Abstract

The problem of this study is “Is there any significant difference on writing achievement between the eighth grade students of SMP N 26 Palembang who are taught by using scramble sentence method and those who are not?”. This research applied quantitative method namely quasi experimental design and used simple random sampling. The writer used writing rubric to collect data and analyzed the result of test by using paired sample t-test and independent simple t-test. Total number of population was 303 students which is VIII.3 as control group and VIII.I, as experimental group. Based on the result of this study, the mean score in post test score were 73.44 for control group and 76.09 for experimental group. The result of the independent sample t-test shows the value of sig. (2-tailed) was 0.01 < 0.05 at the level of significant 0.05. While, the value of t-obtained was 2.415 higher than the critical value of t-table was 1.665 with degree of freedom 62, can be concluded that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

The research was conducted as a potential means to address the issues about low student learning outcomes, especially in cognitive abilities. Facts show that the score was still below the minimum mastery criteria of 75, especially in the field of social science for sixth-grade students. Social studies learning is recorded as it still uses conventional methods and teachers rarely give feedback on student work, coupled with the minimal use of media and not providing motivation to students. The present research aimed to apply the teams’ games tournament (TGT) approach to enhance the students’ cognitive abilities. The researchers employed two improvement cycles in the form of classroom action research procedures. The progress of students' learning outcomes was in each cycle, starting at 34.62% in the pre-cycle, completeness rose to 84.6% after the first cycle and reached 92.3% in the second cycle. The research results suggest that the implementation of the TGT method yielded a significant improvement in cognitive abilities of academic achievement among the research participants.

Abstract

Background: Rendahnya manajemen tata kelola usaha, rendahnya alat produksi, dan rendahnya jangkauan pemasaran menjadi permasalahaan yang melatar belakangi adanya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat agar dapat diberikan solusi yang tepat sesuai permasalahan mitra. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menaikkan kelas angkringan yang mampu menghasilkan produk organik dan alami sebagai brand value nya, agar produk yang di hasilkan dapat di pasarkan melalui sosial media, E-commerce. Metode: Kegiatan PKM di hadiri oleh ibu Rusida sebgai pemilikAngkringan Masuk Monjok beserta enam karyawannya, menggunakan Metode PRA yang mengedepankan keterlibatan mitra secara penuh, diawali perencanaan yaitu analisis situasi, penentuan tema, jadwal, pelaksanaan edukasi, pendampingan, pelatihan, serta evaluasi untuk melihat keberhasilan implementasi kegiatan pada mitra, sedangkan pengambilan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan diskusi. Hasil: Mitra dapat meningkatkan tata kelola usaha melalui penerapan brand value, biaya mutu, diferensiais produk, mengahasilkan produk baru berupa serundeng dan bumbu bubuk kemasan, serta mampu memasarkan produknya lewat pemasaran online. Kesimpulan: Angkringan Masuk Monjok naik kelas karena mampu memproduksi bumbu bubuk kemasan, yang disertai label, dan keterangan pada kemasan, dipromosikan serta dipasarkan melalui pemasaran online agar menjangkau pasar yang lebih luas dengan harga yang sangat terjangkau.

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to analyze the language errors of BIPA students in Jambi Province in writing non-academic texts. The research method used in qualitative research is a content analysis approach. The data in this research consists of analysis of language errors in the aspects of grammar, vocabulary, spelling, as well as inappropriate cohesion and coherence in the non-academic texts of BIPA students in Jambi City. The source of research data was obtained from written results in the from of proposal texts for BIPA student activities based on the Affiliate Program for BIPA students from Jambi University and Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi State Islamic University with a total of thirty foreign students from Malaysia and Thailand. The research results show that BIPA students’ language errors consist of errors in grammar, vocabulary, spelling, cohesion and coherence. The causes of these errors are influenced by mother tongue interference, lack of understanding of Indonesian language rules, and communication strategies. This research serves as a guideline for improving BIPA teaching methods to improve Indonesian language skills needed in the ability to write non-academic texts in the form of activity proposals.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the social values in these short stories, as well as to explain the role of emotions in reinforcing the moral message of literary works. The research method used in this analysis is a qualitative descriptive method, which is a comprehensive and in-depth study. The data collection technique involves reading and taking notes from the objects being studied. The short stories Gulai Kam-bhing and Ibu Rapilus by Ahmad Tohari contain many emotive meanings that can evoke emotions in readers. These emotions are grouped into three types, starting with negative emotions, namely: annoyed, confused, insulted, disappointed, anxious, surprised, troubled, regretful, tense, dislike, insensitive, and angry. Positive emotions include sincerity, admiration, laughter, nostalgia, kindness, and empathy. Lastly, neutral emotions include resignation. These emotions are evoked by the author's skillful narrative, and the words that carry emotional meaning include quickly, surprising, skinny, enjoyable, agility, aware, anxious, and so on.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan video berbasis kearifan lokal Jambi dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi pada siswa kelas VII SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi. Teks deskripsi adalah jenis teks yang menggambarkan suatu objek secara rinci sehingga pembaca dapat membayangkan objek tersebut secara nyata. Penggunaan media video berbasis kearifan lokal dipilih untuk meningkatkan minat dan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis, serta mengenalkan budaya lokal kepada peserta didik. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi terhadap proses pembelajaran, wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi hasil tulisan siswa. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan video berbasis kearifan lokal Jambi memberikan dampak positif terhadap keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran dan kualitas tulisan mereka. Siswa menjadi lebih antusias, memahami materi dengan lebih baik, dan mampu menulis teks deskripsi yang lebih terperinci dan menarik. Selain itu, penggunaan video yang mengangkat budaya lokal juga membentuk kesadaran budaya pada siswa dan menumbuhkan rasa memiliki terhadap kearifan lokal daerah mereka.Kata kunci: Menulis, Teks Deskripsi, Video, Kearifan Lokal, Jambi

Abstract

This research aims to describe high school teachers' perceptions of the issue of administering the National Examination. The research method uses a qualitative research type with a phenomenological approach. Research data were obtained through observation and interviews related to the National Examination phenomenon. Research participants used purposive sampling consisting of nine high school teachers in various generations, namely generation x, generation y, and generation z in Batanghari Regency. The validity of the data used is source triangulation through Miles and Huberman's theory. The results of the study indicate that high school teachers of generations X, Y, and Z in Batanghari Regency agree to hold the National Examination by reviewing student graduation indicators, using technology in its implementation, and can improve learning motivation and student character.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning activity observed in the teaching of the Indonesian language, particularly article writing, in the first semester of Class XII Science 1 at SMA Negeri 1 Merangin during the 2023/2024 academic year. Out of 31 students, only a few showed good learning outcomes and actively answered the teacher’s questions, while others remained passive, hesitant to ask questions, or distracted during lessons. The aim of this classroom action research (CAR) is to describe the improvement in students' article writing skills through the application of the 3M method (Meniru–Imitating, Mengolah–Processing, and Mengembangkan–Developing). The study was conducted over two cycles during the semester. The results showed that the 3M method effectively improved students' article writing skills. From Cycle I to Cycle II, there was a 12.09% improvement. Overall, from the pre-cycle to Cycle II, the percentage of students achieving scores above the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM) of 75 increased by 39%. Specifically, there was a 25.81% improvement from the pretest to Cycle I and a further 12.09% increase from Cycle I to Cycle II. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the 3M method be applied to enhance article writing skills among Class XII students at SMA Negeri 1 Merangin.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan video animasi terhadap kemampuan menulis teks cerita fabel pada siswa SMP. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan menulis siswa dalam menulis teks cerita fabel. Video animasi dipilih sebagai alat pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif untuk meningkatkan minat dan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan desain penelitian Pre Eksperimental Design. Adapun jenis penelitian dari Pre Eksperimental Design, yaitu One-Group Pretes Posstest Design. Dalam penelitian ini penulis melibatkan 1 kelompok dan tanpa adanya kelas kontrol. Data dalam penelitian ini hasil pretest dan posttest siswa dalam menulis teks cerita fabel. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini berupa uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis. Proses perhitungan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil perhitungan menggunakan data pretest dan posttest pada SPSS menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Dengan perolehan nilai dari uji normalitas pretest 0,092 posttest 0,071 dan perolehan nilai uji homogenitas 0,965. Perhitungan dari uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample T Test, data pretest memiliki rata-rata nilai 67,66 dan nilai posttest memiliki nilai rata-rata 80,47. Dengan keputusan H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Dengan demikian, berdasarkan hasil dinyatakan video animasi berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan siswa SMP kelas VII dalam menulis teks cerita fabel.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTradisi uang panai’ dalam adat pernikahan masyarakat Bugis merupakan simbol penghormatan kepada pihak perempuan sekaligus penanda kesiapan laki-laki dalam memasuki kehidupan rumah tangga. Namun dalam praktiknya, uang panai’ sering kali menjadi beban berat karena ditentukan berdasarkan strata sosial, tingkat pendidikan, hingga pekerjaan perempuan, sehingga menimbulkan ketimpangan dan kesenjangan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi perubahan pemahaman dan praktik masyarakat Desa Supat Timur dalam menentukan besaran uang panai’ secara lebih adil dan setara. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan dengan metode wawancara, observasi partisipatif, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat transformasi signifikan dalam pandangan masyarakat terhadapuang panai’. Nilainya kini ditentukan melalui musyawarah, mempertimbangkan kemampuan finansial pihak laki-laki, dan menitikberatkan pada nilai kekeluargaan, bukan status sosial. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kesetaraan dalam penentuan uang panai’ menjadi refleksi dari kesadaran baru yang mengedepankan nilai-nilai keadilan, kesederhanaan, dan hubungan antarkeluarga yang harmonis dalam pernikahan.
