Abstract

This study aims to analyze the managerial competence of school principals—comprising technical, human, and conceptual skills—in enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence for the implementation of the Eight Dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) at SMAN 1 and SMAN 2 Mutiara, Pidie Regency. Employing a qualitative field research design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with source and technique triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that technical competence is manifested through collaborative lesson planning and reflective evaluation, while human competence is reflected in democratic leadership and dialogical communication that fosters a supportive school climate. Furthermore, conceptual competence allows principals to formulate contextual visions and adaptive policies aligned with student characteristics. The discussion highlights that the integration of these three competencies empowers teachers to become more professional, reflective, and creative, particularly in executing project-based learning. Ultimately, the study concludes that a principal’s ability to synthesize these managerial skills is fundamental for the effective and sustainable implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile, ensuring that teachers are adequately equipped to navigate modern educational frameworks and improve student outcomes holistically.

Abstract

Improving educational quality during the Merdeka Curriculum era necessitates strategic, data-driven resource management to address policy shifts and student needs. This study aims to analyze school strategic management in enhancing educational quality through Data-Based Planning (DBP) at SMA Negeri 3 Unggul Sigli, Aceh. Employing a qualitative descriptive case study design, data were gathered via in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and stakeholders. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that strategic management is systematically executed through environmental scanning, formulation, implementation, and evaluation all integrated with Education Report Card (ERC) data. Environmental analysis identified strengths in teacher professionalism and academic culture, while formulation is conducted participatively through the Identification, Reflection, and Improvement (IRB) cycle. Strategy implementation focuses on numeracy-literacy programs, differentiated instruction, and the Profil Pelajar Pancasila project. Evaluation and control are performed continuously through routine monitoring and academic audits. The integration of DBP has significantly improved planning accuracy and instructional effectiveness, evidenced by an upward trend in the school’s ERC outcomes. This research concludes that DBP is not merely a technical tool but a strategic managerial practice that drives sustainable quality transformation. This study provides a novel framework for school leaders to transition from intuitive to evidence-based management within the Merdeka Curriculum ecosystem. For long-term impact, schools must consistently optimize data-driven governance to ensure academic resilience and institutional excellence.

Abstract

This study investigates how undergraduate EFL writers construct thesis Discussion sections through a comparative genre analysis of theses produced at two public universities in Aceh, Indonesia. Drawing on a qualitative genre-based discourse analysis, the study examines 14 undergraduate theses—seven from each institution—using a move–step framework adapted from Yang and Allison (2003), with frequency criteria proposed by Kanoksilapatham (2005). The analysis focuses on the realization, distribution, and sequencing of rhetorical moves in the Discussion sections. The findings reveal that none of the Discussion sections fully realized the complete move structure proposed in the framework. Instead, undergraduate writers relied on partial and selective use of genre conventions. Reporting results emerged as the only obligatory move across both universities, while commenting on results—particularly through comparison with previous studies—was frequently employed. In contrast, higher-order rhetorical moves related to evaluation, synthesis, and deduction were underrepresented. Although both institutions shared similar overall patterns, notable differences were observed in the extent to which writers engaged in interpretive and evaluative strategies. The study contributes to genre-based ESP research by extending Discussion section analysis to an underexplored undergraduate EFL corpus and by highlighting the influence of institutional context on genre construction. Pedagogically, the findings underscore the need for explicit genre-based instruction to support undergraduate students in developing rhetorically effective Discussion sections.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic management strategies utilized by primary schools in flood-prone regions in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Indonesia. The study seeks to investigate how educational leaders devise, execute, and assess management measures to maintain learning continuity during persistent flooding events. A qualitative case study methodology was utilized to gather data via in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis at two public elementary schools located in the Bendahara and Banda Mulia Districts. Data were examined with NVivo 12 software to discern prevailing themes and managerial trends. The results indicate that school resilience is cultivated through three interconnected strategic elements: proactive planning, adaptive implementation, and reflective evaluation. Proactive planning emphasizes risk identification, the incorporation of flood mitigation strategies into educational policies, and preparedness training for educators and students. Adaptive implementation prioritizes flexible learning structures, community collaboration, and the use of local resources during floods. Reflective evaluation encompasses participatory dialogues, peer assessments, and continuous enhancement to bolster institutional preparedness. The study indicates that efficient disaster-responsive school management necessitates visionary leadership, collaborative planning, and robust community engagement. The findings enhance the theoretical discussion on resilient educational management by illustrating how context-specific techniques might support teaching and learning in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of an Islamic value-based school culture on the improvement of teacher performance in elementary schools within Aceh Tamiang Regency, Indonesia. Although Islamic ideals have been incorporated into school traditions for an extended period, their assimilation into teachers' professional practices remains variable. This qualitative case study examines two public elementary schools—SD Negeri Alur Sentang and SD Negeri Paya Rahat—through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis. Utilizing Schein’s organizational culture theory and Bernardin & Russell’s performance model, the study investigates the expression of cultural artifacts, embraced values, and foundational assumptions that influence teacher conduct and work ethics. The findings indicate that Islamic cultural practices, including daily prayers, tadarus, and moral reminders, are evident yet not fully integrated into teachers' professional activity. The cultural dynamics are shaped by three main things: (1) artifacts that represent religious identity, (2) values that are important to people, such as discipline, amanah, and responsibility, and (3) beliefs that work is religion. All of these things together affect how well teachers do their jobs in terms of discipline, relationships with others, and devotion. Nonetheless, deficiencies persist in leadership modeling, implementation consistency, and community support. The study finds that to make Islamic value-based school culture stronger, we need strategic leadership, meaningful habituation, and working together. Suggestions are given to schools and policymakers to help teachers become more professional and culturally aware in a more complete way

Abstract

In a period of increased educational rivalry and accountability, schools need to employ management strategies that ensure continual quality improvement. Total Quality Management (TQM) has emerged as a strategic paradigm for improving educational services using systematic, data-driven, and participative methods. This study looks into the managerial skills of school principals in implementing TQM at public elementary schools in Meurah Mulia Subdistrict, Aceh Utara, Indonesia. Data were acquired using a qualitative study design, including in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis with administrators, teachers, and parents. The findings show that principals' managerial competence—conceptual, human relations, and technical skills—plays an important role in implementing TQM concepts in daily school activities. Among these categories, technological abilities, particularly those related to educational technology and data systems, stand out the most. However, the analysis also highlights problems in collaborative culture and shared responsibility for quality improvement. This study contributes to the developing discussion on educational leadership by emphasizing that effective TQM implementation in schools is dependent additionally on policy adoption, but also on the principal's capacity to integrate managerial expertise into a sustainable culture of quality. The report proposes that school leaders receive systematic professional development to improve their interpersonal communications skills and encourage deeper stakeholder participation.

Abstract

Cyberbullying has become a critical challenge in the digital era, threatening adolescents’ mental health and emotional development. This study aims to examine how cyberbullying prevention is implemented in Islamic boarding schools through local wisdom–based management and value internalization. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were collected from boarding school leaders, teachers, caregivers, and students through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using NVivo-assisted thematic coding. The findings reveal that cyberbullying prevention is institutionally structured through four management functions: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling, with actuating emerging as the most dominant function (51% of coded references). Prevention practices are operationalized through daily habituation, integration of digital ethics into religious instruction, and moral-spiritual supervision. Additionally, Acehnese local wisdom values such as Meuseuraya, Tameusaboh, Seumapa, Peumulia Jamee, and Adat Bak Poe Teumeureuhom are embedded as behavioral regulators in both offline and online interactions. This study contributes a culturally grounded cyberbullying prevention model that integrates educational management, local wisdom, and Islamic values. The findings suggest that sustainable digital ethics education should prioritize moral internalization and community-based supervision.
