Abstract

Classification is the process of grouping objects based on similarities and differences. In this article, a multi-objective classification model is developed with three objective functions, namely the function that maximizes the values of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity. The developed model is applied to the problem of classifying meat, egg and fish consumption levels. The classification method used is K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) with three objective functions and the addition of the GridSearchCV module to the KNN calculation. Completion of the multiobjective model using the weighting method and Particle Swam Optimization (PSO). Based on the data, with objective function weights of 1, 2 and 3 respectively being 0.7, 0.15 and 0.15, the results obtained for Rural Areas Meat, Fish and Egg Attributes of the model performance are in good criteria. for Urban Areas Attributes of Meat, Fish and Eggs the model's performance in the criteria is very good. Addition of the GridsearchCV module can facilitate the calculation of the KNN method classification because the model will provide the best k value without having to do repeated calculations.

Abstract

Cultivation of horticultural crops is often faced with the problem of plant pests, namely pests and plant diseases which cause plant productivity to decrease. In controlling pests and diseases, farmers often use synthetic pesticides, but farmers use pesticides that do not comply with regulations. The research aimed to identify species of pests and diseases in horticultural crops and farmers' in Tanjung Seteko Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra in controlling pests and diseases of horticultural crops. This research method used purposive sampling and direct observation in the field. The farmers who were interviewed were farmers who grew horticultural crops. The results of this research found that vegetation around plants influences the diversity of pests and diseases. There were 8 pest species found with the highest attack rate of 17.56%, namely Diaphania indica attacks and the lowest attack intensity was Valanga sp. 0.19%. There were 8 types of diseases found with the highest attack rate being 41.11% (Cucumber mosaic virus) and the lowest at 0.56% (fusarium wilt). Pest and disease control with the application of synthetic pesticides by farmers was in a good category. The scoring of farmer’s respondent statements in Tanjung Seteko Village was obtained with a score range of 28-41. The scoring results show that farmer’s behavior in using pesticides is in the good category.

Abstract

In the North Indralaya sub-district, annual crop agriculture, including annuals, melons, and watermelons, relies on conventional cultivation methods using expensive synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides to enhance production and combat pests and diseases. This community service initiative aims to educate and implement integrated control practices for sustainable annual crop cultivation while providing knowledge on pest and disease management in Tanjung Seteko Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The project, part of Sriwijaya University's integrated community service program, seeks to transform the village into a vegetable center in Ogan Ilir. The activities involve socializing integrated control methods through focused group discussions, practical sessions on biostimulant preparation, and field application. Farmers actively participate, posing questions about optimal annual crop cultivation and integrated control solutions. Preliminary results indicate that combining biostimulants with integrated control effectively manages pests and plant diseases. Continued intensive support aims to enable farmers in Tanjung Seteko village to adopt integrated control practices successfully, contributing to the village's potential as a vegetable center in Ogan Ilir.

Abstract

An experiment is conducted to investigate the effects of cultural techniques on pepper yellow leaf curl disease caused by Pepper yellow leaf curl Indonesia virus (PepYLCIV). The investigation is conducted in the area where the disease has been endemic and Bemisia tabaci is abundant. Four cultural techniques are applied in separate lands and cannot interfere with each other. The methods applied are seed treatment, intercropping, trap cropping, and physical barrier. Seeds harvested from infected plants are used for seed treatment experiments, and local farmers use commercial sources for other experiments. The results confirmed that PepYLCIV was a seed-borne virus affected by hot water treatment at 65oC for 30 minutes. Turmeric crude extract could reduce the incidence and severity of the disease. The tomato is a better intercrop than eggplant, mung bean, and soybean in reducing disease incidence, but their effects on disease severity and yield reduction were not significantly different. Basil and marigolds were better barrier crops compared to cosmos and zinnia. A 125 cm high physical barrier using 50 mesh cheesecloth could reduce the disease incidence, but not the lower ones. Under different cultural techniques, PepYLCIV causes a 40.00–52.32% chili yield reduction.

Abstract

Banana bunchy top disease has become increasingly important in South Sumatra. The disease, caused by Banana bunchy top virus (BBTV), leads to severe losses as infected plants fail to produce fruit. The virus is transmitted in a persistent manner by banana aphid, Pentalonia nigronervosa. Both nymphs and adults of the aphid can transmit the virus, with adults being more efficient vectors than nymphs. The threat of the disease in the province has been escalating, as indicated by the significant rise in the number of infected banana plants in the recent years. However, no epidemiological study had been conducted prior to this research. This study aimed to identify and evaluate the contributing factors to the epidemic of banana bunchy top disease in South Sumatra. A survey was conducted to assess the banana cropping system and all aspects contributing to the disease’s epidemiology in the province. Thirteen regencies were surveyed using a purposive sampling method, covering 11 regencies and 3 cities selected based on the accessibility of banana plantations by transportation routes. In each site, banana plants within an imaginary 50-meter diameter circle centered on an infected plant were sampled. The result showed that the BBTV epidemic was influenced by several factors: (1) banana genome, with diploid AA and triploid AAA cultivars being more resistant than those containing the B genome; (2) cropping system, with higher disease prevalence in mixed-cropping systems than in monoculture; (3) botanical environment, where the presence of alternative hosts of P. nigronervosa correlated with higher disease incidence; (4) farmer behavior, with lack of concern or action against the disease contributing to its spread; and (5) transportation access, with higher incidence observed in areas closer to roads.

Abstract

Tourism is a strategic sector that significantly contributes to regional economic development, including in the Buton Island area, which offers numerous potential tourist attractions. However, tourism promotion in this region still faces challenges, particularly due to the limitations of conventional information media such as brochures, printed maps, and static websites that lack interactivity and fail to meet the expectations of modern tourists seeking accessible, engaging, and dynamic information. This condition highlights the need for innovative promotional media capable of delivering attractive content and increasing user engagement. Augmented Reality (AR) offers a promising solution, as it integrates real-world objects with interactive digital elements, thereby creating a more immersive informational experience. This study aims to design and develop an Augmented Reality–based application for introducing tourist attractions on Buton Island as an alternative information medium for visitors. The research employed a qualitative approach through interviews with officers from the Tourism Departments of Baubau City, Buton Regency, South Buton, Central Buton, North Buton, and Wakatobi, as well as direct observations of tourism managers to identify on-site needs and issues. A literature review was also conducted to examine relevant theories and best practices regarding AR application development. The results indicate that the developed AR application operated effectively on three tested smartphone devices and successfully detected markers at distances of 10–100 cm. The application was considered useful in providing tourism information, enhancing visitors’ knowledge, and presenting images and descriptions of attractions interactively.
