Abstract

The transition from childhood to adulthood known as puberty is a transformative phase marked by the growth of reproductive organs, which impacts physical and mental evolution, and changes in social roles. One of the major physiological changes in the reproductive organs during this period is the onset of menstruation. At the time of menstruation until menstruation begins, women generally experience several symptoms. This is called premenstrual syndrome, which occurs cyclically 7-10 days before menstruation and disappears 4 days after menstruation. The main cause behind PMS is hormonal instability, especially the disharmony between estrogen and progesterone, and variations in serotonin levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the dominant factors that influence Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) in female students at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in Purwokerto. This type of research is quantitative research using a descriptive research method with a cross-sectional research design, because this research was conducted by means of an approach, observation or data collection at one time. The research sample involved a group of 76 female adolescents aged 15 to 18 years. Various questionnaires were used for data collection, such as SPAF, PSS, GPA, and PSQI. Logistic regression test was used for data analysis. The results showed a significant p value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a relationship between. The results showed that students with poor sleep quality had a 9 times higher risk of developing PMS than students with good sleep quality, even after considering factors such as stress levels and physical activity (p value = 0.001; OR = 9.110; 95% CI = 2.601-31.913).

Abstract

This case study report highlights the issue of pressure ulcers, which pose a significant challenge in nursing care, especially for elderly people with limited mobility. At the Iryou Houlin Aiwa Kai Kaigo Roujin Hoken Shisetsu Ikeda En facility in Japan, approximately 30% of the elderly population suffer from pressure sores caused by prolonged pressure that inhibits blood flow and causes tissue damage. This study aims to describe comprehensive nursing care for patients with skin integrity disorders, from assessment to evaluation. Through a case study method on Mrs. K (72 years old) with a medical diagnosis of ischemic stroke, a pressure ulcer measuring ±4x3 cm was found in the sacrum area, accompanied by necrotic tissue, serous exudate, and pain. The main nursing diagnosis established was skin integrity impairment related to prolonged pressure. The interventions implemented included aseptic wound care and repositioning every two hours to distribute pressure on the body. After three days of treatment, the evaluation results showed improvement in tissue integrity, marked by reduced pain and improved granulation, although the wound had not yet completely closed. This study concluded that consistency in wound care and repositioning scheduling is crucial to prevent worsening of pressure ulcer conditions in long-term bedridden patients.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the major public health problems in Indonesia, with incidence rates continuing to rise each year, including in Banyumas Regency. A preliminary survey conducted in Sudimara Village, Cilongok District, recorded 13 cases of breast cancer during the 2022–2024 period. However, the level of knowledge among community members, particularly PKK women’s groups, regarding early detection of breast cancer through mammography remains relatively low. This situation indicates the need for structured educational interventions to improve awareness and understanding. This Community Service Program (PkM) was aimed at increasing the knowledge of PKK women about the importance of mammography as an early breast cancer screening effort. The program was implemented through two sessions consisting of several activities, including a pre-test, interactive lectures, group discussions, educational video screenings, leaflet distribution, and a post-test to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Out of 30 registered participants, 24 fully attended all sessions until the final stage. The pre-test results showed an average knowledge score of 53, with the majority of participants (62.5%) categorized as having low knowledge. After the educational sessions, the average post-test score increased significantly to 88, with most participants (87.5%) classified as having good knowledge. These findings confirm that health education using participatory approaches and varied media is effective in improving PKK women’s knowledge of early breast cancer detection. Furthermore, this activity provides practical evidence that community-based educational interventions can serve as a strategic model for empowering women’s groups to support breast cancer prevention efforts at the community level.
