Abstract

This study aims to identify the strategies implemented by the principal in integrating character education into the curriculum, as well as the support and obstacles faced. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Through this qualitative approach, data sources were obtained from observations, interviews with the principal, vice principal, teachers, and students of the Integrated Islamic Elementary School Darussalam Palembang. The determination of data sources in this study utilizes primary and secondary data. Based on the research results, it shows that the principal has played a key role in implementing character values, such as religiosity, discipline, and responsibility, through two methods: involving all school members, including the vice principal, subject teachers, and administrative staff, and collaborating with parents through the school committee. Although there are obstacles, consisting of two internal factors and external factors, the internal factors arise from the students themselves, who still find it difficult to accept character education values due to unfamiliarity. The second external factor comes from the environment, particularly the differences in students' family backgrounds. Therefore, collaboration between the school and parents is crucial for realizing effective character education.

Abstract

This study investigates the management of the Merdeka Curriculum in enhancing the quality of arts and culture learning at SDN 22 Talang Kelapa, a designated Sekolah Penggerak (Driving School). The research aims to explore the implementation process of curriculum management, identify challenges faced by educators, and propose solutions to overcome these issues. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach with data triangulation, researchers collected information through structured interviews, direct observations, and documentation. Participants included school principals, teachers, students, and school committee members. The results reveal that the planning and implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum were carried out effectively through diagnostic assessments, differentiated instruction, and reflective teaching practices. The integration of the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) promoted students’ character building, creativity, and engagement in cross-subject learning. However, some obstacles remain, particularly related to limited digital infrastructure, insufficient experience among newly assigned teachers, and incomplete teaching modules on the official platform. To address these issues, the school conducted ongoing professional development programs and fostered collaborative practices among stakeholders. This research underscores the importance of structured curriculum management and sustained teacher support to ensure the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, ultimately improving the quality of arts and culture education in primary schools.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of learning management and achievement motivation on student learning achievement in State Elementary Schools in Sako District, Palembang, Indonesia. A quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design was employed. Data were collected via questionnaires from 160 teachers across State Elementary Schools in Sako District. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to examine the relationships between variables. The findings indicate that (1) learning management significantly influences student learning achievement, (2) achievement motivation significantly affects student learning achievement, and (3) both learning management and achievement motivation collectively have a significant impact on student learning achievement. This study provides empirical evidence on the combined influence of learning management and achievement motivation on student outcomes in the context of Indonesian elementary education, a less explored area in existing literature. The results suggest that enhancing teachers' learning management strategies and fostering achievement motivation can improve student performance. School administrators and policymakers should consider targeted training programs for teachers to optimize these factors. This study contributes to educational research by validating the importance of instructional and motivational factors in student achievement, offering insights for educators and stakeholders in similar socio-cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principal’s leadership and teacher’s performance on student’s achievement at SMAN 2 Muara Sugihan. The method used is a survey with a questionnaire involving 30 teachers as respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including validity, reliability, and multiple regression tests. The results of the study indicate that principal’s leadership has a positive and significant effect on student’s achievement, with a t-test of 12.862 and a significance of 0.005. In addition, teacher’s performance also has a positive and significant effect on student’s achievement, with a t-test of 13,268 and a significance of 0.000. Simultaneously, principal’s leadership and teacher’s performance have a significant effect on student’s achievement, with a significance value of 0.008. The coefficient of determination (R²) shows that 80.7% of the variation in student’s achievement can be explained by the two independent variables. This finding confirms the importance of the role of leadership and teacher’s performance in improving student’s achievement, as well as providing recommendations for the development of educational policies in schools.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of holistic leadership in strengthening character education amidst the challenges of the digital era at SDN 17 Tungkal Ilir, Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation analysis involving the principal, teachers, and community stakeholders. The findings reveal a three-tier strategic framework: first, the principal serves as the primary role model through a consistent “5S” culture (Greet, Smile, Salutation, Politeness, Courtesy), creating a ripple effect of integrity; second, character values are internalized through structured routines, including the “7 Habits of Happy Kids” program, daily reflection journals, and Scouting as a character laboratory for discipline and independence; third, the school establishes a “School Fortress” (Benteng Sekolah) by integrating formal partnerships with the Police and parents to mitigate external negative influences such as online gambling and gadget addiction. The study concludes that holistic leadership, which synchronizes exemplary behavior, consistent habituation, and cross-sectoral collaboration, effectively fortifies student character even within resource-constrained and technologically challenging environments. The novelty lies in the integrated framework combining role modeling, structured routines, and external partnerships as a unified response to digital-era moral risks. Practically, this model offers a replicable strategy for schools facing similar challenges. The study contributes to educational leadership literature by demonstrating how holistic leadership can transcend conventional teaching to address structural constraints and moral degradation risks in contemporary schooling contexts.
