Abstract

Risk perception and critical thinking have become the two important cognitive skills for adolescents to possess in order to prevent risky online behavior such as spreading fake news. These skills are related to digital literacy and can be improved through training. However, most of the existing literature is in digital literacy training, online risk perception, and critical thinking by using correlational approach and conventional digital literacy training. For this reason, this research aimed to integrate Islamic values into digital training to improve risk perception and critical thinking skills among Muslim adolescents. This study hypothesized that digital literacy based on Islamic values can improve adolescents risk perception and critical thinking skills. To test this hypothesis, a pre-test post-test within experimental research design involving 112 Muslim adolescents in Surabaya was conducted. The participants were provided with digital literacy training which was embedded with Islamic values in four training sessions. The risk perception and critical thinking scale were used to measure each dependent variable. The results of data analysis using the paired sample t-test showed that there were significant differences in the scores of risk perception and critical thinking skills before and after training. Thus, the hypotheses in this study were accepted. The practical implications of the results of this study are also discussed.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between gratitude and happiness in mothers of exceptional children. The research hypothesis in this study was a positive relationship between gratitude and happiness in mothers of exceptional children. The participants in this study were 65 mothers of exceptional children aged 18 - 60 years. This study used two scales, namely the happiness scale translated by Ramadhonna (2017), referring to The Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS) developed by Lyubomirsky and Lepper (1999). The gratitude scale, adapted from Surya (2016), refers to the aspect of the gratitude scale proposed by Al-Jauziyah (1998). The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data in this study. The results of the data analysis showed that r = 0,520 with the significance p = 0,000 (p <0,05). The determination analysis (r2) showed that gratitude contributes 27% to the happiness of mothers of special needs children. Thus, it can be concluded that the hypothesis proposed in this study was accepted. The researcher also conducted additional analyses based on the demographic data, and then the discussions on the findings will be discussed further. Gratitude is highly recommended in interventions to increase happiness or well-being.

Abstract

All Muslims look toward the Quran for spiritual and moral direction. Since 1400 years ago, Al-Quran has stated its role as a treatment and therapy for human illness through the term of Syifa. The purpose of this study was to examine important other choice spiritual therapeutic verses in the Quran and determine the parts (juz) and verses (ayaat) where keywords and phrases pertinent to the Quran as a medication for every illness are stated. Currently, Islamic medicine is used as a therapeutic treatment for both physical and mental illnesses. Islamic medicine practitioners usually incorporate specific Quranic verses into their treatment through a variety of methods. This study uses the systematic review approach to gather information from the texts of previous and current scholars and then analyzes the data using a PRISMA methodology. Through comprehensive study among mufassiriin and modern experiments, Quranic verses have had great impact as a treatment or therapy for human ailment, both physically and mentally. As a result, instead of traditional medicine, this technique should be acknowledged and adopted as a supplementary therapy among Muslims.

Descriptive analysis finds aspects of academic resilience, namely problem-facing ability, self-adjustment, resilience, and problem-solving ability. The results of the research design stage have formulated an Achievement motivation Training module for disaster-prone students. The study recommends the primary role of teachers in helping students achieve higher levels of academic resilience. One of the recommended programs is achievement motivation training, which can be adopted by teachers through classical and group approaches.

Abstract

The phenomenon of santri students in Indonesia encompasses various aspects that reflect the influence of pesantren education and Islamic values on their experiences and identities in the university environment. Santri students in Indonesia, like students in general, may also encounter various challenges during their university studies. However, there are some issues that are more commonly experienced by santri students, particularly related to their educational backgrounds in pesantren and their religious experiences. A total of 186 santri students were involved in filling out questionnaires measuring academic commitment, the application of coercive power, the imposition of sanctions, and compliance. Based on mediation analysis, the results indicate that the application of coercive power and the imposition of sanctions can serve as appropriate mediators in bridging the influence of academic commitment to compliance. Compliance among santri students is not solely a result of their academic commitment because the level of compliance can be shaped by the university's application of coercive power and the imposition of sanctions for students who violate rules.

Abstract

Madrasah principals and teachers become an entry point for policy to address disparities in student achievement and quality of madrasahs in Indonesia. Unfortunately, not many studies have tested the theoretical model of teacher job satisfaction as a mediator of the influence of teacher psychological capital and principal leadership style on teacher performance. The population of this study was public and private madrasah teachers in Malang Regency, East Java, Indonesia. At the same time, the research sample consisted of 356 teachers selected by the purposive sampling method. The measuring tool uses the Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ-24), the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ)-5X, and the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS). Testing construct validity used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), while data analysis used Structural Equating Modeling (SEM) with Mplus 7.4 software. The results of SEM show that the theoretical model of teacher job satisfaction as a mediator variable in the influence of teacher psychological capital and leadership style of madrasah principals on teacher performance fit the empirical data. The results also show that teacher job satisfaction mediates the effect of teacher psychological capital and principal leadership style on teacher performance, but the direct effect of the two independent variables on the dependent variable is stronger.

Abstract

Abu Zayd al-Balkhi was a Muslim polymath who made significant contributions to the field of psychology, particularly in his views on depression and anxiety. This research aims to comprehend al-Balkhi’s perspective on depression and anxiety in the context of Islam during his time and to contribute to the understanding of mental health that aligns with Islamic values. The study employs a literature research method to analyze his main work, “Masalih al-Abdan wa al-Anfus”, and investigates al-Balkhi’s opinions on depression and anxiety. Researchers also classify different types of depression and the understanding of anxiety as proposed by al-Balkhi. The research findings reveal that al-Balkhi was one of the early pioneers in understanding mental disorders by categorizing psychological symptoms within a more modern framework. Furthermore, the study highlights his views on the connection between physical and mental health and emphasizes the significance of maintaining a balance between the two.
