Abstract

Abstract Cardiovascular disease (CVD) continues to be the top cause of fatality on a global scale, accounting for more than 70% of mortality worldwide. Early detection is crucial to reduce the risk of complications and death, but conventional methods often have difficulty identifying complex patterns in large medical data. To mitigate this issue, the current research offers a machine learning-based combinative approach that integrates unsupervised learning techniques such as k-modes clustering with boosting-based supervised classification algorithms, such as Adaptive Boost (Adaboost), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM), and Category Boost (CatBoost). The core value of this research stems from its utilization of data segmentation through clustering before the classification process, which aims to refine the dependability and correctness of the model to the complexity of medical data. The dataset used comes from Kaggle with a total of 70,000 patient data. Evaluation findings demonstrate that the LightGBM algorithm outperforms others, achieving 91.49% accuracy, followed by CatBoost and XGBoost. Meanwhile, AdaBoost showed the lowest performance. This approach significantly improved the prediction performance compared to previous approaches that only used a single classification method. Thus, the integration of clustering and boosting proved to be an effective strategy in detecting CVD early and has great potential to be implemented in an efficient and accurate clinical decision support system.

Abstract

The older adults get, the greater the risk of someone getting gout. It is caused by a decrease in hormone levels when the hormone oestrogen decreases in the body; there is only a tiny amount of the hormone oestrogen, which helps remove uric acid through the urine and can cause the disposal of uric acid to become uncontrolled, resulting in a buildup of degenerative diseases, one of which is gout. One of the non-pharmacological actions that can be used to reduce uric acid levels is by giving soursop leaf boiled water. This study aims to determine the effect of soursop leaf-boiled water on reducing uric acid levels in the elderly before and after the intervention. This research method used quasi-pre- and post-testing in the intervention group. The sampling technique used was random sampling of 65 respondents using an observation sheet with SOP for soursop leaf stew. The analysis showed that the average uric acid level before giving soursop leaf decoction was 42.2%, with high uric acid levels. While the average high uric acid level after administration of soursop leaf-boiled water is 12.3% with moderate uric acid levels and as much as 87.7% with average or low uric acid levels, The results of the marginal homogeneity test obtained a P value of 0.001 (<0.05), meaning that there was a significant difference in mean between the pretest and post-test, which affected giving soursop leaf boiled water to reduce uric acid levels in the elderly—suggestions for health services to provide facilities to health service workers so they can apply traditional medicine.

Abstract

Psychological distress, particularly anxiety, is common among elderly individuals with hypertension and may negatively affect their quality of life and disease management. This study aimed to examine changes in anxiety levels following Mindfulness Butterfly Hug Therapy among hypertensive elderly individuals. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted involving 97 elderly participants with hypertension from a community health center in Semarang, Indonesia. Participants received Mindfulness Butterfly Hug Therapy for 15 minutes over three consecutive days. Anxiety levels were assessed using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests. The results demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in anxiety scores, with mean HARS scores decreasing from 31.94 before the intervention to 16.53 after the intervention (mean difference = 15.41, p = 0.001). Most participants shifted from higher levels of anxiety to mild or no anxiety following the intervention. These findings suggest that Mindfulness Butterfly Hug Therapy may be associated with reduced anxiety levels among hypertensive elderly individuals and may serve as a practical non-pharmacological approach in community healthcare settings. However, due to the use of a one-group pretest-posttest design without a comparison group, causal conclusions cannot be drawn. Further controlled studies are warranted to confirm these findings and assess long-term outcomes.

Abstract

Weavers are often restricted from maintaining ergonomic postures due to static work activities and repetitive movements that can cause complaints of low back pain. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of abdominal stretching exercise on reducing low back pain complaints. A quasi-experimental design (one-group pre-posttest) was used in this study with 45 weavers as a research sample, taken by total sampling technique. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a p-value of <0.001, demonstrating a statistically significant decrease in low back pain complaints. After the intervention, the majority of respondents experienced a decrease in pain levels from moderate to mild. This study demonstrates the potential of abdominal stretching exercise as a non-pharmacological approach to managing low back pain in weaving workers; however, additional studies with more robust methodologies are required to substantiate these results.
