Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the RTRW inconsistency index by analyzing the implementation of the Siak District Settlement RTRW, which is known from the comparison between land use and the Siak District RTRW. The land use map is generated from the SAS Planet high-resolution mind, and the settlement spatial plan map is generated from the 2020–2040 RTRW in Siak District. In addition, to find out the Siak District Settlement Spatial Plan based on disaster-prone areas, a flood disaster-prone analysis was carried out using the "weighted and scoring" method, which was then combined with the Siak District Settlement Spatial Plan Map to evaluate the suitability of settlement planning in Siak District, whether to avoid flood-prone areas or not. The results show that 33.0 percent of settlement land use is not in accordance with the regional spatial plan, and 48 percent of settlement planning is not suitable because it is in a very flood-prone area. Therefore, it is necessary for the Siak district government policy to evaluate the RTRW to be more consistent, pay attention to disaster-prone areas, and implement enforcement for spatial violators.

Abstract

Learning in the 21st century is different from learning in the past. Technological advances are growing rapidly in various areas of life, including education. With this change, it gives hope to be able to realize the nation's ideals (BNSP, 2010). The aim of this research is to see the effectiveness of using E-Comic in learning disaster mitigation material in classes XI IPS 1 and XI IPS II. The results of this research obtained an experimental pre-test score of 53.40, a post-test score of 87.10, while the control class had a pre-test score of 51.87 and a post-test score of 61.53. There was a significant increase in the Pre-Test and Posttest of the Control Experiment Class. This shows that E-Comic media can be used by educators as a learning medium in the process of learning activities at school to improve learning outcomes, increase student understanding and also be able to reduce student boredom if they only use the lecture method. Based on the response from educators, the E-Comic media developed in this research responded very well.

Abstract

Floods are the most common natural disasters in Indonesia and have enormous potential. This study aims to determine the flood hazard zone and regional arrangement in the Tarusan Watershed, South Pesisir Regency. To determine the flood hazard zone using the GIS approach. The indicators used to determine flood hazard are slope, rainfall, soil type, landform, geology, and land use. Determine the direction of regional arrangement with an Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) approach. The results showed that the high flood hazard zone in the Tarusan watershed is about 22% of the total area, the medium index is around 58%, and the low flood hazard index is 20%. The high - hazard zone of flood disasters in the study area is caused by high rainfall and topographic conditions of the Tarusan Watershed. The main priority in the management of flood - hazard areas in the Tarusan Watershed is to find economic alternatives to reduce forest destruction. Increasing the economic value of the community can lead to reduced community activities in carrying out land conversion, especially in forest areas.

Abstract

Illegal gold mining in the Anahoni River area, Kaiely Bay, Maluku, intensifies mercury pollution, posing grave environmental and health risks. Statistical analyses reveal a significant correlation between illegal mining and escalating mercury levels, necessitating urgent intervention. Environmental impacts include biomagnification in fish, affecting indigenous communities dependent on these resources. Health risks encompass neurological, reproductive, and respiratory implications, warranting targeted public health interventions. Examining the broader context, the global dimension of mercury pollution underscores the interconnected nature of the issue, requiring collaborative efforts. The toxicological aspects of mercury and its biogeochemical cycling inform potential mitigation strategies. Methodologically, systematic literature reviews, field investigations, and socio-economic assessments provide a holistic understanding of mercury contamination. Results highlight alarming mercury concentrations, with significant correlations between mercury levels, deforestation, and fish abundance, emphasizing the need for evidence-based policy decisions. Human health implications are evident through a positive correlation between mercury concentrations in river water and human hair samples, emphasizing the direct link between environmental exposure and health risks. Environmental impacts extend beyond human health, affecting ecosystems and necessitating global collaboration. The study underscores the importance of comprehensive policy frameworks, international collaborations, and community engagement in addressing the socio-economic roots of illegal gold mining. Mitigation strategies encompass regulations, sustainable practices, alternative technologies, and community-based initiatives. This review contributes to a nuanced understanding of mercury pollution in the Anahoni River, providing insights into the interconnected challenges and opportunities for sustainable solutions within a concise framework.
