Abstract

Clean water and proper sanitation are fundamental human needs. Nganti Village, located in Ngraho Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency, faces significant drought and clean water shortages, particularly during the dry season. The water quality remains subpar despite the presence of springs and water reservoirs. Consequently, processing raw water from the village's reservoir can offer a viable solution. This service activity aims to harness water reservoirs as a clean water source through multimedia filter (MMF) technology. The activities, conducted from 2022 to the end of 2023, encompass four stages: socializing the program plans, constructing multimedia filters (MMF), installing the water treatment unit on-site, and evaluating water quality, followed by necessary follow-ups. The primary activities involve installing water treatment units with MMF technology in collaboration with village officials and the community. The treated water is then tested for quality at the IPB University laboratory. Test results indicate that MMF technology significantly improves water quality, reducing parameters such as Magnesium, Manganese, Calcium, Iron, and Phosphate by 25.8‒97.8%, thus meeting quality standards. However, some parameters, such as TSS, COD, and Zinc, still exceed quality standards, necessitating further processing. This advanced water treatment requires involvement from the local government, particularly in funding through community empowerment programs, to install advanced treatment units and provide operational support for these units.

Abstract

Arisan Buntal Village is a small village in South Sumatra's Ogan Komering Ilir district. Duku (Lansium domesticum Corr) is a highly valued commodity in Arisan Buntal. The most significant barrier to straw development in Arisan Buntal is a need for high-quality seeds. Duku are traditionally grown; therefore, they take a long time to produce fruit. As a result, more advanced stitching techniques, such as the grafting technique, are required. However, because the youth of Arisan Buntal knew nothing about it and did not practice it, they tended to abandon the attempt down the business. This activity seeks to provide instruction in the Samsung puck technique production to the Arisan Buntal youth, allowing them to get superior duke crops and encouraging the sustainability of duke crops at the activity site. The evaluation of the activities revealed that the training participants improved their knowledge of duku-related commodities and grafting techniques. The post-test findings showed that 100% of the participants were aware of Arisan Buntal Village's potential as a hub for the growth of duku farming and the clamping method for duku crops. Furthermore, as many as 94% of participants had already tried the procedure with the assistance of specialists. Furthermore, the percentage of participants who prefer to apply the grafting method to the front has increased from 76.5% to 91.7%. The observation shows that the success rate of this technique reached 80%.

Abstract

Education is Indonesia's most potential investment in optimizing human resources (HR) quality. The proliferation of school dropout rates has become an educational problem in some areas of Indonesia, including Benteng Village. According to the Precision Data of Benteng Village Monograph, in 2020, 316 people, or 4.29% of the population, were classified as school dropouts. This condition causes the community to have limited skills, preventing them from maximizing the potential resources available. Therefore, preventive measures are needed to address this issue. The presence of the Agricultural Literacy Corner (PELITA) becomes a holistic and adaptive solution for the government and other stakeholders in empowering the community. This initiative aims to create upskilling, reskilling, and newskilling for the community to utilize existing agricultural resources and create a sustainable, intelligent agricultural village. Activities are implemented through socialization, counseling, training, and practice based on the ToT (Training of Trainer) scheme. The achievement of the activities can be seen from the results of the pre-test and post-test dissemination analyzed using statistical tests. The results show an increase from the pre-test score (M=2.25) to the post-test score (M=7.95). This is supported by a p-value of 0.000 < 0.001, indicating that the increase is not coincidental and has statistical significance. Therefore, the actualization of PELITA is expected to continue continuously.

Abstract

Excessive use of synthetic fertilizers causes a decrease in soil fertility, which can reduce crop production. Making liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from vegetable and fruit waste can reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers and support sustainable agriculture. The Golo Curu Permai farmer group has never implemented sustainable agriculture. This activity aims to reduce synthetic fertilizers' use to support sustainable agriculture and increase the knowledge and skills of farmer groups in producing liquid organic fertilizers independently. This activity was carried out at the Golo Curu Permai farmer group in Karot Village, Langke Rembong District, Manggarai Regency, with a total of 15 participants and through activity methods in the form of coordination and field surveys, extension, training or demonstration and evaluation. Evaluation is carried out by analyzing the initial test results before training (pre-test) and after training (post-test). The results of this activity show that the knowledge and skills of farmer groups after participating in training in making POC from organic waste increased by 30% from 50% to 85%.

Abstract

Goat's milk is a food of animal origin that is easily damaged and requires handling after the milking process. Ampelgading and Tirtoyudo sub-districts are areas in Malang Regency where some of the population are dairy goat breeders. This community service aims to provide socialization and education on good animal health management so that it can improve the quality of goat milk. The activity began with collecting farmer data and analyzing the situation of dairy goat farming. The socialization method was carried out by conducting focus group discussions about knowledge of animal health management and checking the quality of goat milk. Milk composition testing uses Lactoscan, while organoleptic testing is based on Indonesian National Standard 01-2346-2006 concerning organoleptic and sensory testing instructions. The results of community service show that the quality of dairy goat milk in Ampelgading and Tirtoyudo Districts is premium based on the Thailand Agriculture Standard 2008. The results of the organoleptic test of goat milk have remained the same based on SNI 3141-1-2011 regarding the quality of fresh milk. The results of this goat milk quality test can be used as a basis for farmers to improve livestock management and milking. Through this activity, farmers can implement good livestock health management so that the quality of goat milk and the selling price increase. This activity will encourage young farmers to be more interested in becoming dairy goat breeders who have high economic prospects and contribute to increasing goat milk productivity. Apart from that, this activity can improve the welfare of farmers by improving the quality of goat milk with higher selling power.
