Abstract

This study aims to determine the right leadership strategy to identify and describe the implementation of character education with various backgrounds of students after the covid-19 pandemic. By applying multicultural learning, it is hoped that it will be able to teach theoretical concepts about various good or bad characters, but rather try to influence the character of good students. in the direction the teacher expects. This study uses an ex post facto qualitative design with data collection through observation and case studies. Sources of data obtained from informants, namely principals, teachers, students, and parents. The result of the research is that the implementation of character education for students with various backgrounds is carried out by getting used to good characters who are accustomed to religious activities and the teacher gives examples of good character (respect for teachers, fellow students and younger siblings) in everyday life. In addition, it also gets used to saying greetings and smiling when meeting anyone, such as teachers, friends, and other people outside of school. There is an additional excellent program, namely the compulsory Koran program for every student. Even with the Covid-19 condition, the portion of character education has not decreased as face-to-face schools, but has increased. The teacher monitors the character development of students starting from waking up in the morning until going back to sleep the next night. The role of the principal is very supportive of the character education that has been implemented in schools. Not only that, with the covid-19 pandemic, school principals made a policy by providing quota pulses to be used to communicate with students so that the habit of good character continues to run even at home.

A case study approach was utilized to gain insight into the experience of six Muslim undergraduate students in Batusangkar city. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed through coding, categorization, and identification of key data concepts. The findings indicate that the intensity of several game use can influence the prevalence of internet gaming disorder among Muslim undergraduate students. Disrupted conduct, social withdrawal, aggression and poor academic performance are among the many problems that results from excessive gaming use. Abstract

Post Covid-19 conditions still leave trauma for some people, especially those who have experienced pain and even loss of family members. The ability to deal with trauma is the ability to adapt to conditions. The aim of this study was to find out how optimism and altruism influence post-pandemic religious coping. The subjects of this study amounted to 820 men and women, aged 23-58 years old. The brief RCOPE, LOT-R and the altruism scale are instruments to find out the level of religious coping, optimism and altruism respectively. Based on the parametric-statistical analysis with product moment correlation from Pearson, there was a correlation between optimism and religious coping and there was also a correlation between altruism and religious coping. Based on multiple regression analysis, this study showed that both variables can simultaneously be predictors of religious coping.

Abstract

Mental health problems are still prominent topics among countries in the last few decades, and Indonesia is no exception. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a healthy mental state entails individuals realizing and maximizing their potentials, effectively managing life's pressures, excelling in their studies and work, and making meaningful contributions to society. Promotion of the importance of mental health and its treatment has been abundant, but psychotherapy with a religious approach has not received much attention. This study reviews the thoughts of Abu Zayd Al-Balkhi as a pioneer in cognitive therapy, positive psychology, and its relation to the development of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which was first developed by Aaron T. Beck and further developed in the era of modern psychology. There are several similarities in Al-Balkhi's thoughts and the concept of CBT, including views on depression, its symptoms and treatment, as well as the importance of cultivating positive and rational thoughts in treating patients with psychological disorders. The difference between the two lies in the perspective of religiosity instilled by Al-Balkhi, that faith is important in observing worldly problems, and the awareness that true happiness lies in the hereafter. In addition, CBT has undergone significant development both in terms of the disciplinary aspects of psychology and its application in people's lives. The results of this qualitative study are expected to provide an alternative psychotherapy in dealing with mental health problems for Muslim communities.

Abstract

The perception and role of practical wisdom in implementing religious moderation policies which are built from the lecturer's perspective are open and democratic because they uphold academic culture. However, the unsystematic implementation of top-down policies has the potential to ignore the creative participation of task implementers in the field. The approach to insert religious moderation is stronger when listening to the good practices of learning implementers, namely lecturers. This article aimed to find out the role of lecturers' initiatives in strengthening religious moderation as implementers of learning in non-religious courses. The research was conducted with a qualitative phenomenological type. The research participants involved twenty-seven non-religious lecturers from 9 study programs. The data were extracted using the technique of focused group discussions and document analysis. The results of the lecturers’ practical wisdom are as follows, 1) religious moderation is perceived by lecturers as a wise view in responding to differences, a middle-way view that is not extreme to the left and right, and the ability to moderate multiculturally; 2) lecturers as learning actors in the field have creative, authentic and autonomous goodwill in inserting religious moderation so that responsive lecturers are found to prevent early risks of student radicalism, intolerance, and religious exclusivism; 3) lecturers can find learning methods in class by inserting religious moderation in general courses even though there are no technical-operational instructions in the learning process. It showed that lecturers in the context of implementing religious moderation responded quickly so that their practical wisdom provides solutions to accelerate the achievement of religious moderation that is actually more participatory.

Abstract

University students are individuals who must always adapt amidst the rapid and uncertain changing times. Good psychological well-being is needed to achieve optimization in every activity, both academic and non-academic. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of counting blessings in managing the univesity students’ psychological well-being. This study applied a nonrandomized control group design with a pretest and posttest, consisting of 28 participants having psychological well-being from low to moderate levels. The participants were divided into two groups, the experimental group and the control group. The levels of psychological well-being were measured by using The Scale of Psychological Well-being (SPWB) developed by Ryff (2014) adapted by Rihlati (2018). Psychological well-being scores of the pretest and posttest were processed by SPSS 25 for Windows. This study indicated a p value of 0.394 (p>0.05), meaning that there were no significant different levels of psychological well-being between the group performing counting blessings and the group not performing counting blessings. Then, this study also found that there were significantly different levels of psychological well-being of the participants before and after performing counting blessings with a p-value of 0.002 (p>0.05). The efforts made by each student to interpret every positive thing in their daily life are beneficial to help them have good psychological well-being.
