Abstract

Over recent decades, AI in education has evolved into adaptive, personalized tools like ChatGPT. For Generation Z pre-service science teachers, ChatGPT supports lesson planning, reflection, and simulation. Using TPB and UTAUT2, this study explores factors influencing ChatGPT acceptance and use, offering insights to inform future teacher education programs. This study used a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design with 221 pre-service science teachers. Data were collected online using a validated instrument based on UTAUT and TPB constructs. Statistical analysis involved descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, t-tests, and ANOVA to examine ChatGPT acceptance and use patterns. The study found that Generation Z pre-service science teachers generally hold neutral to slightly positive attitudes toward ChatGPT, recognizing its ease of use and potential benefits. However, social influence, habit formation, and actual usage remain weak. Descriptive and correlation analyses show that habit, facilitating conditions, and hedonic motivation are the strongest predictors of behavioral intention and use. These results suggest that institutional support and strategies to increase habitual and enjoyable use are key to enhancing ChatGPT adoption in educational settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the negative attitudes of pre-service English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers toward the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. Using a quantitative cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 363 undergraduate students enrolled in teacher education programs. The participants completed the Negative Attitudes Toward Artificial Intelligence (NATAI) scale which was validated through expert review. Rasch model analysis was employed to examine item fit, reliability, and unidimensionality. The instrument demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.84), strong person and item reliability (0.80 and 0.98, respectively), and solid construct validity. The Wright Map revealed a moderate to high concern among students, particularly about AI's emotional and ethical implications. Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis based on year of study and gender showed minimal variation across groups, with third-year students expressing slightly stronger ethical concerns. A one-way ANOVA and independent t-test confirmed no significant difference in attitudes based on the year of study, suggesting uniform skepticism across cohorts. These findings imply a need for teacher education curricula to address AI literacy and integrate balanced perspectives to prepare future educators for AI-enhanced classrooms.

Abstract

As a new technology, ChatGPT has been integrated into teaching and learning, but there is still a lack of studies on ChatGPT-assisted problem-based learning in physics. Therefore, this study investigates its integration in relation to students’ academic achievement and ChatGPT acceptance. This study used a quasi-experimental design with 65 students who divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected via pre- and post-tests and analyzed using Rasch analysis, ANCOVA, t-test, and DIF, supported by validated instruments and expert review. The study found that students in the experimental group, who used ChatGPT-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL), showed significantly higher post-test scores in physics compared to the control group. Wright Map and DIF analyses revealed stronger performance on higher-order conceptual items among the experimental group. ANCOVA confirmed a large effect size (η² = 0.715) for the intervention. Rasch analysis of ChatGPT acceptance showed that the experimental group had higher agreement with most items, and independent t-tests indicated significantly greater acceptance across variables like attitude, habit, and behavioral intention. These findings support ChatGPT-assisted PBL as effective for both learning outcomes and technology acceptance.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming science education through virtual labs, intelligent tutoring, and adaptive assessments. However, pre-service teachers often lack formal training in AI integration. This study aims to validated the Artificial Intelligence Competence Self-Efficacy (AICS) instrument using Rasch model, covering AI knowledge (AIK), AI Pedagogy (AIP), AI Assessment (AIA), AI Ethics (AIE), Human-Centred Education (HCE), and Professional Engagement (PEN). This study used a quantitative survey with 338 third-year pre-service science teachers selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected via Google Forms where ethical considerations and back-translation ensured data integrity. Data were analyzed through reliability, separation, item fit statistics, unidimensionality and Differential Item Functioning (DIF). The findings indicate that the AICS instrument is psychometrically sound, with high reliability (person reliability = 0.94, item reliability = 0.95) and excellent separation indices. The Wright Map showed that item difficulty was well-aligned with participant ability, effectively capturing various levels of AI self-efficacy. Item fit statistics confirmed all items functioned within acceptable ranges, and unidimensionality analysis supported the measurement of a single, coherent construct. DIF analysis showed minimal gender bias, though one item (AIP1) favored males. Overall, the instrument is valid and reliable for being used to assess AI competence self-efficacy among pre-service science teachers.

Abstract

There are numerous reported studies to find the best way of teaching physics, but their quantitative analysis merely depends on some inferential statistics comprising ANCOVA, t-test etc. Those analysis do not generate detailed information of student’s abilities, therefore this study analyze the effects of double-loop problem solving teaching methods towards student’s critical thinking using Rasch analysis. In this study, the samples were divided into experimental group and control group with 28 students and 25 students respectively. After the intervention, their critical thinking was measured using instrument that has been validated and pilot tested using Rasch analysis by considering their reliability, item fit statistics, and unidimensionality. After data analysis, based on person measure, it was found that there is statistically significant post-test logit score between experiment and control class with pre-test as covariate, p value
