Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of creative drama-based psychoeducation on emotional intelligence in adolescents. A one-group pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design was adopted. Before the treatment, an initial assessment was conducted, and 10 adolescents from an orphanage were assigned. Creative drama-based psychoeducation consisted of five sessions. Three assessments were conducted, namely emotional intelligence scale, general knowledge related to emotional intelligence, knowledge related to emotional intelligence skills. The results showed that creative drama-based psychoeducation had a significant effect on emotional intelligence of adolescents in orphanage with a significance value of .005 (p value <.05). Based on this result, analysts, practitioners, and parties were expected to cooperate and play an active role in developing emotional intelligence of adolescents in orphanage through creative drama-based psychoeducation.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the K-Pop industry has intensified the negative impact of dating scandals on parasocial relationships between fans and idols. This study examines cultural differences in how Indonesian and South Korean K-Pop fans respond to such scandals, which may lead to parasocial breakups. Based on parasocial relationship theory and employing a qualitative comparative design, six participants, three from each country, were recruited through convenience sampling. Findings reveal that fans experienced both positive and negative emotions, including acceptance and endorsement. South Korean fans tended to respond more negatively, whereas Indonesian fans displayed greater positivity and support toward their idols. By highlighting significant cultural differences, these findings provide insights into the dynamics of fan–idol relationships and emphasize the importance of fostering supportive and healthy fan cultures to mitigate the psychological impact of dating scandals on idols.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the construct validity of Tes Minat Vokasional Indonesia (TMVI) in gauging the interests of vocational high school students. To achieve the stated objective, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was adopted as the study approach. Accordingly, the respondents of this investigation comprised 474 students from SMKN 2 Surakarta. The obtained results showed that model fit indicators such as CFI, TLI, SRMR, and RMSEA, all fell within the designated ranges (CFI and TLI ≥ .90, SRMR ≤ .08, and RMSEA ≤ .06). This suggest that TMVI had a rather good construct to measure the interests of vocational high school students. However, the factor loading analysis conducted reflected that some items showed factor loading values below the designated threshold (≥0.15). This observation invariably imply that the contribution of the items having low factor loading values to the measured construct was minimal. A plausible reason for this is because the vocabulary used by vocational high school pupils was not age-appropriate. Therefore, if TMVI is to be used to gauge the interests of vocational high school students, its wordings must be modified.

Abstract

Adolescents with risky behaviors often struggle to regulate their emotions adaptively. Emotion regulation is essential for helping adolescents evaluate and respond to emotional situations in a healthy manner. Parent-child relationships and self-esteem have been found to influence these regulation abilities. This study aimed to examine whether self-esteem mediates the relationship between adolescents’ perceptions of parent-child relationships and their use of emotion regulation strategies. This quantitative research involved 214 junior high school students identified with tendencies toward risky behavior, using a cross-sectional design and convenience sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with IBM AMOS 24. The results showed that self-esteem partially and fully mediated the relationship between parent-child relationships and emotion regulation strategies, including Cognitive Reappraisal and Expressive Suppression. These findings highlight the significance of enhancing family-based interventions and fostering adolescent self-esteem to support effective emotion regulation, particularly for those at risk of maladaptive behavior.

Abstract

Adolescents in an excellent boarding school are facing high challenges and demands. The fulfillment of adolescents’ psychological well-being (PWB) enables the development of various competencies, supports the achievement of satisfactory outcomes, and contributes to healthier functioning in adulthood. Therefore, this study aimed to   determine the role of students’ ability to manage challenges and demands (adaptability) in mediating the relationship between social competence (SC, social and emotional skills including cognitive reappraisal, prosocial behavior, social efficacy, normative and social adjustment), perceived social support (PSS), and PWB. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was adopted with adopted. The participants were 402 students in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Serpong and Pekalongan, and a path analysis method was conducted with Smart-PLS. The result showed that adaptability mediated the influence of SC and PSS on the PWB. Furthermore, the study recommended that school need to provide programs to facilitate students’ adaptability through the development of positive PSS and improvement of SC.

Abstract

The digital transformation of the modern workplace has reshaped the psychological landscape for young workers, especially Millennials and Generation Z, navigating Indonesia's evolving labour market. This study presents a systematic review of empirical literature examining the psychological challenges faced by young Indonesian workers in the digital era, focussing on core themes such as burnout, stress, quiet quitting, motivation, work-life balance, and coping strategies. Guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, 28 peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025 were selected from the Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar and Garuda databases. The review identifies prevalent issues such as emotional exhaustion, job insecurity, and disengagement, while also highlighting adaptive responses including intrinsic motivation, digital self-efficacy, and culturally grounded coping mechanisms. The findings underscore the importance of supportive workplace environments, leadership quality, and digital competence in mitigating psychological distress. This review not only synthesises context-specific insights, but also provides a foundation for the development of targeted interventions and policy recommendations to improve mental well-being among Indonesia’s emerging digital workforce.

Abstract

Trauma experienced after incarceration is a heavy burden for former prisoners during their reintegration into society. Apart from social stigma and economic difficulties, prisoners frequently face profound psychological pressure due to traumatic experiences during imprisonment. This study aimed to investigate the experience of PTG among former prisoners in Indonesia after their release. A phenomenological design was used and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 6 male former prisoners. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was also used to analyze participant responses. Participants' perceptions of PTG showed five key themes, namely (1) self-understanding and personal development, (2) relationships with family and social networks, (3) spirituality and relationship with God, (4) coping strategies and mechanisms, and (5) a greater sense of meaning in life. The results corresponded to Tedeschi and Calhoun's theory and introduced an additional theme regarding coping strategies and mechanisms. In conclusion, the development and implementation of psychosocial interventions should be prioritized for former prisoners.

Abstract

Assessors play a central role in assessment center (AC) but few educationally grounded tools exist to evaluate or train rating accuracy. Therefore, this research aimed to develop a simulated AC designed for assessor learning and examining social-cognitive judgment processes. The development followed the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing and six structured stages, integrating principles from Funder’s Realistic Accuracy Model (RAM). The simulation targets two dimensions assessed through written and oral presentation exercises. The task content was derived from real assessee performances, transformed into standardized scenarios, and performed by trained roleplayers. The simulation was piloted with 23 psychology graduate students serving as novice assessors following expert review. The results showed that there was a significant dimension-by-exercise interactions in rating accuracy in line with RAM’s emphasis on cue availability and interpretation. The simulated AC offered a fidelity-based tool for advancing understanding of assessor cognition and strengthening training practices.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the psychological dynamics and identify the relationships between survival-resistance strategies, social support, and resilience among Indonesian Navy cancer survivors. A mixed-methods sequential exploratory design was adopted by combining in-depth interviews of 3 participants with quantitative surveys of 36 respondents. The qualitative analysis identified five critical phases in psychological trajectory which were symptom avoidance behavior and denial, multidimensional psychological distress (anxiety, body image disruption, spiritual disappointment), intra-individual mitigation through religiosity and cognitive reappraisal, amplification by family and institutional support, and resilience outcomes manifesting as tranquility and post-traumatic growth. The quantitative results showed substantial correlations between social support and resilience (r=0.894; p<0.001), social support and coping strategies (r=0.932; p<0.001), as well as coping strategies and resilience (r=0.839; p<0.001). The methodological triangulation confirmed that resilience was a synergistic product of intra-individual capacities and social ecology rather than an isolated dispositional attribute.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the role of loneliness as a mediator of the relationship between emotional dysregulation and doomscrolling among college students in Yogyakarta. The cross-sectional quantitative design included 200 active college students recruited through random sampling. Participants completed the Emotion Regulation Difficulties Scale (DERS), the De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale (DJGLS), and the Doomscrolling Scale (DS). Mediation analysis was conducted using bootstrapping-based analysis, Hayes PROCESS/ModMed on Jamovi. The results showed that emotional dysregulation directly predicted doomscrolling (β = .196, p = .020) and loneliness (β = .511, p < .001). Loneliness also increased doomscrolling (β = .549; p < .001) and partially mediated the relationship (β = .280; p < .001), with a total effect of β = .477 and a mediation proportion of 58.8%. These findings outlined the importance of emotion regulation interventions and social connection, strengthening programs on campus to reduce doomscrolling.
