Abstract

Biodiversity literacy encompasses students' understanding of biodiversity concepts, its utilization, and conservation efforts. This study aims to determine the effect of the ethnoscience-based discovery learning model on biodiversity literacy and students' scientific explanation skills in the classification of living organisms in Grade X at SMA Negeri 3 Tasikmalaya for the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Tasikmalaya during the 2024/2025 academic year, with the population consisting of 432 students from twelve classes in grade X. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in class X.E-1 as the experimental group and class X.E-2 as the control group. Data collection techniques included a biodiversity literacy test consisting of 33 multiple-choice questions. The result showed that the average score for biodiversity literacy in the experimental class was 75.85 (SD = 12.89), while in the control class, it was 65.15 (SD = 15.74). The ANCOVA analysis yielded a significance value of 0.006 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect. Therefore, the result concludes that the Sundanese ethnoscience-based discovery learning model significantly influences biodiversity literacy in the classification of living organisms among Grade X students at SMA Negeri 3 Tasikmalaya.      Keywords: biodiversity literacy, discovery learning, ethnoscience, biology.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) offers great potential to enhance the quality of education, particularly in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ competencies in utilizing AI, specifically ChatGPT and GEMINI, to develop innovative learning tools. The training and mentoring activities were conducted at SMPN 1 Singaparna, Tasikmalaya Regency, involving 26 science teachers. Evaluation was carried out through pretests and posttests to measure participants’ knowledge improvement, workshops to produce learning products, and monitoring of classroom implementation. Pretest results showed that 65% of participants had a low understanding of AI concepts and the Merdeka Curriculum. After the training, 85% demonstrated good understanding. The workshop produced 10 AI-based learning tools that were assessed as innovative, relevant, and creative. Monitoring indicated that 75% of participants successfully integrated these tools into their classroom practices. This success was influenced by hands-on training, continuous mentoring, and teacher collaboration. However, some participants still faced challenges in adapting the tools to individual student needs. The program demonstrates that collaborative practice-based training and mentoring effectively enhance teacher competencies and foster the creation of technology-based learning innovations aligned with the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) affects approximately 9–12% of the global population at any given time. Most cases are nonspecific, occurring without a clear anatomical cause, and are typically managed with conservative approaches such as physiotherapy and light activity. This case involved a woman with LBP due to lumbar spondyloarthrosis and herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP) accompanied by hypertension. Her history of elevated blood pressure and frequent heavy lifting were recognized as significant risk factors, potentially affecting organ perfusion. The management provided in this case was appropriate and comprehensive, combining pharmacotherapy, physiotherapy as supportive therapy to enhance functional recovery, and comorbidity management. This integrated approach demonstrated effective clinical outcomes in addressing both the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular aspects of the patient’s condition.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi spesies dan mengukur tingkat keanekaragaman insekta yang terdapat di kawasan Gunung Galunggung Tasikmalaya. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus 2019 dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis deskriptif. Pengumpulan insekta dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pitfall trap yang ditempatkan pada tiga lokasi dengan ketinggian yang berbeda.  Insekta yang terjebak kemudian diidentifikasi nama spesiesnya dan dihitung jumlahnya. Setelah itu dilakukan perhitungan untuk analisis indeks keanekaragaman dan indeks dominansi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa insekta yang terperangkap dalam pitfall trap terdapat 5 bangsa yang terdiri dari 8 Suku dengan jumlah spesies sebanyak 12 dan total jumlah individu 142. Spesies dan jumlah individu terbanyak yang ditemukan yaitu suku Formicidae. Tiap lokasi penelitian mendapatkan indeks keanekaragaman yang berbeda, yaitu 2,26 (pada lokasi I), 1,63 (pada lokasi II), dan 1,82 (pada lokasi III). Indeks dominansi masing-masing lokasi, yaitu 0,12 (lokasi I), 0,30 (lokasi II), dan 0,21 (lokasi III). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Indeks keanekaragaman setiap lokasi penyimpanan perangkap termasuk kategori sedang dengan indeks dominansi termasuk kategori rendah. Hal tersebut menandakan kondisi ekositem gunung Galunggung masih tergolong baik dan belum mencapai ekosistem klimaks.

Abstract

Plant awareness disparity poses a persistent challenge in biology education, limiting recognition, appreciation, and engagement with plants among preservice biology teachers (PSTs). This study investigated the influence of sociodemographic factors on PSTs’ plant awareness gains and evaluated the effectiveness of a digital plant project in addressing these disparities. A total of 134 PSTs participated in a project-based intervention involving observation, documentation, and analysis of local plants using digital tools. Plant awareness was measured through the validated Plant Awareness Disparity (PAD) Questionnaire, which covers four indicators: attention, attitude, knowledge, and relative interest. Sociodemographic data, including gender, age, residence, family income, family experience with plants, and plant-based cultural practices, were analyzed using t-tests and one-way ANOVA. The results showed significant improvements across all indicators of plant awareness after the intervention. Gender, residence, family income, family experience, and cultural practices significantly affected awareness gains, while age did not. Female students, urban residents, and participants from higher-income or plant-engaged families achieved higher gains. The digital plant project fostered active, experiential, and technology-supported learning, enabling equitable participation and engagement with botanical content. Overall, the findings highlight the potential of integrating digital and project-based approaches in biology education to enhance both conceptual understanding and affective appreciation of plants, while supporting inclusive curricula that address disparities in plant awareness.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 mengakibatkan sistem pendidikan harus beradaptasi dengan kondisi pandemi tersebut. Pembelajaran yang sebelumnya tatap muka diubah menjadi pembelajaran secara daring. Pembelajaran daring bisa dilaksanakan melalui berbagai platform seperti Zoom, Googleclassroom, WhatsApp, Googleform, dan sebagainya. Perubahan dari pembelajaran tatap muka menjadi pembelajaran daring ini terjadi secara tiba-tiba akibat pandemi Covid-19. Oleh sebab itu perlu adanya kesiapan dari mahasiswa untuk mengikuti pembelajaran secara daring, khususnya pembelajaran fisika. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendapatkan informasi kesiapan mahasiswa calon guru mengikuti pembelajaran fisika secara daring saat pandemi Covid-19. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa prodi pendidikan kimia FKIP UMRAH yang mengambil mata kuliah Fisika Umum. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara penyebaran kuisioner melalui googleform. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa telah siap melaksanakan pembelajaran fisika secara daring saat pandemi Covid-19 ini. Hal ini ditinjau dari kesiapan lokasi pembelajaran daring, motivasi, sumber belajar, infrastruktur, literasi teknologi, kualitas interaksi akademik secara online, manfaat, faktor pendukung pembelajaran daring.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dialami siswa yaitu kesulitan mengenal ide pokok paragraf, mengenal detail yang penting, mengembangkan imajinasi visual, meramalkan hasil, mengikuti petunjuk, mengenal organisasi karangan dan membaca kritis. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Selanjutnya teknik analisis datanya menggunakan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut, diantaranya data collection (pengumpulan data), data reduction (reduksi data), data display (display data), conclusion drawing/verification (verifikasi dan kesimpulan data). Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwa : 1) kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas V SDN Alur Sali tergolong rendah, dikarenakan siswa mengalami kesulitan mengenal ide pokok paragraf dan siswa masih keliru menentukan dimana letak ide pokok paragraf, kesulitan mengenal detail yang penting seperti mengetahui dan menentukan tema pada teks bacaan yang siswa baca, kesulitan mengembangkan imajinasi visual, siswa hanya melihat-lihat bacaan tersebut karena ada yang kurang lancar membaca, kesulitan meramalkan hasil, kesulitan ini seperti tidak memahami bahasa dalam bacaan, kesulitan mengikuti pentunjuk, kesulitan mengetahui apa saja kerangka teks deskripsi, kesulitan membaca kritis. 2) Berdasarkan analisis data di SDN Alur Sali dapat disimpulkan bahwa analisis faktor-faktor penyebab kesulitan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas V yaitu sebagai berikut : faktor yang berasal dari dalam diri siswa dan dari luar diri siswa diantaranya yaitu: (1)  Faktor Internal: a) faktor kondisi tubuh, b) faktor intelegensi, c) faktor motivasi, d) minat, e) kematangan sosial dan emosi serta penyesuaian diri. (2) Faktor Eksternal : a) lingkungan keluarga, b) cara mengajar guru.

Abstract

This study aims to validate the construct of social support for employees in Nagan Raya Regency based on six dimensions of the Social Provisions Scale (SPS), attachment, social integration, reassurance of worth, reliable alliance, guidance, and opportunity for nurturance to help. The approach used is a quantitative descriptive with a cross-sectional design. The determination of the number of samples refers to the number of indicators, which is 5 to 10 times the number of indicators, resulting in 120 respondents selected using a cluster sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) method using AMOS. The results of the analysis show that all dimensions have a standardized regression weight value 0.5, a construct reliability (CR) value 1.96, and a p-value 0.05. The estimated values are: attachment (estimate = 0.796; p = 0.000), social integration (estimate = 0.986; CR = 3.776; p = 0.000), reassurance of worth (estimate = 0.348; CR = 2.919; p = 0.004), reliable alliance (estimate = 0.765; CR = 4.073; p = 0.000), guidance (estimate = 0.584; CR = 3.960; p = 0.000), and opportunity for nurturance (estimate = 0.368; CR = 2.687; p = 0.007). All hypotheses are accepted. This finding confirms that the six dimensions are valid components in the construct of social support in the work environment of Nagan Raya Regency employees.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether customer income increased aftes working Capital Financing assistance at Bankaltimtara Syariah Tanjung Redeb. The analytical tool used is the standard deviation and the different t test. Based on the analysis, it can be stated that the average customer income before receiving working Capital Financing is IDR 2.372.000,- and the average income calculated after receiving working Capital Financing is IDR 5.577.000,-. The standard deviation of customer income before receiving working Capital Financing is IDR 3.224.000,-. While the standar deviation value after receiving working Capital Financing is IDR 4.970.000,-. The value of arithmetic (th) difference is 3,387. While the value of t in the table (td) is 2,022 different. Because the value of th is greater than td, (th > td), the research hypothesis is accepted, meaning that the income of customer who receive working Capital Financing at Bankaltimtara Syariah Tanjung Redeb increases.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' communication skills in biology learning for tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Ciamis. The research employs a quasi-experimental method using a matched-only posttest-only control group design. The population consists of all tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Ciamis for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 376 students across 11 classes. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, with class X-1 assigned as the experimental group and class X-2 as the control group. The research instrument used is a communication skills test comprising eight descriptive questions. Data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test. The results indicate that the Problem-Based Learning model significantly influences students' communication skills in biology learning in the 2023/2024 academic year.
