Abstract

This research investigates how language use and gender segregation in the SMes of Pempek 26 Ilir Palembang contribute to the representation of gender identity. This phenomenon is significant, as workplaces in Indonesia, especially in Palembang, persistently display notable gender segregation. In the quest for gender parity, employees’ identities are continuously replicated, with language being a crucial role. This qualitative research utilizes documentation, observation, and interviews for data collection. Meanwhile, the Miles and Huberman approach, that entails data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, is used for data analysis. Butler’s theory of gender performativity serves as the analytical lens, adopting a case study approach. The results show that most of employees and managers of SMEs in the Pempek 26 Ilir area aware the existing gender segregation. Stereotypes are the cause of this segregation. This division results from assumptions that say women belong in jobs requiring endurance and attention to detail, while males belong in jobs that are more physically demanding. The language used by employees is courteous but informal, and the subjects of conversation differ greatly. Male and female employees typically focus on work or interests, while female employees are more talkative about personal and family problems. Overall, these findings show that heteronormative gender performativity is reinforced in the work environment of Indonesian SMEs, especially in Pempek 26 Ilir Palembang, where males are seen as stronger and more reserved and women as weaker but more communicative.

Abstract

Women in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) often need help marketing their products or services, including limited access to resources for promotion and distribution. Restricted accessibility and a lack of understanding of digital technology are significant barriers limiting their marketing potential. Digital literacy becomes a crucial element that can change the paradigm and open opportunities for women MSMEs to overcome these challenges. This study aims to understand the experiences and skills of women MSMEs in applying digital literacy and propose a community-based education model to enhance marketing capabilities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. A total of 15 informants from the MSME community members of the Indonesian Muslim Entrepreneurs Association (IPMI) Palembang were selected based on inclusion criteria, including experience in the MSME business, a minimum education level of high school, and active involvement in marketing activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with an interview guide covering themes of digital literacy and marketing skills. Most respondents have a low level of digital literacy and limitations in using digital technology for business. The main challenges faced are difficulties adapting to digital technology and concerns about digital security. Most respondents still rely on conventional marketing methods and feel less confident managing digital marketing campaigns. Digital literacy and marketing skills remain significant challenges for women MSMEs in Palembang. A community-based education model is needed to overcome these obstacles, including digital literacy workshops, mentor-mentee programs, experience-sharing sessions, and specific skills training.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing financial literacy among Generation Z in Palembang. The research methodology employed is quantitative, assessing the strength of the relationship between dependent and independent variables within the population. A sample of 120 respondents was selected, and data were analyzed using Smart PLS 3.0 software. The analysis reveals that financial behavior and financial attitudes significantly influence financial literacy, whereas financial knowledge does not exhibit a significant influence. The overall regression model demonstrates that financial behavior, financial knowledge, and financial attitude collectively contribute significantly to explaining variations in financial literacy. However, the study is constrained by limitations in sample coverage and data collection methods. Nevertheless, the results of the simultaneous test indicate that the overall regression model is significant in elucidating the relationship between the variables under study and financial literacy. The implication of this research underscores the necessity for enhancing financial behavior and attitudes to bolster financial literacy among Generation Z in Palembang.

Abstract

This study uses perceived organizational support (POS) as a mediating variable in a private institution to investigate how self-efficacy and knowledge sharing affect professor performance.  240 lecturers from 16 private universities in Palembang City were surveyed as part of this study's quantitative technique, which was chosen by stratified random sampling.  Through LISREL, structural equation modeling, or SEM, was used to analyze the data.  The results show that while self-efficacy has no direct impact on lecturer performance, it has a favorable and significant impact on POS.  On the other hand, it has been demonstrated that information exchange considerably and favorably affects lecturer performance, but not perceived organizational support (POS). Concurrently, it has been demonstrated that POS mediates the relationship between self-efficacy and lecturer performance and considerably enhances lecturer performance; however, it does not mediate the relationship between performance and knowledge sharing.  These results validate the importance of organizational support in maximizing individual contributions, especially in boosting knowledge-sharing behavior and self-efficacy.  According to this study, private institutions should enhance organizational support systems that can boost self-esteem and promote a knowledge-sharing culture in order to maximize the effectiveness of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
