Abstract

Village potential is the main capital in developing the economy, so empowerment of village potential needs to be done to welcome the nation's progress. The development of economic potential in Bandar Padang Village is something that needs to be considered by observing the existing potential. This observation eventually made the Sala Lauak Making Training an activity carried out in order to achieve this goal. Sala lauk is one of the typical Minangkabau snacks, West Sumatra, where the main ingredients are dried fish and rice flour. This snack has a unique taste and is loved by many people. By looking at the potential of Bandar Padang village during the dry season, where villagers are looking for fish in the rivers and processed into dried fish, the 2024 Riau University MBKM Kukerta Students are trying to introduce one of the typical Minangkabau snacks. Students of Kukerta MBKM Riau University 2024 held training activities for making Sala Lauak, with the hope of maximizing the empowerment of the village's potential and can increase the village's Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) by highlighting the village's own products and can preserve Indonesia's culinary heritage. In this training, participants were guided in making the Sala Lauak such as ingredients used in the manufacturing process and proper cooking techniques in order to improve the taste of the sala side dish. This activity involved Bandar Padang villagers, especially teenagers and adults.

Abstract

This research aims to increase student literacy and creativity at SD Negeri 06 Sungai Kayu Ara through the activity of making wall magazines (mading) with the theme "Heroes' Day". This activity was carried out by the UNRI 2024 Service Team by involving students in the process of creating poetry, short stories and pictures related to the theme of heroism. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach, through data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, documentation. The research results showed that this activity was successful in increasing students' reading interest and writing skills, as well as stimulating their creativity in producing works of art and visual designs. Apart from that, this activity also strengthens students' understanding of heroic values and improves social skills through collaboration in making wall magazines. Overall, making wall magazines has proven to be effective in developing students' literacy and creativity, and can be used as a creative and fun alternative learning method in schools, especially in rural areas.

Abstract

Community empowerment through innovation in the health and environmental sectors is a strategic step to improve the quality of life and community resilience to various health and environmental problems. The Universitas Riau and Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai Service Team Work Program in Sungai Kayu Ara Village, Siak Regency, aims to educate and empower the community through three main activities, namely the socialization of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) at SDN 06 Sungai Kayu Ara, the socialization of making soap from eco enzyme, as well as socializing the manufacture of dishwashing soap and water purifier. This program is implemented with a community participation-based approach, aiming to reduce dependence on products made from dangerous chemicals and provide practical, environmentally friendly solutions. The first activity was carried out on 12 October 2024, followed by the second activity on 16 October 2024, and the third activity on 6 December 2024. The results of this activity showed an increase in public knowledge regarding PHBS and the use of natural ingredients in everyday life, which had a positive impact on a healthier and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
