Abstract

Stunting can be caused by a variety of factors, such as the implementation of initiation of early breastfeeding which is not appropriate and the provision of breast milk is not exclusive. The purpose of this study was to know the relationship between early breastfeeding initiation and exclusive breastfeeding with stunting in two-year-old infants aged 7-24 months in the work area of Pantoloan Health Center. This type of research was an analytical survey with design cross-sectional. The sample in this study were two-year-old infants aged 7-24 months totaling 57 samples with sampling techniques namely proportional random sampling and data analysis using Chi-Square. The results showed that respondents who experienced stunting were 36.8% and not stunting 63.2%. Respondents who had early breastfeeding initiationn din not tend to experience stunting (79.2%), while respondents who received exclusive breastfeeding tended not to experience stunting (81.0%). The results of the statistical test showed a significant relationship between early breastfeeding initiation and exclusive breastfeeding with stunting with the same p-value of 0.033 (α<0.05). The conclusion is that there was a relationship between early breastfeeding initiation and exclusive breastfeeding with stunting. Suggestions for researchers and for health workers to maximize promote and implement early breastfeeding initiations and exclusive breastfeeding for mothers to prevent and minimize the incidence of stunting in children in the future.

Abstract

Abstract: The golden age period is important cycle in children, where children's intelligence develops rapidly. The golden age starts from the first 1000 days of a child's life until two years of age. This can reduce the risk of children experiencing stunting since pregnancy by balanced nutrition, routine antenatal care, exercising, good parenting, and avoiding exposure cigarette. The solution existing problems is the Community Partnership Program (PKM) through educational and questions-answers on how stunting prevention must be carried out in the first 1000 days of life (HPK) and training mothers with toddlers and cadres to conduct screening assessments of child development using KPSP (Development Pre-screening Questionnaire). The problems by partners are not fully aware and growth development of toddlers using KPSP. This aims to determine whether the child's development is abnormal or normal. The results of the service activities carried out showed an increase in knowledge and skills for PKM partners and mothers of children under five about stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Stunting is a sign of persistent malnutrition during a critical period of child development, especially in the second trimester of pregnancy. This study aimed to determine the causes of stunting in infants between 24 and 59 months. The Kamaipura Health Center in Sigi Regency, Indonesia is the location for the research. Data was collected from January to December 2020 from medical record data. The population consisted of 156 children under the age of five, of which 134 samples were selected using a purposive sampling technique and were divided into two groups: stunting and non-stunting. Analytic test using Chi-square, OR, and logistic regression (p=0.05). Infants who are not exclusively breastfed have a 9.44 times higher risk of stunting (OR=9.44; 95% CI=4.28 to 20.7), according to an analysis with a CI of -95%. Chronic energy deficiency and low birth weight during pregnancy are associated with an increased risk of growth disorders by 5.98 (OR=5.98; 95% CI=2.47 to 14.43) and 4.6 times (OR=4.6) respectively; 95% CI=1.73 to 12.42). In addition, the R-square logistic regression analysis of 0.374 indicates that the overall influence of the variables is 37.4%. A history of exclusive breastfeeding, low birth weight (LBW) babies, and chronic energy deficiency (CED) during pregnancy is strongly associated with the prevalence of stunting. To reduce the prevalence of poor growth, better health promotion is needed from the beginning of pregnancy.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between health promotion and community participation in the success of community-based total sanitation (CBTS) programs. Using a qualitative literature review approach, the research analyzes various studies and reports that highlight the role of health education and community involvement in ensuring the effectiveness of CBTS initiatives. The findings suggest that health promotion strategies, which focus on raising awareness and changing behaviors regarding sanitation, significantly contribute to community engagement and the sustainability of sanitation practices. Furthermore, active participation of local communities in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of sanitation programs leads to a more successful adoption of sanitation behaviors and long-term improvements in public health. The study emphasizes the importance of a collaborative approach between health professionals, local governments, and communities in achieving sustainable sanitation outcomes.

Abstract

Preterm birth (PTB) remains a significant public health challenge in developing countries, contributing to high neonatal morbidity and mortality rates. This qualitative literature review aims to explore the maternal risk factors influencing the incidence of preterm birth in these regions. By examining existing studies, the review identifies key maternal characteristics such as age, nutritional status, socioeconomic factors, reproductive history, and healthcare access, which contribute to the risk of PTB. Additionally, the review highlights the role of environmental factors, including stress, pollution, and infections, in increasing preterm birth rates. The findings suggest that improving maternal healthcare, enhancing public awareness, and addressing socioeconomic disparities are essential in reducing the prevalence of preterm birth in developing countries. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing PTB and offers insights for developing targeted interventions aimed at reducing its incidence in resource-limited settings.
