Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze and examine the correlation between madrasah climate and culture, and teachers? work motivation at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in West Sinjai District of Sinjai Regency. This research uses a correlational study with quantitative approach. The participants of this research are 64 teachers from Madrasah Tsanawiyah in West Sinjai District. Data collection technique with questionnaires and then analyzed by using product moment correlation for partial testing and multiple correlation for simultaneous testing. The research reveals some significant findings. First, the finding indicates a positive correlation between madrasah climate and teachers? work motivation by correlation coefficient value at 0,448 (which is at moderate level correlation). Second, the finding indicates a positive correlation between madrasah culture and teachers? work motivation by correlation coefficient value at 0,559 (which is at moderate level correlation). Third, the finding indicates a positive correlation between madrasah clime and culture, and teachers? work motivation by correlation coefficient value at 0,572 (which is at moderate level correlation).

Abstract

 This study aims to describe the enforcement of colonial power in Sambas Sultanate and to analyze the influence of the colonial bureaucratic system on changes in the bureaucratic system in Sambas Sultanate. This study uses a multidisciplinary approach namely the historical approach as the main approach assisted by social science approaches such as sociological, political, anthropological, and economic approaches. The method used is a historical method that includes four steps namely heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that the establishment of colonial rule in Sambas Sultanate began with an agreement of friendship and fellowship in 1818, continued with the abolition of the Chinese Kongsis, and prevented the expansion of British power. The implementation of the colonial bureaucracy that had led to modernization then influenced changes in the bureaucratic system in Sambas Sultanate, including changes in the administrative area, the implementation of governance with an ambivalent government system (direct and indirect government systems) and the recruitment of officials adjusted to colonial interest. The ambivalent nature of the bureaucracy aims to maintain the hegemony and position of the Dutch colonial as a superstructure. As a result, there was a patron-client relationship between colonial and traditional governments.تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى وصف تطبيق القوة الاستعمارية في سلطنة سامباس وتحليل تأثير النظام البيروقراطي الاستعماري على التغيرات في النظام البيروقراطي في سلطنة سامباس .تستخدم هذه الدراسة نهجًا متعدد التخصصات هو النهج التاريخي باعتباره النهج الرئيسي الذي تدعمه مناهج العلوم الاجتماعية مثل النهج الاجتماعي والنهج السياسي والنهج الأنثروبولوجي والنهج الاقتصادي .الطريقة المستخدمة هي طريقة تاريخية تتضمن أربع خطوات هي الاستدلال، التحقق، التفسير والتأريخ. أظهرت النتائج أن إقامة الحكم الاستعماري في سلطنة سامباس بدأ بمعاهدة الصداقة والزمالة عام 1818 ، تلاه إلغاء المجتمعات الصينية ومنع توسع السلطة البريطانية. أثر تطبيق البيروقراطية الاستعمارية التي أدت إلى التحديث على التغييرات في النظام البيروقراطي في سلطنة سامباس، بما في ذلك التغييرات في المجال الإداري، وتنفيذ الحكومة بنظام حكومي متناقض (أنظمة حكومية مباشرة وغير مباشرة) وتجنيد المسؤولين الذين تم تعديلهم حسب الأذواق الاستعمارية. تهدف الطبيعة المتناقضة للبيروقراطية إلى الحفاظ على هيمنة ومكان الاستعمار الهولندي كبنية فوقية .ونتيجة لذلك، توجد علاقة راعية-عميل بين الحكومتين الاستعمارية والتقليدية. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penegakan kekuasaan kolonial di Kesultanan Sambas dan menganalisis pengaruh sistem birokrasi kolonial terhadap perubahan sistem birokrasi di Kesultanan Sambas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan multidisipliner yaitu pendekatan historis sebagai pendekatan utama dibantu dengan pendekatan ilmu-ilmu sosial seperti pendekatan sosiologis, politik, antropologis dan ekonomi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis mencakup empat langkah yaitu heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penegakan kekuasaan kolonial di Kesultanan Sambas dimulai dengan perjanjian persahabatan dan persekutuan tahun 1818, dilanjutkan dengan menghapus Kongsi-kongsi Cina dan mencegah perluasan kekuasaan Inggris. Pelaksanaan birokrasi kolonial yang sudah mengarah ke modernisasi kemudian mempengaruhi perubahan sistem birokrasi di Kesultanan Sambas antara lain perubahan wilayah administrasi, pelaksanaan pemerintahan dengan sistem pemerintahan yang bersifat ambivalent (sistem pemerintahan secara langsung dan tidak langsung) dan rekrutmen pejabat disesuaikan selera kolonial. Sifat birokrasi yang ambivalent tersebut bertujuan untuk mempertahankan hegemoni dan kedudukan kolonial Belanda sebagai superstructure. Akibatnya terjalin hubungan patron-client antara pemerintah kolonial dan tradisional.

Abstract

Abstract.  This study examines the symbolic meaning of a tradition and aims to describe the form of symbolic meaning contained in the mappacci tradition at Bugis traditional weddings in Bone Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method using Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis. The data in this study are in the form of symbolic meanings contained in the symbols used in the mappacci tradition of Bugis traditional marriages in Bone Regency. The source of the data in this study was the mappacci ritual procession for the traditional wedding of the Bugis tribe in Bone Regency and the people of Makassar who have in-depth knowledge of the mappacci event. Data collection techniques used in this study were direct observation, interview techniques, documentation techniques, and recording techniques. The results showed that mappacci contains a symbolic meaning as self-cleanliness and purity, which has the aim of cleansing the soul and body of the bride and groom before entering the household ark. The forms of symbolic meaning contained in the mappaci tradition are: 1) pillows have a symbolic meaning of mutual respect (sipakatau), honor and glory or dignity, 2) silk sarongs have a symbolic meaning of self-esteem, istikhamah and perseverance, 3) banana shoots have a meaning symbolic connecting or continuous, 4) jackfruit leaves have a symbolic meaning of noble ideals and hope, and honesty, 5) pacci leaves have a symbolic meaning of cleanliness and purity, 6) rice has a symbolic meaning of growing well, prosperous, and prosperous, 7 ) a candle has a meaning as a sulo matappa (sulo of life) or gives light to the path to be taken, 8) a pacci place or container has a symbolic meaning of unity, 9) water as a complement. Of the nine forms of symbolic meaning, these are arranged in one summary of words containing hopes and prayers for the welfare and happiness of the bride and groom in carrying out the household ark. Keywords: symbolic meaning, mappacci, semiotics

Abstract

This study aims to identify challenges in implementing character education at SMP DDI Polman, West Sulawesi. Character education in this school is expected to shape students with excellent and responsible behavior. Nevertheless, it encounters a variety of challenges during its execution. This investigation implements a qualitative descriptive methodology. Data were gathered through documentation analysis, direct observation, and in-depth interviews. The study results indicate that one of the main obstacles is the limited time available in the learning schedule. Character education is often considered an additional, low priority because the main focus is more on the academic achievement being tested. In addition, the lack of understanding and commitment from all related parties, including teachers, principals, and students, also affects the effectiveness of the implementation of character education. Consequently, it is imperative to incorporate character education into all school activities consistently. This study implies that creating a quality generation is contingent upon enhancing collective awareness of the urgency of character education and improving time management

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative research that aims to (1) Describe the form of directive speech acts in Mata Najwa's Dialogue Show “Why Do I Need to Study ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. (2) To describe the function of directive speech acts in Mata Najwa's Dialogue Show “Why Do I Need to Go to College ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. The data in this study are transcripts of speech or fragments of conversations in the video of Mata Najwa Show “Why Do I Need to Go to College ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. The source of the data is the dialog conversation contained in Mata Najwa Show “Why Do I Need to Go to College ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. Data collection is done by listening technique, data transcription and note taking technique. Data analysis is done by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. From the analysis, it is found that there are six forms of directive speech acts, namely: requests, questions, orders, prohibitions, giving permission, and advice.

Abstract

Gaya Bahasa dalam Teks Barzanji Bugis oleh H. Abdul Karim ‘Aly. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa yang digunakan dalam teks barzanji Bugis oleh H. Abdul Karim ‘Aly beserta maknanya. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengkaji gaya bahasa dalam teks barzanji Bugis yang digunakan H. Abdul Karim ‘Aly dengan menggunakan pendekatan stilistika. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teknik baca, dan teknik catat. Hasil dari penelitian ini mendapatkan jenis gaya bahasa berdasarkan struktur kalimat, yaitu satu gaya bahasa antiklimaks, dan mendapatkan jenis gaya bahasa berdasarkan langsung tidaknya makna yaitu dua gaya bahasa asindeton, satu gaya bahasa pleonasme, dua belas gaya bahasa simile, tiga gaya bahasa metafora, dan enam gaya bahasa personifikasi. Kedua, makna dari setiap gaya bahasa yang didapatkan erat kaitannya dengan perjalanan kenabiannya Nabi Saw, silsilah keturunannya, masa kanak-kanak, remaja, hingga diangkat menjadi rasul, hijrah, akhlaq, peperangan, hingga wafatnya.

Abstract

Description Text Writing Skills Using Lontara Script with Object Observation Techniques in Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 5 Barru". Thesis, Regional Language and Literature Education Study Program, Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Language and Literature, Makassar State University, (supervised by Syamsudduha, and Aswati Asri). This research aims to describe the skills of writing descriptive text using the Lontara script with object observation techniques for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Barru. This research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study was all 196 class VIII students. The sample determined was 32 people. The data analysis technique used to collect data in this research is the written test technique. The results of this research show that the skills in writing descriptive text using the Lontara script with object observation techniques in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Barru are in the unskilled category. This was shown from the 32 samples that had been determined, 6 students (19%) got a score of 75-100, and 26 students (81%) got a score of 0-74.

Abstract

Critical Discourse Analysis of Djarum Cigarettes 76. This study aims to determine the form of choice of words and the meaning of the references contained in the choice of Indonesian language discourse in the Djarum 76 cigarette ad edition "Om Jin: I Give One Request". The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study indicate that the Djarum 76 advertisement shows a phenomenon that meaning is dead because the Djarum 76 advertisement offers a very open interpretation to anyone who will enjoy it. The conclusion behind the critical discourse echoed, veiled ideology and interests related to capitalism.

Abstract

Development of Multiliteration-Based Exposition Text Teaching Materials in Junior High School. This study aims to develop multiliterate-based exposition text teaching materials for class VIII junior high school students. This research is a research that uses research and development type. The research design used is an adaptation of the Dick & Carey development model. The data analysis technique was carried out by means of qualitative and quantitative descriptive and expert test data analysis using Aiken's formula. The results of this study are in the form of products, namely teaching materials in the form of textbooks which are categorized as very feasible. (1) The development of multiliterate-based exposition text teaching materials for class VIII SMP and equivalent is very important to meet the material needs of students in the 21st century education era and to overcome the weaknesses of the teaching materials used. (2) Based on the assessments of 3 experts, the teaching materials in the form of multiliterate-based exposition text books for grade VIII junior high school students are in the very appropriate category.

Abstract

Representation of Ideology in the Novel Pasung Jiwa by Okky Madasari. This study aims to describe the form of expressive values in grammatical aspects in representing ideology. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research. The design used in this study is a qualitative descriptive design. The data in this study is the expressive value of the text in the novel Pasung Jiwa by Okky Madasari using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis approach. Meanwhile, the data source of this research comes from the novel Pasung Jiwa by Okky Madasari. Data collection techniques used inventory techniques, reading techniques, and note-taking techniques. Data analysis consists of three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and leveraging research results. The results of the study show that the expressive form of grammatical aspects, verbal expressions support the form of diction against the ruling party, non-verbal forms of support strengthen the encouragement of minorities and support the supporters to be more empowered.
