Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia in 2045 will have a demographic bonus with a population structure of 70% in the productive age group (15-64 years). One of the biggest contributors is the province of West Java. The young generation of West Java is recognized by UNESCO by making the West Java Capital City, Bandung, a creative city. Bandung people's creativity is used as a provision for Bandung's highest export commodity, textiles, to increase its productivity. Textile productivity is poured by accommodating textile players to sell textiles, creating textile ideas, creating textile products, and introducing textile products. The four functions were designed to be designed in the Cigondewah Textile Area. The Cigondewah textile area is listed in the Bandung City RTRW as a textile center. The area is designed along Jalan Cigondewah Kidul with a length of 250 m. The area along Jalan Cigondewah Kidul was designed with output in the form of guidelines for facade improvement and remapping of functions along Jalan Cigondewah Kidul. Along Jalan Cigondewah Kidul, a site of 14,000 m2 of land was chosen to be built for a creative center for textiles consisting of buying and selling functions, collaboration space, exhibition space and workshop space. There are several issues in the design of the Cigondewah Textile Area. that is, the influence of the region to support the City of Bandung as a Creative City, the carrying capacity of the Region to the productivity of textiles, and to create a space that is comfortable to users. The above issue was initiated to be solved using an organic architecture approach that is dynamic and novelty. The nature of organic architecture was conceived to resolve the issue adaptively by using modular construction technology to increase efficiency. Abstract

Nipa as thatch roofing material originates from leaves of nipa palm tree (Nypa fruticans). Although nipa has a long history in Southeast Asia, it has gradually been replaced by other materials. Nature school (sekolah alam), a relatively new education model established in Indonesia in 1998, offer a different approach to school facilities, one of which is the use of open-air classroom buildings. Balikpapan Nature School, located in island of Borneo, is one of many institutions developing the nature-based school concept. The school has adopted the Dayak Kenyah longhouse design, incorporating nipa thatch roofing in its buildings. However, one of the buildings has had its nipa roofing replaced with bitumen. This research investigates the heat gain characteristics of nipa roofing as a sustainable material in comparison to bitumen roofing. Analysis of the observational data using paired t-test shows a significant difference, with nipa roofing effectively reducing heat gain. These supports findings support previous studies that have identified nipa as an environmentally friendly material capable of providing better thermal comfort in humid tropical climates.

Abstract

Bamboo is very abundant in the Gayo Highlands, but locals mostly use it for simple things like temporary shelters in rice fields and fences around houses. In the past, before modern materials became widely available, bamboo played a significant role in traditional Gayo buildings, both structurally and culturally. A three-day bamboo workshop was held to revive bamboo as a versatile, sustainable building material for modern architecture, while preserving its cultural significance. The workshop had two main goals: teaching how bamboo can work with modern materials like steel and cement, and showing new designs for tourism buildings using bamboo. Participants learned how to process bamboo, connect pieces, and preserve it. They also created new building ideas combining bamboo with other materials. The workshop helped the community understand bamboos environmental, cultural, and economic importance, supporting sustainable tourism and contributing to global goals for sustainable cities and responsible use of resources.

Abstract

The construction sector faces increasing pressure to reduce energy consumption and embodied carbon, encouraging the development of sustainable building components based on industrial waste. This study evaluates the mechanical and thermal performance of modular wall systems developed from fly ash–clay composites as part of a 2025 research downstreaming program for Micro House Net Zero Energy (NZE) implementation. An applied experimental and descriptive–evaluative method was employed. Mechanical performance was assessed through compressive strength testing, showing values ranging from 7.8–9.5 MPa, which meet the requirements for low-rise residential buildings. Thermal performance evaluation indicates that the modular wall system achieves a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.45–0.52 W/mK, demonstrating improved heat resistance compared to conventional masonry walls. The modular configuration also reduced construction time by approximately 25–30% compared to conventional brickwork. These results confirm that fly ash–clay modular walls provide adequate structural capacity, enhanced thermal performance, and construction efficiency, supporting their application in Micro House NZE systems and strengthening the industrial readiness of waste-based construction materialsKeyword: Modular wall, fly ash–clay, mechanical performance, thermal performance, net zero energy housingy

Abstract

To develop Indonesia's tourism industry, the government of the Republic of Indonesia has made the tourism industry a leading sector that can help boost Indonesia's economy. The government, especially West Java Province, focuses on developing the tourism industry in West Java by making big plans for world-class tourist destinations in West Java Province. To support this plan, it is necessary to get good facilities and infrastructure, one of which is accommodation facilities (resort hotels) which become a place for domestic or foreign tourists to stay. An increase in the number of tourists staying in West Java was 6.95% in 2016 and 2017, so it must be accompanied by an increase in the number of lodging accommodation The aim and purpose of the design of the Green Hotel Resort are to accommodate the increasing number of tourists who will stay in West Java and at the same time supporting the West Java Provincial Government's plans to create friendly tourist destinations. So that the theme of designing Green Hotel Resort is green architecture, which is expected to reduce environmental damage due to tourism and accommodation, due to the increase in the number of tourists to West Java Province. The design produced in this design is a hotel resort design that can maximize the potential in the site, that it can reduce energy use in buildings. This hotel resort not only functions as an accommodation facility, but is also equipped with a vehicle for educational tours of the craft and the unique culture of Tasikmalaya.

Abstract

Abstract: The Umang area in the Gayo highlands, Aceh, is a cultural landscape that strongly indicates traces of prehistoric (megalithic) civilization of the Gayo people. This study aims to examine the relationship between geological conditions, landscape elements, and human intervention through the analysis of archaeological features and a landscape architecture approach. The research method was carried out through field observations of site locations, spatial orientation, and symbolic motifs found in the area. The results show a series of archaeological features with a linear structure from the valley to the highlands, consisting of split stone platforms in low elevation areas and slate along the path to the mountains. The slate motifs in the form of various circular patterns indicate symbolic and ritual functions in the area. The absence of traces of permanent habitation, along with the geological conditions of steep slopes and traces of large landslides on the northern side of the area, strengthens the hypothesis that Umang was a ritual site or pilgrimage route, not a residential area. The past community is thought to have been aware of the dangers of natural disasters and created patterns of adaptation to their settlement space. Cosmological understanding is evident in the slate path that climbs from East to West towards the sacred mountain. From a landscape architecture perspective, the lower courtyard functions as a communal space, while the slate path becomes a spiritual transitional space. Keywords: Gayo, Prehistory, landscape archaeology, cosmology, ritual sites.
