Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is an essential skill that allows students to apply mathematical concepts to problems. However, there are still quite serious problems related to students' low mathematical problem solving abilities. Therefore, service in the form of assistance in solving contextual-based questions on SPLDV material aims to facilitate students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This assistance is provided to class VIII MTsN Gowa students. Evaluation of the level of success of service is carried out through learning outcomes tests which include contextual-based questions and student response questionnaires. Based on the analysis of learning outcomes tests, it was found that students' mathematical problem solving abilities still need to be trained. However, based on analysis of student response questionnaires, a positive response was obtained regarding the implementation of mentoring. Thus, service activities in the form of assistance in solving contextual-based problems are feasible to be carried out on an ongoing basis in an effort to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

Social development in children, especially in cooperation behavior is very important to be stimulated from an early age, because it is fundamental to children in interacting with people around them. fundamental in children in interacting with people around them. This service aims to determine cooperative behavior after applying the group discussion method to children aged 5-6 years. This community service research in the form of service learning was carried out at the Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Minasa Upa Kindergarten, Makassar City with a total of 10 children participating. The instruments used were an animal size sorting activity worksheet, an observation sheet on the achievement of children's cooperative behavior and an evaluation sheet on the implementation of the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the service show that children are able to increase cooperative behavior in groups. The findings in this service show that the application of the group discussion method is effective in stimulating social interaction and collaboration among children which is the basic foundation for working together and improving their social skills in the future.

Abstract

The development of online learning is increasingly rapid, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic which demands an innovation in the education system. However, this development is not accompanied by the availability of innovative learning media. Therefore, this study aims to develop an elementary linear algebra learning video media in Islamic context. This research type is research and development using a 4D development model consisting of 4 stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The subjects of this research trial were students of the Department of Mathematics Education, class of 2020 B, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Alauddin Makassar. The research data were obtained using questionnaires, observations, and learning outcomes tests. The data is processed through the analysis of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The results showed that the video media that had been developed had met the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective. Thus, this learning video media can be a solution to better support the implementation of online learning.Perkembangan pembelajaran daring semakin pesat khususnya di masa Pandemi Covid-19 yang menuntut adanya inovasi sistem pendidikan. Namun, perkembangan ini tidak diiringi dengan ketersediaan media pembelajaran yang inovatif. Karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media video pembelajaran aljabar linear elementer dalam konteks Islam. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 4D yang terdiri dari 4 tahapan yaitu define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Subjek uji coba penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Matematika, angkatan 2020 kelas B, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan UIN Alauddin Makassar. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan angket, observasi, dan tes hasil belajar. Data diolah melalui analisis kevalidan, kepraktsian, dan keefektifan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media video pembelajaran aljabar linear elementer dalam konteks Islam yang dikembangkan telah memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Dengan demikian, media video pembelajaran ini dapat menjadi solusi untuk mendukung terlaksananya pembelajaran daring dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

Students' spatial abilities often do not receive optimal development in the learning process, even though they are crucial aspects in mathematics. This study aims to test differences in the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the GeoGebra 3D Calculator on students' spatial abilities, compared to the PBL model without the media. This quasi-experimental study used a Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group design involving 65 eighth-grade students at MTs Madani Alauddin, who were divided into an experimental class (n=31) and a control class (n=34). Spatial ability data were collected through a descriptive posttest instrument. The results showed that the experimental class's average spatial ability (73.62) was significantly higher than that of the control class (69.17). The independent sample t-test confirmed a significant difference, meaning that the PBL model treatment with GeoGebra 3D Calculator was more effective. It was concluded that the application of the PBL model combined with the GeoGebra 3D Calculator had a positive and significant effect on improving students' spatial abilities, while emphasizing the important role of interactive visual media in facilitating understanding of geometric spatial concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the description of the implementation of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model in mathematics learning for grade X students at MA Madani Alauddin, (2) the description of students’ critical thinking skills, and (3) the effect of applying the NHT cooperative learning model on students’ critical thinking skills in mathematics learning. This research employed an ex post facto design with a quantitative approach. The study was conducted at MA Madani Alauddin with a population of 85 grade X students divided into three classes. The sample consisted of 28 students selected through a simple random sampling technique. The instruments used were an NHT implementation questionnaire to measure the level of model application and an essay test to assess students’ critical thinking skills. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistics and inferential statistics in the form of a simple linear regression test. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the implementation of the NHT cooperative learning model among grade X students at MA Madani Alauddin was in the high category with an average score of 65.61, (2) students’ critical thinking skills were also in the high category with an average score of 67.57, and (3) based on the simple linear regression analysis, it was found that t_count > t_table (5.557 > 1.7056) with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, thus H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. This means that there is a significant effect of the NHT cooperative learning model on students’ critical thinking skills in mathematics learning. The contribution of this effect is shown by the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.543, indicating that 54.3% of students’ critical thinking skills are influenced by the application of the NHT model, while the remaining 45.7% are influenced by other factors outside this study.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prosedur pengembangan serta kualitas media pembelajaran matematika menggunakan Software Adobe Animate pada materi logika matematika ditinjau dari tingkat kevalidan, kepraktisan, keefektifan. Research and Development (R&D) adalah jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini dengan prosedur pengembangan ADDIE. Siswa kelas XI di SMK Negeri 1 Gowa menjadi subjek penelitian. Produk yang dihasilkan adalah media pembelajaran matematika pada materi logika matematika yang terdapat alat peraga visual dan didesain dengan menarik yang dapat dioperasikan dengan laptop dan android secara offline. Lima tahapan prosedur pengembangan ADDIE antara lain: tahap Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Selanjutnya, hasil dari kriteria kevalidan didasarkan pada hasil validasi oleh tim validator adalah 3,51 (sangat valid). Kriteria kepraktisan didasarkan pada hasil respon guru 98% (sangat positif) dan lembar observasi kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran 3,84 (tinggi), kemudian dari kedua hasil analisis tersebut media memenuhi kriteria praktis. Kriteria keefektifan didasarkan pada hasil respon peserta didik 93,7% (sangat positif), pengamatan aktvitas peserta didik 87,3% (sangat baik), dan tes hasil belajar diperoleh persentase ketuntasan 83,87%, sehingga dari hasil pengukuran diperoleh media memenuhi kriteria efektif. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran materi logika matematika layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Purpose: This study dissects TIMSS-based mathematical literacy difficulties in Relation and Function topics using Polya’s framework to bridge the gap between global standards and students' cognitive realities. Design/methodology/approach: Employing a descriptive qualitative design, data were gathered from 21 tenth-grade students through problem-solving tests and in-depth interviews, then analyzed to map difficulty profiles across varying ability levels. Findings: Results reveal stratified obstacles: high-ability students struggle with accuracy; middle-ability with strategic maturity; while low-ability students face systemic failure across all Polya stages due to weak fundamental concepts and poor time management. This confirms that literacy barriers are rooted in metacognitive failures during solution evaluation. Practical implications: These findings advocate for differentiated learning and systematic heuristic training to accommodate diverse cognitive profiles in meeting international assessment standards. Originality/value: This study offers a specific diagnostic on Relation and Function topics within a madrasah context, enriching the literature on mapping mathematical literacy barriers contextualized against global TIMSS indicators.   Purpose: Penelitian ini membedah kesulitan literasi matematika berstandar TIMSS pada materi Relasi dan Fungsi menggunakan kerangka Polya guna menjembatani celah antara standar global dan realitas kognitif peserta didik. Design/methodology/approach: Melalui desain deskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan dari 21 siswa kelas X melalui tes pemecahan masalah dan wawancara mendalam, lalu dianalisis secara sistematis untuk memetakan profil kesulitan berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan.Findings: Temuan menunjukkan stratifikasi hambatan: siswa berkemampuan tinggi terkendala akurasi; kategori sedang terhambat pada maturitas strategi; sementara kategori rendah mengalami kegagalan sistemik di seluruh tahap Polya akibat lemahnya konsep fundamental dan manajemen waktu. Ini mengonfirmasi bahwa kesulitan literasi berakar pada hambatan metakognitif dalam mengevaluasi solusi. Practical implications: Hasil ini merekomendasikan implementasi pembelajaran berdiferensiasi (differentiated learning) dan penguatan prosedur heuristik untuk mengakomodasi keberagaman profil kognitif siswa dalam menghadapi penilaian internasional. Originality/value: Studi ini memberikan diagnosa spesifik pada materi Relasi dan Fungsi dalam konteks madrasah, memperkaya literatur pemetaan hambatan literasi matematika yang dikontekstualisasikan langsung dengan indikator global TIMSS.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students' collaborative skills and understanding of mathematical concepts through the application of a guided inquiry learning model on exponential material at SMP Negeri 2 Sleman, Yogyakarta. The activity was carried out over 45 days through six stages, namely initial observation, preparation of teaching tools, socialization of the learning model, explanation of the material, implementation of group learning, and presentation and reflection on the results of the activity. An observation instrument was used to assess five indicators of student collaboration skills, namely active contribution, productive work, responsibility, flexibility and compromise, and mutual respect. The results of the community service showed an increase in all aspects of collaboration skills with an average increase of 21%. The highest increase occurred in the flexibility and compromise indicator at 23%, which shows that students are increasingly able to adapt and work together with their group mates. In addition, students' conceptual understanding of exponential rules also improved through discussion activities and contextual problem solving. Thus, the application of the guided inquiry learning model was effective in fostering collaboration and deepening students' mathematical conceptual understanding in exponential learning.
