Abstract

This research is part of Creative Economy Sub-Sector’s Mapping and Clustering in Kendal Regency. The research aims to describe stakeholder understanding (refers to Kendal Regency Government) towards the creative economy concept using diffusion of innovation theory. The diffusion of innovation is used because Kendal Regency Government is still not familiar with the concept of the creative economy. This qualitative descriptive research used interviews, observation, FGD, and literature study as the method to gather data. Results showed that from 229 SME labeled with the creative economy by Youth, Sports, and Tourism Department, Kendal Regency only 66 of them that met Creative Economy Agency (Badan Ekonomi Kreatif- BEKRAF) criteria. This means that the officials' understanding of the concept of the creative economy is not yet comprehensive. The creative economy is essential to shape the image of the regency (city branding). On the other hand, Kendal Regency had a program to improve the image of the city as a form of smart branding. Smart Branding was a derivation of the Smart City Kendal master plan in 2018-2028. The lack of relevant data in the Kendal District Government showed that the desire to improve the image of the city had not been worked out effectively.

Abstract

The characteristics of Pangkalpinang City as an archipelagic area have undergone a spatial transformation. Historically, the Pangkalpinang City area has been a mining area since 1973, and is currently developing into the capital city of Bangka Belitung province. developed into the service sector, industry, and trade. This study aims to analyze the spatial transformation of Pangkalpinang City due to urban sprawl and the pattern of changes that occur. The methodology used in this study is a mix method consisting of several methods such as the city's economic development sector using Dynamic Location Queationt, socio-spatial analysis, and leapfrog analysis. This study found that several sub-districts in the Pangkalpinang City area experienced a leapfrog type of spatial development, which was characterized by the orientation of the development of residential and industrial areas. The land in Pangkalpinang City is not productive agricultural land, but dry land plantation areas, so that the development of urban physical expansion does not eliminate the essential benefits of agricultural land for food productivity. Meanwhile, under the ex-mines, currently it has been used for the development of the fishery sector and the use of renewable energy development. Another finding is that the limited space of Pangkalpinang City to support the growing development will result in the orientation of land use towards the surrounding suburbs

Abstract

The 2024 Modern Cooperative Assistance program at Koperasi Konsumen Usaha Mandiri was implemented over a four-month period with a focus on enhancing business management. The primary objective of this program was to guide cooperative administrators and members in optimizing internal resources and capabilities while enhancing the effective utilization of natural resources. This assistance program not only provided technical expertise but also fostered an ecosystem conducive to both institutional and individual growth within the cooperative. A quantitative approach was employed to assess the program’s effectiveness through survey questionnaires administered to cooperatives that received assistance. This assessment aimed to identify changes in governance, capital access, digital technology adoption, and business innovation. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods to examine trends and patterns observed before and after the implementation of the assistance program. The assessment results indicated a substantial improvement in modern cooperative performance, as reflected in the increase of evaluation scores from 24.53 to 70.08. These findings suggest that the assistance program played a crucial role in transforming cooperatives into more competitive and innovation-driven entities. Therefore, this data-driven assistance strategy can serve as a foundation for future policy development aimed at enhancing cooperatives' adaptability to the evolving dynamics of the digital economy in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Informal economic activities significantly influence the spatial and functional transformation of urban street corridors; however, their quantitative impact has not been examined in depth. This study analyzes the restructuring of street space by informal activities by integrating spatial pattern analysis (linear, spot, and mixed) with two quantitative indicators: the Informal Economic Activity Intensity Index (IIAEI) and the Spatial Occupation Ratio (SOR). Empirical data from three urban corridors in Medan City demonstrate that street space transformation occurs systematically through the interaction between activity intensity and spatial distribution. The findings indicate a non-linear relationship between activity intensity and spatial occupation, with SOR reaching up to 100 percent in several corridor segments. Concentrated activities result in high spatial pressure even at lower intensity levels, whereas dispersed activities lead to lower pressure despite higher activity counts. This interaction yields three distinct corridor typologies: high-pressure corridors, concentration-based hotspots, and transitional corridors. This study introduces a novel quantitative framework that operationalizes the relationship between informal economic activities and street space transformation by integrating IIAEI and SOR, enabling a measurable and comparative assessment of spatial pressure. The integration of IIAEI and SOR enables an objective, comparative assessment of spatial pressure. The results underscore the need to transition from control-oriented policies to integrative, data-driven approaches, thereby positioning urban street space as an adaptive and inclusive socio-economic environment.
