Abstract

This research was motivated by students who experienced difficulties in solving number pattern story problems in grade VIII of SMPN 2 Bukittinggi. This study aims to find out the difficulties of students in solving number pattern story problems in grade VIII students of SMPN 2 Bukittinggi. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research, Sampling in this study uses a purposive sampling technique, namely the determination of research subjects with certain considerations. The sample in this study is 30 students. This research is in the form of an essay test question about number patterns distributed to students who research samples are. The results of this study show that the difficulties experienced by students with each polya indicator are that there are still many students who have difficulty being able to solve story problems, the difficulties that researchers can see include difficulties in understanding the problem 83%, difficulty in compiling a plan 16%, implementing the plan 93% and re-examining the solutions obtained 16%.

Abstract

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of students. This math anxiety can be an obstacle for a person to be able to understand math. This study aims to determine the influence of mathematical anxiety on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi. This type of research is correlational research. The population in this study is all grade VII students totaling 304 students of SMP N 4 Bukittinggi. While the sample in this study is class VII.A. The sampling technique is carried out randomly using cluster random sampling. The instruments used in this study are mathematical anxiety questionnaires and mathematical concept comprehension ability test questions. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. The results of the study can be concluded that there is an influence of mathematical anxiety on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students in grade VII of SMP N Bukittinggi. This can be seen from the linear regression equation, which is Y = 30.014 - 0.209X from the result, mathematical anxiety has a negative effect on the ability to understand mathematical concepts

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Student Activity Oriented Learning (PBAS) strategy on mathematics learning outcomes. This pre-experimental study used a research design. Static Group Analysis using Isolated Randomised Control Group Architecture. The demographics of this study consisted of VIII grade students of SMP N 4 Kinali. The sampling technique used was random sampling. In this research sample, Class VIII.3 represented the experimental group, while Class VIII.1 as the control group. The calculation results show that t_(count) is smaller than ttable. This means that the Ho test decision is rejected with a significance level of α = 0.05. At a significance level of α = 0.05, the P value is determined to be 0.001 through Minitab, indicating that the P value is below α. Ho's agreement was rejected, while H1 was granted. The results showed that the application of Student Activity Oriented Learning (PBAS) strategies significantly improved the academic achievement of students in class VIII of SMP N 4 Kinali in the 2023/2024 school year
