Abstract

One effort to get teachers who are competent in their fields is to conduct a teacher recruitment process based on four teacher competencies, namely personal, social, pedagogic, and professional competencies. However, the obstacle of the teacher recruitment process that often done is the subjectivity of decision-making. One way to overcome subjectivity in teacher recruitment is by using tahani fuzzy logic. For this reason, this study aims to determine the implementation of tahani fuzzy logic in the supporting system of decision making for teacher admissions based on the results of the four teacher competency tests. This research consists of three stages. The first stage is determining the function of the degree of membership from the value of personal, social, pedagogical, and professional competencies. The second step is designing the tahani fuzzification program using Microsoft Excel. The third stage is implementing the fuzzy tahani program that successfully created for the decision to make admissions. The results showed that teacher acceptance decision making using tahani fuzzy logic was better than just using an average value. Because tahani fuzzy logic considers various criteria, while the average only considers one criterion that has a high value.

Abstract

One of the problems faced by student teachers is the low level of pedagogical and professional competence. To overcome this problem, one must find out the teacher's perception of these two competencies. Therefore, this research aims to analyze pre-service teachers' perceptions regarding the pedagogical and professional competence of students in the pre-service teacher professional education study program at the Islamic University of Malang. This type of research is quantitative research with a survey approach. This research population was conducted in 66 schools. The research sample consisted of 120 civil service teachers who assessed Teacher Professional Education (PPG) students who carried out practical learning activities. This research instrument is a questionnaire to determine the teacher's perception of students' pedagogical and professional competence, consisting of 64 valid and reliable statements. The results of filling out the questionnaire were analyzed by determining the average. The research results show that the average teacher's perception of prospective teacher students' pedagogical and professional competence is 4.61 and 4.66, which means very good. It is concluded that prospective teacher students have excellent pedagogical and professional competencies for each study program in Teacher Professional Education. Apart from that, the implications of the results of this research can be used by lecturers to improve professional and pedagogical competency indicators, which, on average, are still low through classroom learning.

Abstract

Preliminary research results show that many students still experience errors in determining the remainder of the distribution of exponential numbers. This error is important for further analysis. Therefore, this study aims to identify student errors in determining the remainder of the division of exponential numbers. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study consisted of 4 students from the mathematics education study program. The data collected in this study consisted of the results of the subject's work and transcripts of interviews with the subject. Analysis of the results of the subject's work was carried out descriptively to determine the characteristics of the errors. Analysis of the transcripts of the interview results was carried out by coding the words that indicated the causes of misunderstandings. The results showed that the misunderstanding of the concept in determining the remainder of the division of exponential numbers by integers consisted of errors in changing the exponential form into the sum of exponential numbers, errors in translating exponential numbers, errors using modulo congruence, and errors in dividing the sum of exponential numbers. The factor that causes this misunderstanding in general is a lack of understanding of the basics of operations on exponential numbers and modulo properties.

Abstract

The problem that arises from online learning is decreased learning outcomes or low ability in mathematics. This problem can be overcome by looking for various variables in online learning. Researchers suspect that this mathematical disposition influences basic mathematical abilities. Thus, the purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of mathematical disposition on basic mathematical abilities in online learning. This type of research is quantitative research with a comparative causal approach. The sample of this research is 65 prospective mathematics teacher students at the Islamic University of Malang. The research data is in the form of the results of filling out the mathematical disposition questionnaire and the results of working on basic math skills questions. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire and questions. The questionnaire and questions used have met valid and reliable criteria. The data analysis technique used in this study is a simple correlation and regression analysis with the help of SPSS. The results showed that mathematical disposition (self-confidence, creativity, persistence, curiosity, positive values, and respect) had a positive effect on basic mathematical abilities by 14.5%. From the research results, it can be concluded that the metaphysical disposition variable is positively correlated with the mathematical basic ability variable. The results of the study also show that mathematical disposition has a positive effect on basic mathematical abilities during online learning. The important mathematical disposition components to pay attention to during online learning are creativity, persistence, curiosity, positive value, and respect for mathematics. These components are the benchmarks for the influence of mathematical disposition on basic mathematical abilities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Mathematical representation ability is essential for students, but many students still need to be able to solve mathematical problems with various mathematical representation abilities. This research is narrative research with a qualitativeapproach to describe the problems of students' mathematical representation abilities in terms of field-dependent and field-independent cognitive styles on the set topic. A total of 4 students, based on the GEFT test and the results of the subject teacher's directions, tended to field-dependent and fieldindependent cognitive styles. The instruments used in this study were the GEFT test, questions of representation ability, and interview guidelines. The results of the data analysis show that the mathematical representation abilities of students with a field-dependent cognitive style can be represented with several models. In contrast, the mathematical representation abilities of students with a field-independent cognitive style can represent all indicators. Based on these conditions, the teacher can plan a differentiated lesson in the learning process by paying attention to the differences in students' cognitive styles.
