Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the thinking of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the formation of insan kamil (perfect human being) through an integrative and contemporary approach. The concept of insan kamil has long been a central aspiration in Islamic educational thought, yet its implementation in modern educational practice remains fragmented and lacks systematic philosophical grounding. Using a qualitative approach with library research methods, this study analyzes the thoughts of three prominent figures al-Ghazali, Muhammad Iqbal, and Hasan Langgulung to examine how each conceptualized the ideal human being and the role of education in realizing it. The findings indicate that al-Ghazali emphasizes the purification of the soul (tazkiyat al-nafs) as the primary foundation of human perfection; Iqbal stresses the development of the self (khudi) through creativity and dynamic engagement with modernity; while Langgulung integrates a psychological and sociological perspective within Islamic education. Synthesizing these three perspectives, this study proposes a reconstructed model of PAI that is rooted in spiritual values, oriented toward the development of individual potential, and responsive to contemporary social challenges. The implication of this reconstruction is that Islamic Religious Education must be reoriented not merely as doctrinal transmission, but as a transformative process that shapes the whole human being intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Abstract

This study examines the reorientation and reconstruction of Islamic Religious Education (IRE/PAI) thought in the era of technological disruption, with a research locus at SDN 053 Cisitu, Bandung City. The disruption era has brought fundamental changes to the educational landscape, demanding a paradigmatic transformation in the approaches, methods, and learning media of PAI, which has long been dominated by conventional lecture-based methods. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach following Lexy J. Moleong. Data were collected through document analysis of Grade VI PAI lesson plans (RPP), classroom observations, and in-depth interviews with teachers and students. Data analysis techniques encompassed data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The findings reveal that the reorientation of PAI at SDN 053 Cisitu is characterized by the reinforcement of digital literacy, the application of Problem Based Learning (PBL), interactive discussions, and the integration of moral values including humility, discipline, and responsibility. The reconstruction of PAI thought is manifested through a shift from traditional lecture methods to the use of interactive multimedia such as PowerPoint, YouTube videos, Google Meet, and WhatsApp Group, as well as the contextualization of subject matter through empirical examples such as natural disasters as illustrations of the minor apocalypse (kiamat sugra) and faith reinforcement through case-based reflection. The study concludes that the adaptive reconstruction and reorientation of PAI in the disruption era can enhance the relevance, meaningfulness, and effectiveness of PAI learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The digital era has brought significant changes to adolescents’ lives, particularly in patterns of interaction, behavior, and moral development. Easy access to information and the intensive use of digital media offer opportunities while simultaneously posing serious challenges to adolescents’ moral education. This article aims to examine the implementation of Islamic educational philosophy in adolescents’ moral education within school and family environments in the digital era. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by analyzing relevant literature on Islamic educational philosophy, moral education, and education in the digital era. The findings indicate that the core values of Islamic educational philosophy—such as tawhid, the balance between reason and revelation, the integration of faith and knowledge, and the orientation toward the formation of insan kamil—remain highly relevant in fostering adolescents’ moral character. The implementation of these values can be realized through the role modeling of teachers and parents, the internalization of moral values in the learning process, the habituation of positive behavior, and the strengthening of digital literacy based on Islamic ethics. Therefore, synergy between schools and families grounded in Islamic educational philosophy constitutes a strategic key to shaping adolescents with strong character and ethical awareness in the digital era.
