Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the Make a Match instructional method on student learning outcomes in the subject of Aqidah Akhlak. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research was conducted with a sample of 47 fifth-grade students at Madrasah ibtidaiyah Ahliyah II Palembang. The experimental group consisted of 23 students from class VD, while the control group included 24 students from class VE. Data collection methods included tests, classroom observations, and documentation. The test instruments were subjected to validity and reliability testing, as well as item difficulty and discrimination index analysis. Data were analyzed using an Independent Samples t-test. The findings indicate the following: (1) Prior to the implementation of the Make a Match method, only 3 students (13%) in the experimental group achieved mastery, while 20 students (86.9%) did not. (2) After the intervention, 16 students (69.6%) in the experimental group reached the mastery level, with 7 students (30.3%) remaining below the threshold. (3) In the control group, which did not receive the intervention, only 7 students (29.2%) achieved mastery, while 17 students (70.7%) did not. (4) Hypothesis testing using the Independent Samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These results support the conclusion that the Make a Match learning method has a positive and significant impact on student achievement in Aqidah Akhlak, particularly in enhancing mastery of moral and religious concepts.

Abstract

Spatial ability constitutes a critical cognitive skill that facilitates students' capacity to comprehend and manipulate spatial information. In recent years, the integration of technology—particularly interactive multimedia tools such as GeoGebra—has garnered increasing attention as a means to enhance spatial ability among elementary school students. This study presents a literature review examining the effectiveness of GeoGebra in fostering spatial abilities in elementary education between 2020 and 2024. A total of eleven peer-reviewed articles were identified using Harzing’s Publish or Perish software in conjunction with Google Scholar. Each study was systematically analyzed, and pertinent data were synthesized into a table summarizing the title, authorship, year of publication, and principal findings. The review indicates that, relative to conventional instructional methods, the use of GeoGebra significantly enhances students’ mathematical comprehension. Key trends identified include notable improvements in visualization, mental rotation, and spatial problem-solving abilities among students engaged in GeoGebra-based instruction. The findings underscore the potential of GeoGebra as an effective pedagogical tool for promoting spatial reasoning and conceptual understanding in elementary mathematics education. These insights carry important implications for curriculum development, suggesting that technology-enhanced learning environments can foster greater student engagement and a deeper grasp of geometric concepts.

Abstract

The implementation of three-dimensional textbooks in both public and private elementary schools within the Semarang city area remains limited with most institutions still relying on conventional printed versions. However, AR-based mathematics textbooks—already adopted in parts of Indonesia—offer interactive visual experiences that can enhance students’ critical and creative thinking. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model developed by Luther-Sutopo, which includes six phases: concept development, design, material collection, assembly, testing, and distribution. A limited trial was conducted at SDN Sawah Besar 01 Semarang. The outcomes of the study are as follows: (1) The development of the 2nd grade thematic AR textbook linked to the Pancasila Student Profile, featuring engaging and interactive AR content; (2) high validation scores from experts—89 (material) and 87.75 (media)—indicating strong suitability for use in thematic learning at the second-grade level; (3) Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) results demonstrated a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.05) in critical and creative thinking among students using the AR textbook compared to the control group. These results suggest that AR-enhanced thematic textbooks are both effective and viable for wider adoption in elementary schools across Semarang.

Abstract

Tolerance and nationalism are essential components of character education that require focused development during the elementary school years. These values can be effectively cultivated through music education, particularly when aligned with the principles of the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) curriculum. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach utilizing a case study method to explore the integration of character education within the context of music instruction. The findings provide a comprehensive account of the independent learning framework in elementary education and its correlation with music arts pedagogy. Specifically, the study identifies strategies for enhancing students’ tolerance and nationalistic attitudes through music education, as well as the challenges encountered and proposed solutions within this instructional context. The results demonstrate that music education serves as a powerful medium for fostering a sense of tolerance and nationalism among students, thereby reinforcing the development of these core character traits in alignment with the goals of holistic and independent learning.

Abstract

The development of critical thinking skills at the elementary school level is a foundational component in preparing students to navigate complex, real-world problems that demand analytical reasoning, evaluative judgment, and effective problem-solving. This study investigates the efficacy of an interactive e-module grounded in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) principles in enhancing the critical thinking abilities of fourth-grade students, with a particular focus on mathematics and science instruction. A quasi-experimental design was implemented, comprising an experimental group that utilized the PBL-based e-module and a control group that received conventional instruction. Data collection methods encompassed pre- and post-tests measuring critical thinking performance, observational protocols documenting student interaction with the module, student perception questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with both students and teachers to elicit qualitative insights. The findings indicate that students in the experimental group exhibited significantly greater gains in critical thinking skills, as evidenced by a substantial improvement between pre- and post-test scores. Moreover, these students engaged more actively in collaborative discussions and problem-solving tasks relative to their peers in the control group. The results underscore the effectiveness of PBL-based e-modules as pedagogical tools for fostering critical thinking at the elementary level. The study's implications point to the transformative potential of integrating PBL frameworks into digital learning environments to enhance educational quality and student engagement in primary education settings

Abstract

Teacher professionalism is a key factor in ensuring the quality of elementary education, particularly amid technological disruption and evolving global learning paradigms. This study explores an effective model for developing teacher professionalism to enhance basic education in Indonesia. Using a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes academic literature, policy documents, and recent research through data reduction, coding, comparison, and synthesis. Five existing models of teacher professional development were identified: conventional training-based, mentoring-based, practitioner community-based, digital technology-based, and integrated holistic models. Based on these, the study proposes the Continuous Integrative Teacher Professionalism Development Model (MPGIB), which integrates five essential components: development of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) through practitioner communities, tiered mentoring, digital platforms, collaborative action research, and portfolio-based recognition. MPGIB offers a transformative approach, positioning teachers as reflective professionals with the autonomy for contextual self-development. Its implementation has implications for reforming teacher working groups (KKG/MGMP), optimizing professional development funds, strengthening evidence-based quality assurance, and redefining teachers as agents of educational change—ultimately contributing to improved teaching practices and the quality of basic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study was prompted by the observed deficiency in students’ comprehension of the rights and obligations of school community members—a gap that has significant implications for their daily conduct and interpersonal behavior. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved two groups—experimental and control—each comprising 30 fourth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through a combination of knowledge assessments, attitude observation checklists, and self-reflection questionnaires. The resulting data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests and descriptive statistical methods. The findings reveal that the implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) strategies—specifically poster creation and collaborative group discussions—led to a statistically significant enhancement in students’ understanding of civic responsibilities, as evidenced by an average increase of 15% in post-intervention scores (p < 0.05). Furthermore, notable improvements were observed in students’ attitudes, particularly in dimensions of responsibility and collaboration, as indicated by both observational and self-reflective measures. These results suggest that project-based authentic assessment constitutes an effective pedagogical approach for fostering both cognitive and affective development in elementary civic education.

Abstract

The Adiwiyata school program does not always run smoothly. Teachers find it difficult to consistently demonstrate environmentally conscious behavior, and monotonous and unvaried activities reduce the interest of students, teachers, and school staff. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the management of Adiwiyata Mandiri School at SMP Negeri 31 Semarang. The research approach used is qualitative. The type of research is phenomenology. The qualitative research design consists of three stages: orientation, focused exploration, and data analysis. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is Miles and Huberman's data analysis, which is a systematic and interactive method for analyzing qualitative data. The results of the study show that: First, planning was carried out by compiling school environmental assessments and environmental action plans. The principal then formed a school Adiwiyata team and conducted an initial identification and assessment of the school environment. Second, Organization was carried out by determining teacher resources, planning and developing the organization, assigning and delegating authority. Third, Implementation was carried out by directing and motivating the principal, implementing independent Adiwiyata school management, supervising the principal, and reporting on the success of the independent Adiwiyata school. Fourth, Supervision of independent Adiwiyata school management was carried out through evaluation of the results of independent Adiwiyata school management, correction, and follow-up. The author suggests that school principals pay more attention to implementation and evaluation. Teachers are required to always be ready to carry out activities.
