Abstract

Theemergence of various kinds of cafes in Malang City has created a new lifestyle, namely gathering with friends, especially for the younger generation. This lifestyle makes cafes continue to appear in Malang City with concepts that are liked by this generation, one of which is the cozy concept. But this makes the cafés that keep popping up pay less attention to quality in terms of atmosphere and menu because they focus too much on the cozy interior that the younger generation likes. Therefore, information media is needed that can attract tourists and the public in choosing and visiting cafes not only based on trends, through making designs that aim to get concept visualizations through the media of essay photography books that contain information about 8 cafes with cozy concepts in Malang City. The design method used is the creative communication design method and is combined with qualitative data collection methods. This essay photography book uses interior and food photo styles, with a book size of 22.4 x 17 cm with a total of 248 pages, full color, and bound using doff laminated hardcover. The conclusion of this design is to get a visualization of the concept of an essay photography book to provide information about cozy cafes through photo visualization along with narratives through book media and supporting media such as bookmarks, tote bags, photo sheets, stickers, tumblers, acrylic straws, diffusers, and marketing media through social media Instagram.

Abstract

Today the world is entering the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, where technology has become a part of human life. In the world of education, the rapid development of internet and technology encourages renewal efforts in learning. The problem identified one of them is the study of 3D modeling DKV Ma Chung is still conventional and has not adapted the learning in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution. The method used is Research and Development with an ADDIE version development research model. The steps are: Analysis, Design, Development, and Implementation. The stages of development using stages in video production are pre production, production, and post production. The final result of the study was a Schoology-based 3D modeling learning video product for DKV Ma Chung students. Product eligibility can be seen from the material expert assessment results with a percentage of 85% which is categorized as highly feasible. The results of the media experts with a percentage rate of 88% are categorized as highly feasible. Product ratings by students get a percentage of 88% which is categorized very well.

Abstract

City of Culinary is the nickname of Malang City because within Malang City, there are lots of types of Culinary spots, including the legendary culinary destinations that has been around for decades. However, the popularity of modern café that keeps developing in the past few years can cause the fall of Malang City’s legendary culinary tour destination. Therefore, photography is used as the media that will gives information about the whereabouts of the legendary culinary destinations, so that people keep on knowing the legendary culinary destinations that exist, and those destinations still survive in this modern era. The design method that is used is a research method with qualitative approach. Through data collection such as interviews, observation, and documentation, a lot of datas was obtained to be analyzed to find the design concept of this photobook. The photobook concept obtained is photography, nostalgia, and cultural preservation. The genre that is used for this photography is food photography, where the photo results will be packed as a photobook with 10 legendary culinary destinations that has the dimension of 20 x 20 cm with 117 pages thick, printed in full color, and bounded with hardcover. Beside legendary food photo from those 10 legendary culinary destinations, this photobook is also consists of the short history from each of the legendary culinary, the legendary menu, and informations about the location of the places, accompanied with QR Code that is connected to Google Maps.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the Indonesian, English, and Mandarin vowel production of Ma Chung University students, a prominent Indonesian institution with a strong emphasis on workforce readiness. Given the university's language offerings encompassing Indonesian, English, and Mandarin, we employed a descriptive qualitative approach in acoustic-phonetic theory. Our respondent pool comprised of 15 PPBM (Chinese language major) students selected based on intermediate proficiency levels in all three languages, as indicated by TOEIC and HSK scores. First and second formant data for monophthongs were recorded in PRAAT tools and the data is compiled on Microsoft Excel, forming the foundation for Vowel Space Area (VSA). The data reveals a notable phenomenon: students' native language (Indonesian) influences their pronunciation of both the second (English) and third (Mandarin) languages. Particularly, English displays a distinct pattern of compressed vowel spread compared to the standard VSA table due to the lingering impact of L1 VSA. This effect accounts for observed vowel anomalies in student pronunciation. Importantly, this L1 and L2 influence is evident in their attempts to articulate L3 (Mandarin) sounds, exemplified by the significant deviation of /ə/ from the VSA. Moreover, students navigate a linguistic shift by modifying phonemes to align with their L1, inadvertently resulting in substantial deviations during English and Mandarin speech production.

Abstract

SMK Nurul terletak di Pujon, Kabupaten Malang yang berbatasan langsung dengan kotamadya Batu, juga memiliki lokasi yang cukup nyaman dengan dikelilingi oleh area persawahan serta pemandangan pegunungan, namun tetap dekat dengan akses jalan raya. SMK tersebut merupakan bagian dari Pondok Pesantren Nurul Haromain, sehingga proses belajar mengajar yang ada didalamnya memiliki integrasi dengan akhlak Al Quran dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Meski telah berdiri lama, namun masih memiliki siswa antara 20 – 40 per tahun dengan dua jurusan yang dimiliki, yakni tata busana dan Teknik Komputer Jaringan, maka pihak sekolah berniat untuk melakukan inovasi dalam proses promosi penerimaan peserta didik baru (PPDB) di tahun ajaran berikutnya. Salah satu proses promosi yang akan ditempuh adalah melalui pemasangan iklan dan sebaran informasi melalui internet. Profil multimedia berupa video singkat dengan alokasi waktu antara 3 hingga 5 menit bertujuan untuk menunjang kepentingan proses promosi dalam PPDB. Video profile juga dapat menjadi sarana komunikasi satu arah yang sangat efektif bagi pihak sekolah dengan stakeholders seperti dewan pengawas sekolah, pihak yayasan maupun orang tua siswa. Selain itu juga dapat menjadi sarana pengikat bagi para alumni untuk bisa menyebarluaskan informasi yang tepat mengenai keunggulan kompetitif atau competitive advantage dari almamater kepada khalayak secara luas. Sehingga hal tersebut dapat menjadi justifikasi mengenai kepentingan pembuatan video profile ini bagi SMK Nurul Haromain..

Abstract

East Manggarai Regency has great potential as a stunning cultural and natural tourist destination. One of the main attractions is the Megalithic Stone Site located in Watu Nggene Village. This site is an old cemetery located in the East Manggarai Region, Flores Island, Indonesia. However, initial observations show that there has been no significant effort from the government to effectively promote and disseminate information regarding this Megalithic Site. Therefore, a Photography Essay Book is needed that can help promote and inform this Megalithic Site to a wide audience. This research uses a qualitative method with descriptive analysis data analysis, so that the data collected will be analyzed and explained in detail in the form of descriptions. With this approach, a Photographic Essay Book entitled “Visit Megalithic Manggarai Timur,” which can provide information to prospective tourists both domestic and international, was created. The design concept of this book aims to visualize the beauty of culture, history, and natural scenery of East Manggarai realistically, accompanied by supporting narratives that explain each photo. This book measures 22 x 16 cm with a total of 100 pages, consisting of 75% full-color photos and 25% supporting narration. Supporting media includes social media instagram, posters, Bookmarks, Tote bags, tshirts,hat and tumblr that describe.

Abstract

Indonesia is rich in traditional cuisine, including that of East Java. With the advancement of time and increasing innovation, the presence of traditional snacks has diminished due to the rise of more varied modern snacks and changing consumer lifestyles. Changes in consumer preferences and the scarcity of raw materials also threaten the preservation of Indonesia's culinary heritage. Furthermore, many young people today prefer fast food that is convenient and visually appealing. However, traditional snacks can be just as enjoyable in terms of taste and presentation, and they carry significant socio-cultural values. Therefore, there is a need for an informational medium that can both introduce traditional snacks and rekindle the interest of teenagers in East Javanese traditional snacks. The design method used is creative communication design, incorporating qualitative data collection. This photo essay book is designed to be 22 x 16 cm in size with 126 full-color pages, bound in a hardcover with a matte lamination. The aim of this photo essay book is to create a visual presentation that introduces various traditional East Javanese snacks through a blend of modern and authentic concepts, using photography complemented by narratives and supporting media such as bookmarks, tote bags, postcards, stickers, tumblers, keyrings, notebooks, t-shirts, posters, banners, desk calendar and marketing through Instagram.

Abstract

Designing an inspirational video about Batik is an activity to process a video following current trends with the aim of inspiring Indonesian teenagers to wear batik as their identity clothing. Batik is one of the artistic treasures that has been preserved from generation to generation by the people of Indonesia. Batik art has received recognition in the world as a cultural heritage of the archipelago, through its illustrated cloth by making distinctive, traditional, pictorial patterns. Its use in everyday life is a way of respecting the nation's traditions and cultural heritage. We. The number of new fashion modes in people's clothing styles as time goes by changes the function and meaning that is valued by society. Therefore, the author intends to create an inspiring fashion video trend to inspire young people in Indonesia by updating their mindset regarding modern Batik and as a medium for inspiring them to wear batik clothing as an identity of the Indonesian nation that is best preserved.

Abstract

Salah satu produk dari IKM Keripik Rindy yang berlokasi di Kecamatan Ngantang Kabupaten Malang adalah kerupuk samiler, sejenis kerupuk yang terbuat dari singkong. Produk kerupuk samiler tersebut menghadapi permintaan yang paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan produk-produk lain seperti keripik pisang dan talas yang diproduksi oleh IKM tersebut. Salah satu masalah dari rangkaian proses produksi kerupuk samiler adalah proses pemarutan singkong. Pemarutan singkong sebelumnya dilakukan menggunakan mesin pemarut kelapa yang membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama untuk memarut singkong, memiliki suara yang bising dan hasil parutan yang mengotori ruangan. Oleh karena itu pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk melakukan rancang bangun mesin pemarut singkong yang dapat meningkatkan kapasitas produksi kerupuk samiler. Metode kegiatan pengabdian terdiri dari proses rancang bangun mesin pemarut singkong, pelatihan pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin dan penambahan peralatan proses lainnya untuk meningkatkan kapasitas produksi kerupuk samiler. Perancangan mesin pemarut singkong didasarkan pada kebutuhan dari produk terutama mempertimbangkan higienitas karena yang diproduksi adalah produk makanan. Pembuatan mesin diserahkan pada pihak ketiga. Mesin yang dihasilkan terbuat dari stainless steel yang sesuai untuk produk makanan, kecepatan empat kali lipat dari mesin parut yang digunakan sebelumnya dan memiliki suara yang tidak berisik serta dilengkapi pengaman pada mulut mesin. Pelatihan pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin dilakukan pada karyawan mitra dan kemudian dilakukan pendampingan agar penggunaan dan perawatan mesin dapat dilakukan dengan lancar dan aman. Peningkatan kapasitas pemarutan diimbangi dengan penambahan peralatan proses produksi kerupuk samiler lainnya. Namun keterbatasan ruang produksi hanya memungkinkan peningkatan kapasitas produksi kerupuk samiler dua kali lipat dari sebelumnya.

Abstract

Rumah Belajar Aqiel (RBA) located in Lowokwaru, Malang Municipality, East Java, submitted a proposal to create murals on the walls of their building with the assumption of raising awareness about cultural insights for their students as well as being an encouragement for the surrounding community, especially during post-pandemic conditions that resulted in many surrounding residents losing and reducing income. The proposal was then welcomed by the Visual Communication Design  study program, Faculty of Technology and Design, Universitas Ma Chung, Malang, East Java, by sending a team from the lecturers and assistance from related students. The steps carried out in this service activity consist of three stages, namely: (1) brainstorming with the study room, (2) the initial sketching and design process for the mural, and (3) the process of making murals in collaboration with students as well as the implementation of MBKM. Furthermore, the mural painting process was carried out by involving students within 2 weeks, because the work process could not be done immediately at once. There are several stages such as preliminary sketches, sketch supervision and painting. In the mural drawn there are elements of archipelago batik, floral doodles and also classic type fonts so that the design can last a long time. The results of the implementation of this community service have succeeded in achieving the initial goals that have been set and activities in accordance with the expected targets.
