Abstract

Insufficient sanitation in densely populated residential areas in Berok Nipah Village, especially the Muaro settlement, which is directly adjacent to the river estuary and beach, results in this area often having problems in the form of tidal floods that always carry debris into the village. A lack of land causes people to settle in areas adjacent to rivers and beaches. This activity aims to provide new understanding and information to the community regarding green technology and tidal flood prevention education to communities affected by tidal floods in residential areas. Education about tidal floods in the form of counseling, socialization, and discussion about green technology (rainwater harvesting, bipolar holes, and rain gardens) to the community as a form of activity to prevent natural disasters in the form of tidal floods in Berok Nipah Village. The existence of this educational activity allows the community to apply environmentally friendly technologies such as rainwater harvesting, bipolar holes, and rain gardens to prevent and reduce the impact of tidal flooding in the Berok Nipah Village community settlements.

Abstract

Indonesia's potential resources are beneficial for both organic and inorganic agricultural businesses. The presence of organic farming can shift consumer consumption patterns, resulting in market competition with inorganic producers. Marketing in the farming sector plays a crucial role in ensuring that agricultural products reach the final consumer. This activity aims to assist farmers in developing effective marketing strategies for organic farm products to strengthen agrarian competitiveness. The method used is a qualitative approach through observation and in-depth interviews, as well as conducting action research with the stages of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. This activity was conducted at the Tani Jaya Group in Ciaruteun Ilir Village, Cibungbulang District, Bogor Regency. Data analysis uses the SWOT matrix to examine internal and external factors. The activity results show that the Tani Jaya Group has great potential in organic farming, but limited digital knowledge hinders its marketing. A branding strategy for marketing organic agricultural products to strengthen agricultural competitiveness through social media, complete product information, and the pre-order (PO) system is essential. Therefore, digital marketing assistance and professional social media management are also needed to increase farmers' awareness of marketing strategies as promotional media.

Abstract

Adolescents, as national assets and agents of social transformation, face increasingly complex global challenges, particularly in the era of disruption and digitalization. Strengthening resilience is essential for preparing adolescents to navigate these changes effectively. In response to this need, the Dosen Pulang Kampung team from DPMA IPB University implemented an adolescent resilience education program based on the Kampung Ramah Keluarga development model. This program aimed to enhance adolescents' awareness and skills in building resilience. The program employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, emphasizing active engagement in learning, reflection, and action. This approach empowers adolescents by providing opportunities to identify challenges, explore solutions, and implement strategies suited to their needs and environmental conditions. The educational procedure was conducted through lectures, questionnaire assessments, group discussions, and SWOT analysis exercises. The program was conducted over five sessions from April to June 2024, involving 27 participants. The findings revealed that the program significantly improved adolescents' understanding of the challenges posed by digital disruption while enhancing their knowledge of developmental tasks, leadership, and self-management skills. Discussions and SWOT analysis exercises further enabled participants to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within their environment, fostering their readiness to become resilient, well-rounded individuals capable of contributing to the development of a family friendly community.

Abstract

UKM Abinisa is a leading producer in the duck egg processing industry in Serang, Banten. To maintain competitiveness, SME need to focus on product innovation and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Farming Practices (GFP) to ensure product safety. This community service program aimed to provide training related to GMP and GFP. Socialization and training activities were held on the same date in Sujung Village, Tirtayasa Subdistrict, Serang Regency, Banten. The steps of the activity included: a) pre-activity preparation, b) internal coordination, c) implementation, and d) evaluation. The activity began with a visit to a duck farm owned by one of UKM Abinisa's farmer partners. The first training session covered techniques for proper and effective feeding, disease prevention, and maintaining healthy living conditions for ducks. Practical sessions included duck herding or releasing them onto post-harvest rice fields, a method well-suited to the extensive rice fields around Sujung Village. This method is known as the rice-duck integration system. The evaluation results showed a high level of participant satisfaction, with the highest-rated material being Material 1: Duck Farming, scoring 69.57%. Material 3 scored similarly at 65.22%. Material 2: Introduction to GMP received the lowest score, likely because of the complexity and detailed nature of the regulations, which were unfamiliar to all participants.

Abstract

The village is the most real place where all economic and social activities of the community occur. From the village, all kinds of problems can be found along with the potential that can be developed. The existing potential needs to be developed so that the benefits can be felt by the surrounding community. Community service through the BIMA program in Cihideung Udik Village is carried out as an effort to encourage this potential. The service is carried out for 8 months from July to December 2024 with the aim of encouraging village progress by developing a rural business ecosystem through crystal guava commodities under the title of tourist villages. The scheme for developing a commodity-based business ecosystem is carried out in several stages starting from socialization, FGD, training, and intensive mentoring. Training and mentoring are key in completing the needs to form a village business ecosystem. The success indicators of the training and mentoring scheme are reflected in several aspects such as institutions, plant conditions, and community socialization. The institutional aspect gives good results with collaboration between institutions so that a tourist plan is born in Cihideung Udik Village. Meanwhile, the condition of the plants is considered good with a growth percentage reaching 100% and an average plant height reaching 60.84 cm. This shows that the training and mentoring scheme implemented is very effective so that it has a direct good impact on farmers. The development of this crystal guava commodity will help the economic growth of the local community and increase the tourist attractions in Cihideung Udik Village.

Abstract

Organic waste is a major environmental and societal concern. This waste originates from households, agricultural industries, and livestock. Piles of organic waste that are not managed properly will cause water, soil, and air pollution. Banda Lonthoir Village is one of the areas that has not implemented proper processing and utilization of organic waste. This is because Banda Lonthoir Village is the largest producer of nutmeg in Maluku. The nutmeg plants that are utilized are seeds and mace, whereas nutmeg skin is usually made into sweets, and most of it is thrown away as organic waste. One solution for processing organic waste from nutmeg skin is to use eco-enzymes. This activity aims to provide education and training in creating eco-enzymes to the community so that they can increase their knowledge on how to manage nutmeg skin waste. The method of implementing this activity is to provide materials and training processes for making eco-enzymes. The target of this activity is the Nutmeg Garden Agrotourism Farmers Group and the Banda Lonthoir Village apparatus. The results of this activity show that the community is very enthusiastic and participates in listening to the material and making eco-enzymes, as well as asking questions related to the activities provided. The community was able to make eco-enzymes according to the procedure explained and ferment 10 L of eco-enzyme. The community gave a positive response and had an impact on increasing community knowledge regarding how to manage nutmeg skin waste into eco-enzymes that are beneficial for the community and the environment.

Abstract

Farmer knowledge is an important factor in obtaining maximum cocoa production results. However, the majority of cocoa farmers in Bulili Village have limited knowledge of proper cultivation procedures in accordance with the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP). The cocoa farms in Bulili Village mostly have old cocoa plants and lack maintenance, which can impact the reduction in production yields. Maximum cocoa production can be achieved if farmers take good care of their crops. To achieve this, we aim to increase the knowledge of cocoa farmers in Bulili Village regarding proper cultivation procedures so that they can increase their production yields. This PKM (Community Service) activity was carried out using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The target of this activity was 15 cocoa farmers from Bulili Village who did not apply GAP. The results of the activity evaluation showed that the participants’ knowledge increased. Based on the results of the pre- and post-tests, there was an increase in the percentage of farmers with a good level of knowledge. The percentage increase in the number of farmers with a good level of knowledge of the field school activities on crop rehabilitation was 33%, in the GAP field school 47%, pest control 67%, liquid organic fertilizer 60%, and harvest and post-harvest 20%. In addition, the impact of increased knowledge has increased cocoa bean production to an average of 473.2 kg/ha/year from 395.6 kg/ha/year.

Abstract

Rabbits are easily adaptable and reproduce quickly, providing benefits to breeders. Kendal Regency is one of the areas in Central Java Province that has potential in the field of rabbit farming. One of the rabbit farming groups in Kendal Regency is the Aza Akmal Rabbit Farm, which develops New Zealand rabbits. The high number of rabbits is inversely proportional to the low market demand; thus, the marketing of rabbit meat is still limited to frozen carcasses. This is influenced by the lack of knowledge of breeders regarding the processing and marketing of rabbit meat products. The purpose of the community service activity was to provide education related to the importance of product innovation and how to process rabbit sausages to increase community income. The method used was direct skills training, and the level of preference was evaluated using a hedonic test on 25 panelists. The results of the activity were in the form of a brownish-white rabbit sausage product, with a distinctive aroma and taste of rabbit sausage, and a compact and chewy texture. The results of the hedonic test of the color parameters were quite liked, aroma liked, texture liked, taste liked, and overall liked. In conclusion, community service activities can add new knowledge related to processing rabbit sausages. The hedonic test results showed that the panelists liked the rabbit sausages, indicating their potential for development to improve the community's economy.

Abstract

The training in this community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the Wonosoco Village community to overcome organic waste and reduce the percentage of organic waste disposal in the final disposal site (TPA) through the processing of organic waste from fruits and vegetables into ecoenzymes. This activity is carried out through direct practical activities in several stages: analysis of community needs, activity design, delivery of materials, manufacture and application of ecoenzymes, and evaluation of activities. The training provided to PKK and farmer groups increased community knowledge of ecoenzyme knowledge by 95.24%. The benefits of ecoenzymes in the fields of agriculture and plantations as complementary nutrients for fertilizers and as cleaning materials for household appliances and the processing of vegetable and fruit waste were 96.67%. Knowledge about the economic potential of ecoenzymes increased by 100%. This organic waste processing training can also change community attitudes toward waste management to reduce the effects of greenhouse gases, as indicated by the percentage of behavior of disposing of organic waste directly in the trash from 67% down to 0% and switching to 85% to be processed into fertilizer or ecoenzymes and 15% given to livestock.

Abstract

The waste management training program for paving block production in Laut Biru Village aims to enhance community awareness and skills in sustainable plastic waste management. This program focused on transforming plastic waste into paving blocks as a waste management solution and an effort to support a circular economy. The methodology included observational surveys, program formulation through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), training implementation, as well as evaluation and monitoring. The initial results demonstrated an increase in community awareness of integrated waste management and environmental sustainability. Evaluations showed that 61.54% of the participants recognized paving block technology as a viable waste solution, while 84.62% showed improved awareness of the dangers of plastic waste. This initial success highlights the significant potential of reducing plastic waste and improving community economic welfare. Further recommendations include capacity enhancement, integration with BUMDes, and government policy support. Collaboration with local organizations can expand the impact of the program and establish a more effective waste management system. With the strategic implementation of these measures, Laut Biru Village has the potential to become a model for integrated waste management in other coastal villages.
