Abstract

This study investigates whether implementing the PQRST technique can improve students' reading abilities at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. Through careful observation and measurement, it was noted that students' comprehension showed a substantial improvement. Specifically, their average score rose significantly from 25.6 to 89.7. This outcome strongly suggests that employing the PQRST technique is highly effective in enhancing students' reading comprehension levels. These findings underscore the technique's practical value in educational settings, emphasizing its potential to positively impact student learning outcomes and academic performance in reading comprehension at the junior high school level.Keyword: PQRST Technique, Reading Ability, Classroom Action Research

Abstract

This research evaluates the efficacy of the discovery learning method in enhancing reading comprehension for tenth-grade students at SMK Mandiri Pontianak in the academic year 2023/2024. Employing a pre-experimental design, the sample for this study was chosen from the TKJ A class using cluster random sampling. The data collection process included both pre-tests and post-tests. Findings indicated a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension through the implementation of the discovery learning method, evident in the transition from a pre-test score of 61 (averaged) to a post-test score of 83 (excellent Statistical analysis through the t-test validated a noteworthy distinction (a < 0.05), affirming the dismissal of the null hypothesis (H0). This signifies a statistically significant enhancement in reading comprehension following the implementation of the discovery learning method.

Abstract

English lessons are not compulsory in public elementary schools. It makes English a challenge for students in Indonesia's foreign language communication from an early age. This study aimed to find student worksheets and fun learning strategies, including singing and mentoring activities, to be implemented in teaching English to students. This research includes case study research. This study used a sampling technique to select five fifth-grade students who participated in this program. Data collection was carried out using participant observation techniques, and the documents included were student worksheets, photos, and activity videos. Data analysis techniques using thematic analysis techniques. The study results show that student worksheets and fun learning strategies can help students in English Village learn English through all teaching stages. It was concluded that alternative learning in the form of English Village using student worksheets and fun learning strategies had been proven to help students learn English by providing brief material that is clear and easy to understand.

Abstract

Strategi merukana kunci utama dalam mendirikan sebuah usaha, strategi sendiri memiliki banyak cara sehingga dapat terlaksana dengan baik efektif dan efesien. Penelitian merupakan penelitian lapangan dengan sifat deskriptif mencari data-data pada pelaku usaha di Gading Rejo Pringsewu terkait upaya maupun strategi yang dilakukan dalam meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan strategi yang digunakan itu mencangkup strategi produk, harga, promosi, distribusi. Dalam menjalan semua strategi ini kepercayaan merupakan point penting pelaku usaha terhadap patner usaha, karena dengan adanya kepercayaan maka usaha dapat terus berjalan.Kata kunci: Strategi Pemasaran, UMKM, Kepercayaan pengusaha

Abstract

The spread of corona virus in 2020 has an impact on various sectors in Indonesia including the world of education so that the learning system is changed to online based. Essay writing class in one of the courses that must be carried out online using an autonomous learning approach. Therefore, the purposes of this study were to know the students’ perception and the impact of the implementation of online autonomous learning in essay writing class. This research was conducted in quantitative and qualitative method. The participants in this study consisted of 36 second semester students of English education study program IKIP-PGRI Pontianak who were selected purposively. The data was obtained from questionnaire which was then randomly selected for online interview. The data was also enrich by document in the form of students’ score. The result of the study showed that the implementation of online autonomous learning is not really significant in helping students to understand materials, organize ideas or topics, helping them to be independent learner, and improving vocabulary on essay writing class. Besides, most of the students preferred face-to-face class where the teachers could guide them directly. Some students also find it difficult to find stable network. Then, the lack of detailed explanations and many assignments from the teacher make students reluctant to join the class.

Abstract

True and false is the implementation of game that can be played in groups or individually which is students answer questions by answering True or False. This research aimed to determine the implementation of true and false game in English Village of Parit Baru and the effects of implementation true and false game in studi independen at English Village of Parit Baru. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. The researcher used a interviews, questionnaire, observation and document as tools of data collection. The subject of this research was student at English Village of Parit Baru. The researcher used data reduction, data display and draw a conclusion to analyze the data. The results of this research showed that the implementation true and false game was successfully regarded. Although it has only been applied a few times and we don’t know the result of students learning outcomes accurately but we know that students are have fun, enjoy learning and increase students enthusiasm. This research has the potential to be further developed as a classroom action research.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis praktik pengajaran Bahasa Inggris dalam implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di SMP Negeri 1 Toho serta mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi oleh para guru. Dengan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara terhadap tiga guru, termasuk koordinator kurikulum dan dua guru Bahasa Inggris, serta observasi di kelas VII-C, VIII-A, dan IX-C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru telah menerapkan strategi pembelajaran seperti pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan integrasi teknologi, sejalan dengan prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka yang menekankan pembelajaran berpusat pada siswa dan diferensiasi. Namun, tantangan yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan sumber daya dan kesiapan guru dalam mengadopsi metode pembelajaran baru. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi bagi pendidik dan pemangku kepentingan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggris di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama. Kata kunci: Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris, Kurikulum Merdeka, Sekolah Menengah Pertama, Strategi Pembelajaran, Implementasi. Abstract This study investigates the implementation of English teaching practices under the Kurikulum Merdeka in SMP Negeri 1 Toho and identifies challenges encountered by educators. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations and interviews with three teachers, including a kurikulum coordinator and two English instructors. Classroom observations were conducted in classes VII-C, VIII-A, and IX-C, each comprising 30–34 students. Findings reveal that teachers have adopted strategies consistent with Kurikulum Merdeka principles, such as project-based learning and technology integration. However, challenges persist, notably limited resources and the need for enhanced teacher preparedness in adopting new pedagogical methods. The study recommends targeted professional development and resource allocation to bolster the effective implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka in English instruction at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This research aims to assess English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching practices in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and identify challenges faced by teachers in applying it at the secondary school level. The research employed a case study approach with interviews as the data collection instrument, involving one curriculum teacher and one English teacher at SMPS PGRI 1 Sungai Raya Kepulauan. The findings show that teachers have developed a basic understanding of the curriculum that allows them to apply it, although not comprehensively. Teachers adopt student-centered approaches and integrate technology in the classroom, aligning with the core principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. The main challenges identified include the lack of specific training related to curriculum implementation, difficulties integrating existing pedagogical approaches with the demands of the new curriculum, and student adaptation to new learning methods. Despite facing challenges, teachers have demonstrated resilience and adaptability in implementing the curriculum relatively effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the gaps and needs in implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka in English language teaching at the senior high school level. A qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal several key gaps, including limited learning facilities, insufficient teacher understanding of the curriculum and differentiated assessment, low student engagement and readiness, and challenges in aligning assessments with Learning Outcomes. Additionally, the use of technology and teacher training remain suboptimal. This study recommends targeted professional development, improved access to learning resources, and stronger institutional support to ensure the effective implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of professional development in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMAS Tunas Bhakti Pontianak. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through interviews with an English teacher and the Vice Principal for Curriculum, as well as classroom and training observations. Thematic analysis revealed that professional development improves teachers’ ability to design teaching tools, apply student-centered methods, and implement project-based learning. Participation in training and learning communities (Kombel) strengthened pedagogical skills and collaboration. Despite facing limited resources and time constraints, teachers showed increased readiness and adaptability in implementing the curriculum. The findings emphasize the importance of sustainable, relevant, and practical training programs to ensure successful curriculum implementation.
