Abstract

The performance enhancement of centrifugal pumps is continuously pursued to meet increasingly complex operational demands. Ongoing improvements in pump component design, particularly the impeller, are essential to achieving optimal configurations. The impeller is a critical component that significantly influences the overall performance of centrifugal pumps. This study aims to develop an impeller design that offers higher performance compared to the original one. The methodology utilized was Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The primary focus was on modifying the semi-open impeller type. Two modified impellers were developed with concave and convex design. They were simulated and compared to the original impeller configuration. The simulation results indicate that pressure distribution at the inlet remains similar for all designs. However, pressure variations at the outlet and differences in volumetric flow rate between inlet and outlet were found. The contour visualization of pressure and flow velocity for each impeller configuration shown from the CFD simulation results is further discussed, in terms of pressure distribution and flow trajectory pressure.

Abstract

Revitalisasi wisata Danau Maninjau perlu didukung agar dapat kembali menjadi destinasi wisatawan. Salah satu destinasi wisata yang dikembangkan oleh Pemerintahan Kabupaten Agam di Kawasan Danau Maninjau adalah Linggai Park. Oleh karena itu perlu sekali didukung dengan adanya kesadaran dan kepedulian dari masyarakat untuk dapat mengembangkan potensi wisata ini. Berdasarkan hasil obseravasi dan wawancara dengan beberapa orang wisatawan yang berkunjung ke  Linggai park, perlu adanya wahana yang dapat menarik minat wisatawan untuk berkunjung. Berdasarkan hal tim Desa Wisata Edukatif dari Universitas Negeri Padang melaksakan kegiatan pengabdian yang dapat mengembangkan parawisata Linggai Park. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan dengan memberikan edukasi dan pelatihan pembuatan perahu wisata dari fiberglass. Kegiatan edukasi sadar dan peduli wisata diberikan kepada siswa SMP Negeri 2 Tanjung Raya. Kesadaran dan kepedulian dari generasi muda sangatlah penting, karena mereka dapat menjadi influencer dalam promosi wisata Linggai park. Kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan perahu wisata dari bahan fiberglass diberikan kepada pemuda Nagari Duo Koto. Perahu wisata dari bahan fiberglass dari hasil pelatihan dihibahkan kepada Nagari Duo Koto. Harapanya setelah pelatihan ini masyarakat dapat membuat perahu wisata secara mandiri.

Abstract

Stability is an important aspect that was studied in ship design as it relates to the safety of the ship when facing ocean waves. The tourist ship needed to have a good image in order to attract tourists to use its services. Good stability of the tourist ship was crucial in enhancing the image of the ship and attracting tourists to utilize its services. This research aimed to investigate the effect of concave on the U hull to improve ship stability. The study compared the stability test results of two hull designs: U hull with concave and without concave. The stability tests of both ship models were conducted through simulation methods. The simulations were performed under two conditions: when the tourist ship was empty and when it was fully loaded with passengers. The simulation results indicated that the design of the U hull with concave had a positive influence on ship stability, leading to improved stability. The concave design enhanced the ship's ability to return to its original position when encountering waves. Even in the presence of small waves, the tourist ship did not experience instability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk pembuatan papan komposit yang diperkuat oleh tiga serat alam menggunakan metoda compression molding. Penggunaan material komposit pada saat ini semakin berkembang mulai dari hal-hal yang sederhana seperti alat-alat rumah tangga hingga ke sektor industri yang lebih luas. Komposit merupakan kombinasi dari dua material atau lebih yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan kekuatan dan ketahanan bahan yang lebih baik dari bahan yang lain. Komposisi dari pembuatan komposit terdiri dari matriks dan bahan penguat, dimana matriks yang digunakan yaitu resin dan katalis, sedangkan bahan penguat yang digunakan dalam komposit tebuat dari serat alam. Penggunaan serat alam mempunyai arti penting dalam pengolahan limbah hasil perkebunan yang ada Indonesia yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Dalam pembuatan komposit terdapat berbagai metoda yang sering digunakan seperti comprerssion molding. Komposit yang diperkuat oleh perpaduan serat rami, serat nanas dan sekam padi dengan fraksi volume 60% : 40%. Untuk melihat kekuatan dari papan komposit dilakukan pengujian bending dan juga pengujian impak memiliki tegangan bending rata-rata 15,789 N/mm2, modulus elastisitas rata-rata 22.727,66 N/mm2, Dan tegangan bending tertinggi di dapatkan pada 17.354 N/mm2, yang mana hasil ini lebih rendah dari hasil pengujian bending yang dilakukan oleh penelitian yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya. Sedangkan untuk rata-rata harga impak yang didapatkan pada pengujian yaitu sebesar 0,00358 J/mm2, dan untuk harga impak tertinggi didapatkan pada nilai 0,00417 N/mm2, yang mana rata-rata harga impak yang didapatkan hampir sama yaitu selisih 0,00001 J/mm2.

Abstract

This research was based on the demands of the 21st century in which teachers should have 4 skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication). Teachers are required to change the way of teaching that initially (teacher-centered) turns into (student-centered) and able to participate to follow the development of technology. Therefore, E-book learning is needed that can present material pedagogy integrated with kolb learning and 4C's. This research aims to produce the final product in the form of valid e-book media learning, practical and effective in pedagogy subject. This was a research and development (Research and Development) research. This development research used ADDIE development model consisting of 5 stages which were Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). Based on the results, e-book validation testing conducted by three validators, it obtained Aiken's score 0.9 with a valid category. The test results practicalities of the teachers and the students were 86% in the practical category. The effectiveness test results was 89.65%. Thus, it can be concluded that this research has produced a pedagogical e-book which is valid, practical and effective.

Abstract

Based on research conducted by PISA, the ability to solve problems and think critically of Indonesian students is still below the average score set by PISA. Problem based learning is one of the learning models recommended by the Ministry of Education and Culture to be applied in improving these abilities. However, the lack of problem-based learning that has been applied so far is the lack of use of media that can be used as support in learning activities, resulting in inconsistencies in the impact of problem-based learning in improving student skills. The importance of these skills for students to have in this era of the industrial revolution 4.0, makes educators have to be more creative and innovative in implementing learning. Therefore, this study aims at seeing efforts to improve problem solving skills and critical thinking skills through problem based integrated computer assisted instruction (CAI). This study used a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. The population in this study were undergraduate students of Mechanical Engineering Education, Padang State University. The instrument used in this research is a questionnaire which is used to see students' problem solving and critical thinking skills. The data analysis technique in this study is in accordance with the research hypothesis, where research hypotheses 1 and 2 use independent sample t-test and research hypothesis 3 uses MANCOVA. The research covered by his study is in line with higher education's continuing search for effective SCL approaches
