of teachers to use, understand, skill, combine, and develop applications as a means of online learning.
