Workshop of Test of English Proficiency on Lecturers of Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH Bengkulu This community service was aimed to improve the ability of the test of English proficiency (TOEP) the lecturers of Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH University by practicing listening and reading skills. In addition, this activity was provided participants with insight into easy ways or tips and tricks when dealing with listening and reading questions in the TOEP with the aimed of increasing the participant's TOEP score. The method used was a lecture, discussion/question and answer, and practice. Participants who were the target of this training were lecturers who had not yet passed the lecturer certification. Pre-test at the beginning of the activity and post-test at the end of the activity carried out as an instrument for evaluating community service activities. The results of these community service activities indicated that there were differences in the ability scores of the trainees before and after the training. The pre-test results showed that the maximum score for TOEP was 405, the average score was 266.5 and the minimum score was 205. While the post-test results showed that the maximum score for participants' TOEP was 465, the average score was 393.5 and the minimum score was 360. Increasing the participant's TOEP score showed that the training activity was successful.

ABSTRACT In the learning process of teachers still have a very important role in transferring knowledge to their students. In addition, success in teaching is greatly influenced by student learning activities. A teacher must have the ability to empathize, be a unique listener, and can be a facilitator for students in solving their problems by themselves.This research was a descriptive qualitative. The purpose of this research is to increase students’ vocabulary mastery by using crossword puzzle method. The subject of this research were 10 students. It consists of fourth (4) Males and six (6) Females. The instrument of this study a vocabulary test are interview and questionnaire. Based on the results of the interviewfirst, only 60% of students who do not like English because it is considered difficult and 40% like English because it is considered easy. Second, half of or 50% of students memorize a lot of vocabulary and half or 50% don't memorize a lot of vocabulary. Third, all students or 100% of students state that teachers who teach in class are boring and monotonous. The fourth is that all students or 100% know about crosswords. Based on the results of the questionnaire the highest percentage or 100% who answered "Yes" is in the second statement "crossword puzzle method is very excited. While the lowest percentage or 30% who answered" Yes "is the seventh statement" I was very excited by learning English vocabulary ". Furthermore, the highest percentage or 70% for those who answered" No "was the statement to the full" I was very excited by learning English vocabulary ". And the last lowest percentage or 20% who answered"

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui kegiatan KUKERTA-PPM yang berjudul Bakery sebagai penguatan ekonomi, ketahanan pangan masyarakat melalui diversifikasi produk remunggai di Kelurahan Lingkar Timur. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan menghasilkan dan meningkatkan penghasilan dan memanfaatkan tanaman remunggai menjadi bahan pangan dan produk olahan remunggai dengan cara membantu mengembangkan dan memajukan usaha kecil menengah yang terdapat di kelurahan Lingkar Timur khususnya toko cake and bakery remunggai. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini terdiri atas 3 tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan refleksi. Prosedur kegiatan ini membantu produksi pembuatan pizza remunggai, mendesain kemasan produk dan mencetaknya, membantu pemasaran dan mendesain merek dagang serta mendaftarkannya ke HKI. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah toko cake and bakery mempunyai kemasan yang lebih indah, menarik serta mempunyai logo, kemudian pemasaran sudah dilakukan secara online dan offline serta telah terdaftarnya mrek dagang tersebut pada hak kekayaan intelektual (HKI). Dengan adanya kegiatan KUKERTA-PPM berdampak besar bagi masyarakat kelurahan Lingkar Timur, masyaratkat menjadi tahu manfaat yang terkandung dari daun remungga dan masyarakat dapat memproduksi berbagai macam bakery berbahan dasar remunggai sehingga dapat menambah pendapatan. Sedangkan bagi toko cake and bakery kegiatan ini berdampak dengan terciptanya logo sebagai jati diri dari produk toko cake and bakery remunggai serta terdaftarnya merek dagang pada HKI.

In the current era of globalization which is full of challenges and competition, not only high level of education, but everyone is required to have special skills. One of the skill that medical record students must possess is English. This of course makes many students find it difficult to meet the standard of TOEFL score because lack of understanding in English by some students. Through TOEFL training, participants will get listening, writing, and reading tests. The method used in this community service is a descriptive method through a qualitative approach. This method was chosen because it presents data systematically and accurately regarding the facts in the field. Based on the data, it shows that more than 50%, namely 87.5% (21 students) have a TOEFL score above the criteria, which is 425 indicating that there is an increase in the TOEFL score after the training.

This socialization aims to provide provision for English students who will take part in the second internship program at school. The socialization and debriefing will be held on Monday 17 October 2022 in the C4 learning building at 08.00-14.00 WIB. The participants for apprentice II were all semester V students. Implementation of socialization and debriefing of apprentice II program for English students at Prof. Dr. Hazairin SH through the lecture method. Internship Program IIaims to strengthen educational academic competence and linkageswith academic competence in the field of study as well as determining the initial abilities of prospective teachers in developing learning tools through: reviewing the curriculum and learning tools used by teachers, reviewing learning strategies, reviewing evaluation systems, compiling and developing Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), developing learning media, developing teaching materials in accordance with the lesson plans; and development of evaluation tools in accordance with the objectives. Implementation of socialization and debriefing of apprentice program II for English students at the University of Prof. Dr. Hazairin SH makes students able to design learning tools, namely studying the curriculum, designing syllabus, and designing learning plans as well as being able to know the school environment carefully.

Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang sudah dilakukan adalah program Pelatihan bahasa Inggris bagi siswa/siswi SMA di Bengkulu. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan membantu siswa/siswa SMA di Bengkulu menguasai bahasa Inggris dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis situasi, pemahaman dan penguasaan bahasa Inggris tingkat SMA di Bengkulu masih rendah. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan upaya untuk menumbuhkan dan meningkatkan kesadaran mereka untuk belajar bahasa inggris di luar jam pelajaran sekolah. dengan upaya ini diharapkan siswa mampu meningkatkan kemampuan dan minat mereka dalam bahasa inggris. Pelatihan belajar bahasa Inggris ini menyangkut penguasaan keempat keterampilan bahasa Inggris yaitu: mendengarkan (listening), membaca (reading), berbicara (speaking), dan tata bahasa (structure). Pelatihan bahasa inggris yang dilakukan sudah berhasil dengan baik. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari antusiasme siswa/siswi SMA untuk mengikuti program pengabdian ini. Kehadiran mereka mencapai 100%. Dan dari hasil evaluasi belajar nampak bahwa mereka sudah menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka pada keempat skill yaitu listening, reading, speaking structure. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri atas 4 tahapan yaitu pengenalan, persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Prosedur kegiatan ini adalah pembukaan, melakukan pre-test,pemberian materi listening, pemberian materi reading, pemberian materi speaking, pemberian materi structure serta melakukan post-test. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah siswa/siswi SMA di Bengkulu meynadari akan pentingnya mempelajari bahasa inggris untuk bersaing di era globalisasi ini serta meningkatnya kemampuan bahasa inggris siswa/siswa SMA di Bengkulu.

The study explores local value/wisdom and the cultural views of Bengkulu people, which is dealing with the teaching materials for reading skill. This study aims to develop reading materials in the basis of on local value that are effective, valid, and practical for English major students. This is a research and development (RnD) using ADDIE model applied to the Students of the English Language Study Program Semester IV, Universitas Prof. Dr. Hazairin, SH Bengkulu. The results of the study show that the teaching materials for reading skill based on the local wisdom has been developed is valid, practical and effective. It is based on the expert’s and validator’s evaluation and proved that the learning outcomes reaching 92.5% of all learning outcomes are valid and feasible. The practicability of the product showed based on the students’ responses which is gained the achievement of student activities reached ≥ 75% of the 5 observed activity indicators, while the average response of all students reached 80%. It indicates that students responded positively reaching ≥ 75%.

Pandemic covid-19 membuat tatanan ekonomi dunia menjadi berubah dan membuat perekonomian masyarakat menjadi sulit dan berubah. Dalam menghadapi perubahan ekonomi ini membuat masyarakat harus memiliki suatu kreativitas yang dapat meningkatkan ekonomi dengan mengelolah suatu produk baru yang masih jarang yaitu berupa olahan masker remunggai menjadi masker wajah. Pengelolaan masker remunggai di kelolah di Kelurahan Sukarami Kota Bengkulu. Dengan memberikan mengintergrasikan ilmu pengetahuan yang dimiliki dengan (1) memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan berwirausaha kepada masyarakat dikelurahan sukarami (2) memberikan keterampilan dalam berwirausaha dengan menerapkan sistem wirausaha secara online (3) Pelatihan dasar dalam membuat produk olahan masker wajah berbahan dasar daun remunggai. Olahan produk yang dihasilkan adalah masker wajah yang memiliki merek dagang MANGGAI dan dilakukan penjualan secara online dengan menggunakan Instagram, web dan bukalapak.

Kompetensi Bahasa Inggris berperan penting dalam pengembangan desa wisata. Dengan memiliki kompetensi bahasa inggris ini memudahkan komunikasi antara pelaku pariwisata dan wisatawan yang mengunjungi suatu tempat, memberikan penjelasan tentang tempat tersebut kepada penutur berbahasa Inggris, dan mempromosikan tempat tersebut di seluruh dunia. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan judul Pendampingan Bahasa Inggris di Desa Penembang Menuju Desa Wisata ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan bahasa inggris kepada masyarakat desa Penembang sebagai desa wisata agar masyarakat desa Penembang dapat memperkenalkan keindahan alam dan kekhasan desa Penembang kepada wisatawan sehingga banyak wisatawan berkunjung ke desa Penembang. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan pendampingan ini terdiri atas 4 tahapan yaitu pengenalan, persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah perubahan sikap dan tingkah laku masyarakat terhadap bahasa inggris, dari yang tidak percaya diri, tidak aktif, tidak antusias, dan cuek menjadi yang lebih percaya diri, aktif, antusias, dan peduli dengan bahasa inggris untuk sebagai bekal masyarakat dalam menjadikan desa Penembang sebagai desa wisata.

This study aims to determine the difference between using role-play and debate methods on students' speaking skills in English subject. This study is quantitative research with a comparative study method. The sample of this study was the students of XI IIS3 and XI MIA1 at one of the top-favourite private schools in one of the developed regencies in West Borneo. The researchers applied a performance test to collect the data while the T-test was used to analyze the data. The result revealed there was a significant difference between using role-play and debate toward the students' speaking skills. It can be seen from the significant difference in the comparison of their average values. In the role-play method, the average value is 62.11 while in the debate is 51.82. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the role-play method is better than the debate method in an EFL setting. However, this study realizes that it happens because the role-play method offers a flexible chance for the students to ask for help during the preparation of the speech production.
