Abstract

This article discusses the transformation of dakwah (Islamic preaching) from conventional methods to digital, known as cyberdakwah, in the modern era. Digital dakwah has become a global phenomenon by leveraging internet technology, allowing Islamic messages to be spread more widely and efficiently. Society now has easier access to religious information through social media and search engines like Google, which has replaced the traditional role of scholars in providing religious knowledge. This phenomenon leads to a paradigm shift in acquiring dakwah knowledge, moving from religious scholars and institutions to digital platforms. The article examines the impact of this shift, including the incommensurability between knowledge from scholars and Google, as well as the sudden change in the patterns of seeking religious information. While cyberdakwah holds great potential, challenges arise regarding the superficiality of messages and the lack of personal connection between the preacher and the audience. Therefore, integrating digital and conventional dakwah is seen as essential to ensure that dakwah messages are received more deeply and responsibly.

Abstract

This qualitative research seeks to examine the relation and implicaton of maddah (da’wah teaching materials) to discover new understandings of Islamic teachings especially on the issues of natural disaster occured in Gorontalo. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews to the preachers, natural disaster victims, and the members of Indonesian Ulema Council of Gorontalo (MUI). This research reveals that there ara at least two main argument of maddah in responding natural disasters. In the first stream, there is maddah that focuses on how natural disaster should be coped with human repentances to the God due to their exploitative actions toward the natural balances; while on the other hand, a madah that moves beyond boundaries of doctrines and ask for direct actions to save the earth. Built on the scholarship of dialectical framework, this paper argues that the difference between maddah teachings can be explained by contextualizing the issues of natural disaster through three primary principles: akidah, sharia and akhlaq. In praxis, this maddah’s vision then manifests in the spirit of natural disaster advocacy such as mutual aid, climate awareness and justice, caring and other collective actions that can guarantee safety as a serious devotion to the God.

Abstract

Vote buying or buying and selling of votes is one of the phenomena of election violations that is increasingly characterizing electoral democracy in Indonesia. Even though this practice which harms the democratic system is widely opposed, it does not necessarily mean that vote buying disappears from general election polemics in this country. This research, which uses survey method, will reveal the results of vote mobilization through the practice of vote buying in society and whether religious moral values have a significant role in influencing the results of voter decisions, especially in Regional Elections (Pilkada) in Bone Regency. Bolango. The quantitative data for this research were obtained from the results of a survey with a number of respondents who were interviewed using a list of questionnaires that had been compiled systematically, the results of which were then combined using a qualitative approach using James Scott's patron-client theory. The results of this research show that the majority of Bone Bolango residents understand the illegal practice of vote buying, but this does not necessarily mean that this practice is rejected in general elections in the area. Regional socio-economic conditions also seem to play an important role in people's decisions in accepting or rejecting existing money politics practices. However, the religious values inherent in individuals are in fact unable to influence society to reject the invitation to vote buying. Keywords: vote buying, electoral democracy, regional elections

Abstract

This research analyzes the patterns of social interaction and tolerance between the Malay community and the Batak ethnic group in Bagan Pete, Jambi City. Known for its pluralistic characteristics since the pre-independence era, Jambi City shows how ethnic diversity can be a positive force instead of a source of conflict. Jambi City's Bagan Pete became the focus of the research due to its high diversity driven by the presence of Jalan Lintas Timur and Alam Barajo Terminal, which attracted many migrants, especially ethnic Batak who are predominantly Christian. Through a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with ten key informants, the research reveals the complex social dynamics between the two communities. The results show that social interactions manifest in various forms, including cooperation, conflict, competition and accommodation. Positive interactions are mainly seen in daily social and economic activities, with conflicts that arise generally minor in nature and can be resolved through constructive dialogue. Religious tolerance is a prominent aspect, shown through the Malay community's respect for different beliefs, reinforced by initiatives to develop religious understanding through study groups, Islamic schools, and Qur'anic learning. The findings have practical implications for local government policy development and community development, including the importance of interethnic interaction programs, interfaith dialogue, and strengthening the role of community leaders in maintaining social harmony.

Abstract

This study specifically focuses on elaborating on the atsar (impact) of the da'wah activities conducted by the Tablighi Jamaat in the South Coast region of Gorontalo City. Furthermore, based on the findings, good da'wah practices in coastal areas will be identified. The scope of da'wah atsar in this context refers to how the mad'u (audience of da'wah) responds to the Tablighi Jamaat's da'wah efforts in the region. These responses encompass cognitive, affective, and behavioural aspects. The objective of this study is to identify the atsar and good da'wah practices applicable to coastal areas. Accordingly, this research aims to: (1) Describe the da'wah activities of the Tablighi Jamaat in the South Coast region of Gorontalo City, and (2) Conduct a deeper analysis of the da'wah footprint of the Tablighi Jamaat in the region. The findings of this study indicate that: First, the da'wah method employed by the Tablighi Jamaat follows the  khuruj method, which involves venturing out in the path of Allah. This process begins with fostering social connections (silaturahmi), reciting ta'lim , and subsequently engaging in jaula practices. This approach has been implemented along the southern coast of Gorontalo City for the past 12 years. Second, the atsar of the Tablighi Jamaat's da'wah efforts in the South Coast region is significant and yields optimal results. This is evidenced by observable transformations in the community’s daily life, such as the increased observance of prayer, enhanced religious knowledge, strengthened social ties, and active participation in the commemoration of Islamic holidays.

Abstract

Abstract

This research explores the mystical dimension in the da'wah (Islamic missionary) strategy of Wali Songo, a group of prominent Islamic figures in the history of Islamization in Java. The study investigates how Sufi elements and mysticism were integrated into cultural expressions to support the dissemination of Islamic teachings. The research was motivated by the need to understand the success of Wali Songo's inclusive approach, especially in engaging local belief systems and cultural traditions. This study employed a qualitative approach using descriptive-analytical methods. Data were collected from classical texts, folklore, and previous research on Wali Songo. The findings show that Wali Songo's da'wah extensively adopted Sufi practices such as dhikr, wirid, and the use of spiritual symbols. They reinterpreted local cultural expressions—like wayang performances, gamelan, and traditional ceremonies—as Islamic mediums. The cultural accommodation strategy, especially by figures such as Sunan Kalijaga, reveals a sophisticated understanding of local wisdom and the effective contextualization of Islamic teachings.

Abstract

The development process around the world is faced with a dilemma, namely whether development keep going continued, consider the impact it causes, namely damaging environment. One proof is and more it's hot earth's temperature as a result of clearing forests for the sake of generating development various crisis environments is one of them is global warming. This is thought to be caused by the "ignorance" factor of world leaders about concepts-based ecology. Therefore, giving knowledge and understanding since early to generation young people, especially students, about concepts based on “eco-literacy,” is urgent to do. Based on this thought, it is necessary to implement the activity in the form of devotion in society (P2M), especially for students in Elementary School, to improve eco-literacy through delivery in the form instructional pack. One of the methods to evaluate the success of a service program public is based on the evaluation initial (before the program is implemented) compared to the results end (after the program is done), so it looks at whether there is improvement in a way significant or not. If there is, then can it be said that the P2M program was successful? The methods applied are, at the beginning of activities, visiting the school, then the team giving an explanation and then giving test pre-test to the students, and then sharing a small book called learning package about eco-literacy. After around one-half month, with the students' estimates already reading the learning package contents, the team came back to class and provided a post-test. The difference between the two tests found there was an improvement in students' eco-literacy significantly, so it can be concluded that the P2M program implemented was successful. Based on this activity, recommendations could be delivered that in every learning, teachers are asked to always tuck in basic concepts, for early use to improve students’ eco-literacy, therefore, in the future, they are the ones who will become national leaders.
