Abstract

The Influence of Authoritarian Parenting on the Development of Early Childhood Creativity. Objectives: This study aims to reveal whether there is an influence of authoritarian parenting on the development of early childhood creativity. Methods: Ex Post Facto quantitative research involved 100 children aged 4-5 years and their parents, and 18 teachers from 9 kindergartens in Jambi City. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis to reveal the effect of authoritarian parenting on the development of creativity. Findings: Simple linear regression test for authoritarian parenting has a significance value of 0.003 (P <0.05) which means that it influences children’s creativity, children become unconfident, afraid to do something, and children tend to be quieted. Parents who apply the majority authoritarian parenting background in high school education. Conclusion: There is a negative influence of authoritarian parenting on the development of early childhood creativity. Keywords: authoritarian parenting, development of creativity, early childhood.DOI: 10.23960/jpp.v10.i2.202011

Abstract

Analysis of Epistemological Obstacles Experienced by Indonesian Junior High School Students in Solving Mathematical Literacy Problems viewed from Algebraic Thinking Skills. The low level of mathematical literacy skills can happen due to learning obstacles. There are various learning obstacles, one of which arises from students' errors or limitations in understanding a particular concept and context of the material, known as epistemological obstacles. One effort to improve mathematical literacy skills is by optimizing algebraic thinking abilities. This is why algebraic thinking is considered a focus of review. However, many students who transition from concrete to abstract thinking experience obstacles in algebraic thinking, including students in grade VIII. This study aims to analyze the epistemological obstacles junior high school students face in solving mathematical literacy problems from the perspective of their algebraic thinking skills. The research method is descriptive qualitative with research subjects of grade VIII junior high schools in Jaten who were then selected two students from each group of high, medium, and low algebraic thinking. The research data includes algebraic thinking ability tests, mathematical literacy tests, and interviews. The study results show that students with medium and low algebraic thinking abilities experienced epistemological obstacles in solving mathematical literacy problems. In contrast, students with high algebraic thinking abilities did not have experienced epistemological obtacles. This study concluded that there are differences in the characteristics of epistemological obstacles between students in the medium and low algebraic thinking ability groups, as identified by the indicators of epistemological obstacles. Keywords: epistemological obstacles, mathematical literacy, algebraic thinkingDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i2.202495

Abstract

Digital Flipbook-Based Mathematics Teaching Materials using RME Approach to Improve Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability. This research aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of flipbook-based statistics teaching materials using realistic mathematics education (RME) approach in improving the mathematical problem-solving abilities of class XI AKL students at SMK N 1 Karanganyar. This research and development uses a 4D model. The assessment of the development of teaching materials is based on the validity and practicality aspects, while the assessment of mathematical problem-solving abilities is based on the effectiveness aspect. Data were collected through material expert and media expert validation sheets for validity aspects, teacher and student response questionnaires for practical elements, and experimental class and control class student answer sheets for effectiveness aspects. Material and media experts assessed the validity aspect, and experimental class students and teachers evaluated the practicality aspect. The effectiveness aspect was by looking at the average post-test score for the experimental and control classes via the t-test. The assessment results show that the teaching materials developed are valid, practical, and effective.  Keywords: teaching materials, realistic mathematics education, research and developmentDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i3.202342

Abstract

The Function of Ethnomathematics in the Development of Pancasila Student Profiles for Indonesian Students Via Mathematics Education in Schools. The present mathematics curriculum in Indonesia (IND) places a strong emphasis on the creation of a Pancasila student profile in order to ensure that pupils are learning mathematics in a meaningful way. This paper suggests an integration of ethnomathematics into the formal mathematics curriculum as one approach to dealing with these learning issues. It is based on a literature assessment of studies on ethnomathematics, mathematics education, and Pancasila student profile. The literature review method used with a narrative review design. A total of 28 articles were selected for publication at the final stage of the review process. In light of the preceding explanation, it is clear that ethnomathematics plays a part in the formal school mathematics curriculum since the context-relevant and constraint-filled problem-solving techniques give many abstract mathematical notions the required contextual meaning. Keywords: ethnomathematics, mathematics education, pancasila student profiles.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202305

Abstract

Investigating the Horizontal Mathematization Process for Students with Diverse Adversity Quotients in Solving PISA-Oriented Problems. Objectives: This study aims to understand the horizontal mathematization process of students with climber, camper, and quitter types of Adversity Quotient (AQ) in solving PISA-oriented problems. Methods: This research employs a qualitative approach. Data was collected using questionnaires, written tests, and unstructured interviews. The data was analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and verification or conclusion. Findings: The research results indicate that students of SMP Negeri 9 Surakarta in the 2023/2024 academic year with a climber AQ type have already developed the ability to solve PISA-oriented problems using the horizontal mathematization process well. Students with a camper AQ type have already developed the ability to solve PISA-oriented problems reasonably using the horizontal mathematization process. Meanwhile, students with a quitter AQ type have not yet developed the ability to solve PISA-oriented problems using the horizontal mathematization process. Conclusion: Based on this research, students with a climber AQ type have a better or higher mathematical process than those with a camper or quitter AQ type. Keywords: adversity quotient, horizontal mathematization process, PISA.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024115
