Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure of the fairy tales "Hänsel und Gretel" and "Timun Emas" using Marquaβ's structural theory. The theory used in this study is Marquaβ's structural theory. The data sources for this study are the fairy tales "Hänsel und Gretel" by Brüder Grimm and "Timun Emas" by Rahma Asa. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results of this study are as follows: 1) both fairy tales have structures that follow the basic fairy tale pattern with a progressive plot containing conflict, peak tension, and a satisfying resolution. 2) the main characters in both stories have brave and clever characters even though Hänsel and Gretel appear as a duo with complex interactions, while Timun Emas is more prominent as a single, independent character. 3) the dominant setting is a forest which symbolizes trials and changes in fate, while the time setting is symbolic and supports the atmosphere of the story. 4) the point of view used is third person, providing a broad and objective narrative. This study enriches the study of fairy tale structural literature.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) method on improving German reading skills at the A2 level among twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. This study employed a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental method and a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research instrument consisted of a cloze test and essay questions. The sample of this study was class XII-2 with a total of 35 students. Based on the descriptive analysis, the average pretest score was 48.83 and the average posttest score was 86.2. The results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test showed that the tcount value was 26.023, while the ttable value at the significance level of 0.05 with df = 34 was 2.032. Since tcount > ttable (26,023 > 2,032), H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Furthermore, the N-Gain score was 73%, which is categorized as high. Thus, it can be concluded that the Think Pair Share method has a significant effect on improving German reading skills at the A2 level among twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar

Abstract

Student learning activeness is a fundamental aspect of the learning process because it reflects students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor involvement. In classroom practice, many students remain passive, reluctant to participate in discussions, hesitant to ask questions, and lacking confidence to express their opinions. These conditions indicate that the learning process has not fully encouraged active student participation. Therefore, appropriate and effective teaching strategies are required to enhance student learning activeness. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of teachers’ strategies in increasing student learning activeness through collaborative learning at SMK Swasta GKPI 2 Pematangsiantar. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation as the primary data collection techniques. The results reveal that systematically designed and well-managed collaborative learning significantly improves student learning activeness. Improvements are evident in students’ participation in group discussions, confidence in asking questions, ability to express opinions, and active involvement in group work. Teacher strategies such as forming heterogeneous groups, assigning clear roles to group members, managing group discussions, and implementing process-based assessment are proven to be effective in creating active and interactive learning environments. Therefore, collaborative learning can be considered an effective instructional strategy to enhance student learning activeness in vocational high schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas media Genially terhadap keterampilan menulis bahasa Jerman siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian Pre-eksperimental dan desain penelitian One Group Pretest-Posttest. Populasi penelitian seluruh siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar sebanyak 169 Orang. Berdasarkan Teknik Purposive Sampling yang artinya sederhana karena teknik pengambilan sampel yang dilakukan dengan pertimbangan tertentu dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI-8 berjumlah 32 Orang. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yaitu berupa essai tes dengan melakukan tahap pretest, treatment dengan menerapkan media Genially dan posttest maka dihasilkan data penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan yang telah dikemukakan diperoleh data nilai pretest dengan nilai rata- rata 33,18 yang tergolong dalam kategori rendah. Setelah diberikan perlakuan hasil belajar siswa meningkat, hal ini dapat di lihat dari rata-rata nilai posttest yaitu 82,03. Berdasarkan hasi uji hipotesis dengan taraf signifikan = 0,05 dan ttabel sebesar 1.69. Dengan demikian thitung >ttabel 38,823 > 1,69 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat efektivitas media Genially terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. Kemudian berdasarkan skor persen N-Gain yaitu 73,28 %. Yang artinya media Genially efektiv terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatihkan pendidik atau guru dalam menyusun instrument HOTS yang akan diujikan pada peserta didik dalam mengetahui tingkat kognitif peserta didik sesuai tuntutan pendidikan abad-21. Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan mitra sekolah dasar yaitu dilakukan dengan dua tahapan yaitu dengan sosialisasi tentang instrument HOTS dan workshop tentang pembuatan instrumen HOTS. Kegiatan pengabdian menggunakan metode pendidikan, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Subyek program pedampingan dan pelatihan ini adalah semua guru SD Negeri 091524 PNP Tonduhan Kabupaten Simalungun. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diikuti oleh 8 dosen dari disiplin ilmu yaitu Pendidikan IPA, Pendidikan Matematika, Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar dengan anggota mahasiswa 2 orang. Respon guru dalam penyusunan instrumen HOTS dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif melalui hasil angket. Disimpulkan bahwa dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini guru terampil dalam menyusun instrument HOTS dengan jumlah instrument 5 soal untuk analisis, 5 soal pada evaluasi, dan 5 soal pada mencipta. Tingkat kepuasan guru dalam penyusunan instrument HOTS yaitu 87,28% dengan kriteria sangat baik.

Abstract

This study discusses the meaning of metaphors found in Friedrich Schiller's poem An die Freude. This study uses qualitative descriptive techniques to describe the types of metaphor data found. The purpose of this study is to identify and classify: the meanings of metaphors 1) structural 2) orientational and 3) ontological using Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory. The results show that there are 24 structural metaphor meanings, 16 orientational metaphor meanings, and 41 ontological metaphor meanings. Thus, it can be concluded that ontological metaphor meanings are the most frequently found in Friedrich Schiller's poem An die Freude.
