Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to acquire data and information regarding the reading and writing competencies of college students in the German language, using Google Classroom as a teaching medium. The design employed in this study is a mixed methods approach. The research was conducted within the German Language Education Program, Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Language and Literature, Universitas Negeri Makassar, involving 30 fourth-semester students as the research sample. Qualitative data were obtained through participatory observation by the researcher, who observed the activities of German language learning using Google Classroom. Meanwhile, quantitative data were obtained from the average reading and writing competence test scores in the German language and t-test results. The results of participatory observation indicate that Google Classroom serves as a platform and learning space and indirectly as a tool for students to download and access course materials and complete quizzes, thereby enhancing language competency. Indirectly, this platform has become a supportive companion for students learning the German language. The quantitative data analysis revealed that students' average reading competency score is 88.8, while the writing competency score is 85.2. The t-test results also indicate that the calculated t-value for reading competency (10.975) and writing competency (8.292) is greater than the tabulated t-table (1.714). This disparity suggests that Google Classroom effectively assesses the exploration of reading and writing competencies in the German language among students. Keywords: Teaching German, Reading Competence, Writing Competence, Google Classroom

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to obtain data and information related to lecturer communication patterns in German competence teaching. The course is focused on German language competence, consisting of four competencies: reading (Lesen), listening (Hören), writing (Schreiben), and speaking (Sprechen). The research was conducted in the German Language Education Study Program at the Faculty of Language and Literature. The results showed that the communication patterns used by lecturers in German competence teaching included as many as 291 communication patterns with details: primary communication patterns as many as 91 (verbal as many as 69 and nonverbal as many as 22), secondary communication patterns as many as 69, interpersonal communication patterns as many as 20, linear communication patterns as many as 49, and circular communication patterns as many as 61. The use of communication patterns by lecturers in German competence teaching from the highest to the lowest levels is primary communication patterns (31%), secondary communication patterns (24%), circular communication patterns (21%), linear communication patterns (17%), and interpersonal communication patterns (7%).

Abstract

Abstract. This research is a Quasi Experimental  research with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of Crosswod Puzzle  media  in vocabulary mastery (mufradat) in grade VII students of MTsS Sheikh Yusuf Gowa. The independent variable in this study is the use of Crossword Puzzle media  and the bound variable is vocabulary mastery (mufradat). The population in this study is grade VII students consisting of 2 classes. The samples in this study are students of class VII A as an experimental class with a total of 26 students and class VII B as a control class with a total of 22 students with a sampling technique using Total Sampling. The data from this study was obtained by providing pre-test  and  post-test. The average score of students obtained from the control class after doing the post-test was 64.09 and the average score obtained from the experimental class after doing the post-test was 85.58. So that between the control class and the experimental class, after the results of the calculation of the hypothesis test at a significant level of 0.05, a significant value of 0.001 < 0.05 was obtained, which showed that the use of Crossword Puzzle media  was effective on the mastery of Arabic vocabulary (mufradat) of grade VII MTsS students Sheikh Yusuf Gowa.Keywords: Effectiveness, Crossword Puzzle media, vocabulary mastery (mufradat)

Abstract

Abstract. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. This research aims to determine the level of mastery of German vocabulary in class XI SMA Negeri 8 Gowa and the factors that influence it. The population in this study were all students in class XI IPS 1, IPS 2, and IPS 3, SMA Negeri 8 Gowa.  The sample in this study was class XI IPS 1 students, totaling 32 students using random sampling techniques. The data of this research was obtained from language vocabulary mastery tests and questionnaires. Technique analysisof the data was carried out using percentage techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the German vocabulary mastery of Class XI students at SMA Negeri 8 Gowa was in the sufficient category (66%). Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to ascertain the impact of communication patterns and leadership styles on enhancing employee performance. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Language and Literature, Makassar State University. This research is a qualitative study that employs questionnaires and interviews as data collection techniques. The research data were analyzed using the Miles and Hubermann model, encompassing data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that leaders at the Faculty of Language and Literature, Makassar State University, employed various communication strategies. In general, the communication patterns used by leaders encompass vertical, horizontal, and diagonal communication patterns among leaders, leaders to subordinates, and subordinates to leaders. The data indicates that persuasive, participatory, listening, and transformational communication styles exert a considerable and beneficial influence on employee performance. The combination of leadership communication patterns and styles positively impacts employee performance, including in the processes of discussing and planning a work program, as well as in coordination and decision-making. Positive relationships between leaders and employees are associated with a higher employee work ethic. It can be surmised that leadership communication patterns and styles have a markedly beneficial effect on employee performance and can improve their work performance. The barriers to the interaction between leaders and employees are differences in perception, organizational culture, use of technology, and lack of communication skills. Keywords: Leadership Communication Patterns, Employee Performance, Organizational Communication, Communication Barriers

Abstract

Penelitian ini menginvestigasi implementasi pembelajaran interkultural dalamkonteks pengajaran bahasa dan budaya Tiongkok di kelas Mandarin, dengan fokus padaperkembangan terkini dalam lima tahun terakhir. Mengingat peningkatan signifikan dalamkebutuhan global akan kompetensi interkultural, studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisisefektivitas dan tantangan dalam mengintegrasikan elemen budaya Tiongkok ke dalampembelajaran bahasa MandarinSeiring dengan meningkatnya hubungan antara Indonesia dan Tiongkok,pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di Indonesia semakin penting. Artikel ini membahasbagaimana pembelajaran bahasa dan budaya Tiongkok dapat diterapkan di kelas Mandarin.Ini berfokus pada teknik pengajaran yang efektif, masalah yang dihadapi, dan keuntunganbagi siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, yangmengumpulkan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Hasilnyamenunjukkan bahwa siswa dapat memperoleh keterampilan bahasa yang lebih baik, lebihmemahami budaya setempat, dan lebih termotivasi untuk belajar. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan studi yang menggunakan metode campuran (mixed method) dengan menggunakan metode concurrent transformative strategy. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan data dan informasi terkait impelementasi metode Total Physical Response (TPR) dalam keterampilan berbiacara bahasa asing. Penelitian dilakukan di Fakultas Bahasa dan Sastra dengan sampel penelitian seluruh mahasiswa semester III tahun akademik 2024/2025 di Program Studi Pendidikan bahasa Jerman, Arab dan Mandarin. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasi observasi partisipatif dan tes keterampilan berbicara bahasa Jerman, Arab dan Mandarin pada level dasar (beginner). Data kauntitatif pada penelitian ini diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan IBM SPSS 24, sementara data kualitatif dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri atas empat tahap utama yakni pengumpulan data (data collection), reduksi data (data reduction), penyajian data (data display) dan perumusan kesimpulan/verifikasi (conclusion drawing/verification). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode TPR dalam keterapilan berbicara bahasa asing memiliki lima dampak positif, diantaranya: (1) menghilangkan ketegangan/kecanggungan mahasiswa dalam berbicara; (2) meningkatkan kepercayaan diri mahasiswa dalam berbahassa asing; (3) terciptanya suasana pembelajaran yang menyenangkan; (4) memudahkan mahasiswa dalam mengingat dan menguasai kosakata baru dan (5) meningkatkan motivasi mahasiswa untuk belajar bahasa asing. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa metode TPR tidak direkomendasikan untuk digunakan jika materi pembelajaran bersifat kompleks. Hasil t-test- one tailed menunjukkan bahwa metode TPR efektif dalam pembelajaran keterampilan bahasa asing di perguruan tinggi, dengan hasil 0,106 > 0,05 pada keterampilan berbicara bahasa Jerman, 0,406 > 0,05 pada keterampilan bahasa Arab 5 dan 0,330 > 0,05 bahasa Mandarin. Kata kunci: pembelajaran bahasa, metode TPR, bahasa Jerman, bahasa Arab, bahasa Mandarin

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to improve the German speaking skills of Class XI.1 Students of SMA Negeri 24 Bone Regency using the Total Physical Response method. This study is a classroom action research (CAR) which includes planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were 33 class XI.1 students. The data collection techniques used were speaking skills tests and observations. The results of the first cycle observation, the teacher had not applied the Total Physical Response method according to the steps, so that students were not yet fluent in speaking German, the results still did not reach the qualifications. However, the results obtained in cycle II, all steps of the Total Physical Response method had been implemented well and students were able to speak German clearly and fluently. Quantitative data were obtained through speaking skills tests in cycles I and II. The results of the students' German speaking test in cycle I obtained an average of 70.41 and increased in cycle II with an average value of 81.75. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Total Physical Response method can improve the German speaking skills of class XI.1 students of SMA Negeri 24 BoneKeywords: Classroom Action Research, Speaking Skills, Total Physical Response

Abstract

Abstract. This type of research is a classroom action research that aims to determine the improvement of German speaking skills in class XI students of SMA Negeri 14 Makassar by using the jigsaw type cooperative learning model. This research consists of two cycles where each cycle consists of two meetings that have the same flow of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data from this study were analyzed using the Mix Method, where the data obtained will be presented in qualitative form describing student learning outcomes and quantitative data which is the result of the German speaking skills test given at the third meeting of each cycle. Based on the results of data analysis, the average score obtained by students in cycle I was 61.91 and in cycle II the average score obtained by students was 84.85. From the results of the study, it is concluded that the jigsaw type cooperative learning model can help improve students' German speaking skillsKeywords: Model, Cooperative, Jigsaw, Speaking Skill, German

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to investigate the planning, process, and outcomes of improving sentence writing skills in Arabic language learning using the Iqra Wheel media. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this study are 25 students from grade VIII at MTs Muhammadiyah Ballo. The data collection techniques used are tests of simple sentence writing skills and observation. This study consists of two cycles. This research aims to determine the planning, process and results of improving sentence writing skills in learning Arabic using the iqro wheel media. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of this research were class VIII students at MTs Muhammadiyah Ballo with a total of 25 students. The data collection techniques used were simple sentence writing skills tests and observation. This research consists of two cycles. The results of observation in cycle I, the teacher has not implemented the iqro wheel media according to the steps, so that students cannot write sentences correctly and this still achieves sufficient qualifications with a score of 83. And the results in cycle II, all the steps in the iqro wheel media have all been implemented and students can already write simple sentences, this achieves very good qualifications with a score of 94. And the test results show that the first cycle in qualifications is less with a score of 53, then the second cycle test results show that the use of iqro wheel media can improve the skills of writing simple sentences with qualifications enough with a score of 75. These results show that students' simple writing skills in Arabic have increased with the standard Iqro wheel media in learning ArabicKeywords: : Iqro wheel media, writing skills, Arabic sentences
