Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of the Instagram account @official.usu on the image and public trust at the University of North Sumatra in Medan City and to determine the level of influence between the use of the Instagram account @official.usu and the image and public trust at the University of North Sumatra in Medan City. This research method uses a quantitative approach and is carried out in Medan Baru District which consists of 6 Villages. The theories used are public relations theory, new media, image and trust. Indicators of Instagram use consist of Context, Communication, Collaboration, and Connection, indicators of image consist of Personality, Reputation, Value, and Corporate Identity, indicators of trust consist of Ability, Integrity, and Benevolence. Sampling was carried out using the Stratified Proportional Sampling and Cluster Random Sampling techniques with a sample size of 400 people. Data were collected through Google Forms which were distributed to respondents. The research data were analyzed using the single table method, cross table, Spearman Rank hypothesis test, and correlation coefficient analysis

Abstract

Kelurahan Bersinar (Narcotics-Free Village) program, initiated by the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, involves various agencies. The objective of the research is to analyze the communication process in the program. The research employs interpretive paradigm with qualitative approach. The data are gathered by conducing in-depth interview, observation, documentation study, and library research. The gathered data are analyzed by using interactive method of Miles and Huberman. The research is done at the Kelurahan Tanah Seribu, Binjai, North Sumatera which is the first narcotics-free village in Binjai. The result of the research shows that the process of communication done by the team is through face to face communication, and through outdoor and indoor communication. The communication barriers found are late distribution of activity tehnical manual books, repeated materials, and people’s negative stigma to government employees taking care of the problems related to narcotics abuse.

Abstract

Wahana Visi Indonesia for the South Nias Program Area is a non-profit organization that carries out a campaign to stop violence against children by using a strategy of message appeals with the nuances of local wisdom, namely ono harato sebua. The research employs a descriptive method using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. The result shows that the use of message appeals of ono harato sebua in the campaign to stop violence against children, using rational appeals, emotional appeals and morality appeals. The rational appeals use visual media and socialization. Visual media using stickers written on ono harato sebua, and socialization is to convey data on violence against children that occurred in South Nias regency, accompanied by presentation on children’s rights. The emotional appeal that arises is positive emotional appeals, and the moral appeal that appears is the attitude of responsibility and changes in good and right parenting patterns. Barriers that arise during the campaign are personal barriers and environmental barriers. Personal barriers refer to public’s perception of the campaign to stop violence against children, while environmental barriers refer to the indifference and lack of cooperation between community groups in supporting the campaign.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memahami peran strategis guru dalam memfasilitasi dan mendorong perkembangan kognitif anak ditengah masifnya penggunaan teknologi digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur sistematis dan survei kualitatif terhadap guru taman kanak kanak (TK) di perkotaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 90% guru telah mengintegrasikan perangkat digital seperti tablet dan aplikasi eduktif dalam proses belajar mengajar, namun integrasi tersebut masih didominasi oleh penggunaan sebagai alat bantu visual, bukan alat interaksi kognitif. Ditemukan pula bahwa kurangnya pelatihan spesifik mengenai literasi digital dan desain pembelajaran berbasis kognitif merupakan hambatan utama. Integrasi digital yang tepat menjadi krusial karena teknologi, jika tidak dikelola dengan baik, berpotensi menghambat pengembangan keterampilan berfikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah (aspek kognitif Tingkat tinggi) pada anak. Kesimpuannya, guru harus bertransformasi dari sekadar penyedia konten menjadi fasiliator dan perancang pengalaman belajar digital yang berfokus pada stimulasi kognitif aktif. Perlunya modul pelatihan yang berkesinambungan bagi guru untuk memaksimalkan potensi perkembangan kognitif anak di era teknologi.

Abstract

Television media, on the one side, has an influence on the audience, but in reporting disasters, it is not uncommon to exploit disaster victims. On the other side, television media has the potential to make a positive contribution to disaster reporting. The purpose of this study is  to determine the presence of television media in news to improve the disaster literacy skills of the community. In this study, the author uses a type of library research with descriptive analysis. Descriptive analysis method provides clear, objective, systematic, analytical and critical descriptions and information regarding the presence of television media in disaster reporting to improve the community’s disaster literacy skills. This research found that the role of television media in reporting disasters can improve people's disaster literacy skills. The presence of television media has been going well enough in reporting disasters, but it still needs to change the concept or packaging of news to avoid the impression of "dramatization" to build community empathy so that they are willing to be actively involved to reduce the risk of disaster in an applicative manner. A good and deep understanding will be obtained by the public from the media. Thus,  the public will not only get information from communicators (resource persons) about disasters at a cognitive level but also will increase the affective and conative aspects so that they have their own awareness in managing disaster risks as well as possible.  This paper explained there are three stages of disaster literacy that can be built by television such as cognitive aspect, affective aspect and conative aspect in disaster reporting that can reduce the risk of disaster. The stages are: (1) when the news is carried out by television media before a disaster occurs, (2) stage of reporting during disasters and (3) stage of television media coverage after disasters.
