Abstract

History education at the high school level has a strategic role in building historical awareness, national identity, and student character. This article discusses the importance of integrating local and national history as a holistic approach to history learning to create relevant, meaningful, and inclusive learning. Using a descriptive qualitative method based on literature studies, this study identifies the role of local history as a complement to the national narrative, as well as the challenges faced in its implementation, such as curriculum limitations, lack of supporting resources, and lack of teacher training. The resource-based learning model and the environmental approach as a history laboratory are effective strategies in supporting this integration. The results of the study show that the integration of local and national history can enrich history learning, strengthen students' awareness of local and national identity, and support the development of critical and historical thinking skills. This integration not only improves the quality of history learning but also contributes to the formation of a critical, caring, and responsible young generation.

Abstract

Srivijaya was the largest maritime kingdom in Southeast Asia that reached its peak in the 7th to 13th centuries AD. Its strategic position on international trade routes made it a center of economic and cultural exchange connecting East Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East. One of the evidences of Srivijaya's trade and cultural acculturation traces can be found on the Musi River, which functioned as the main route for distributing trade goods. This study uses historical methods, including heuristics (collection of sources), source criticism, interpretation, and historiography, to analyze archaeological findings in the form of ceramics and ancient money found in the Musi River, Palembang. The results of the study show that the ceramics found in the Musi River, Palembang come from various dynasties in China, such as the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), Song (960–1279 AD), and Yuan (1271–1368 AD), indicating close trade relations between Srivijaya and China. In addition, the discovery of ancient currencies, including gold, silver, and copper coins from local and Chinese sources, reveals that Srivijaya already had a currency-based economic system in its trade transactions. Through source criticism and analysis, it was found that the flow of trade on the Musi River not only had an impact on the economic development of Srivijaya, but also influenced the social and cultural aspects of its people, such as in art, belief systems, and daily life patterns. This study confirms that Srivijaya was not only a regional trade center, but also an important node in the global trade network that accelerated the process of cultural acculturation. Using historical methods, this study provides deeper insight into the dynamics of Srivijaya trade and culture, and enriches understanding of the role of the Palembang Musi River in the maritime history of the archipelago.

Abstract

This study discusses the integration of digital-based local history in history learning in Palembang high schools with a focus on the readiness and obstacles faced by teachers. Digital transformation in history education is expected to improve students' understanding of local history and adapt the learning process to technological developments. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection methods through interviews, observations, and distributing questionnaires to history teachers in several high schools in Palembang. The results of the study show that most teachers are aware of the importance of implementing digital technology in history learning, but there are still differences in their level of readiness. Factors that support teacher readiness include basic skills in using technology and school support. Meanwhile, the main obstacles faced include limited technological infrastructure, lack of technical training, minimal digital learning resources based on local history, and limited time in implementing the curriculum. In addition, resistance to changes in learning methods is also a challenge in this integration process. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need to improve teachers' digital competence through continuous training, development of adequate digital resources, and support from schools and related stakeholders. With these steps, digital-based local history integration can be an effective strategy in improving students' historical literacy and strengthening their awareness of local history.

The data collection techniques used were observation, questionnaire and written test. The results showed that the interactive History teaching materials were able to improve students' cultural understanding. obtained a significance value (p-value) of 0.001 and 0.000, which are both smaller than the significant level of 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05 and 0.000 < 0.05). Abstract

Sebelas Maret University Surakarta declared itself a Pancasila Fortress Campus, one of its objectives being to prevent the recurrence of events that undermined the Pancasila ideology in the past, including radicalism and intolerance; this was announced when UNS commemorated Pancasila Day on 1 October 2018. As a consequence of this declaration, UNS has constructed six places of worship located in a single area, namely: Mosques, Catholic churches, Christian churches, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Chinese temples. This study uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques using document studies or documentation, namely from books and articles related to the challenges of Pancasila as the ideology and foundation of the Republic of Indonesia.  In efforts to strengthen itself as a Pancasila Fortress Campus, there are several programs and activities that have been and continue to be implemented, including Pancasila Education lectures; Citizenship Education; and the establishment of the Pancasila Implementation Study Centre (PSPP). The challenges faced by UNS as a Pancasila Fortress Campus include individualism, market liberalism, radicalism, religious fundamentalism; the weakening of the practice and actualisation of Pancasila; and the lack of Pancasila role models.
