Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on Financial distress with Financial performance as a mediating variable in industrial sector companies listed on the IDX for the period 2020–2023. The background of this study is based on increasing business competition due to cheap products from China, which caused the closure of 30 factories during that period. This study uses secondary data from financial reports of public companies with a purposive sampling method, resulting in 52 samples. Data analysis was carried out through regression and the Sobel test using SPSS 29. The results showed that GCG had no effect on Financial performance (p = 0.240), Financial performance had a negative effect on Financial distress (p = 0.000), and GCG had a negative effect on Financial distress (p = 0.035). However, Financial performance did not mediate the relationship between GCG and Financial distress (p = 0.254).

Abstract

This study explores the impact of verbal ability and interaction on children’s language skills during English read-aloud activities. Read-aloud sessions are widely recognized as a pivotal method to enhance children’s cognitive and linguistic development. The research employed a structural equation modeling approach to analyze data from 108 children aged 6 to 9 years participating in interactive English storytelling sessions. Key variables included verbal ability, interaction, and language skill development. Findings reveal that verbal ability significantly influences language skills, with a path coefficient of 0.400 (p = 0.001), underscoring its critical role in vocabulary acquisition and sentence construction. Interaction, though showing a moderate effect (0.185, p = 0.068), highlights the importance of collaborative learning and engagement in strengthening comprehension and contextual language use. Additionally, the response to read-aloud stories demonstrate a meaningful contribution (0.331, p = 0.009), emphasizing the role of narrative exposure in fostering linguistic competence. These findings provide actionable insights for educators and parents, suggesting that incorporating interactive elements and verbal practice into English read-aloud sessions can significantly boost children’s language skills. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on effective language development strategies and emphasizes the importance of creating engaging, communicative learning environments.

Abstract

This research focused on understanding various aspects related to the implementation of critical thinking skills among English teachers in vocational schools in Majene, Sulawesi Barat. The specific objectives were to investigate: (1) How English teachers prepare to implement critical thinking skill, involving diagnostic tests and lesson plan development. (2) The actual integration and effectiveness of critical thinking skills in English instruction at these vocational schools. (3) The methods used by teachers to evaluate students' critical thinking abilities, encompassing attitude, knowledge, and skill assessments. The study utilized a descriptive qualitative method, involving observation, interviews, and documentation with four certified English teachers from selected schools. The findings highlighted the multi-faceted nature of preparing, implementing, evaluating related to critical thinking skills in the vocational school. The result of data analysis revealed that The English teacher's preparation for integrating critical thinking skills involves two essential stages: conducting diagnostic tests to assess fundamental abilities and learning styles, and designing a comprehensive lesson plan. Throughout the learning process, critical thinking is actively applied, beginning with trigger questions in introductory activities, followed by problem-solving and group discussions in core activities, and concluding with students providing conclusions or constructive criticism. The assessment of students' critical thinking skills is conducted through Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions, encompassing both written and oral tests.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of competence on teachers' performance in public elementary schools in Makassar City. The methodology employed combines descriptive and confirmatory approaches, which provide a clear depiction of the data and test the influence of identified variables, including discipline, competence, leadership, motivation, and teacher performance. The research is conducted in 58 schools across three districts in Makassar, with the research period planned for three months, from April to July 2024. The results indicate that although leadership has a positive influence on teacher performance, the impact is not significant. This finding suggests that factors such as the school environment and resource limitations can affect the effectiveness of leadership in enhancing performance. This study provides important insights for developing educational policies that better support improving teacher performance at the elementary level.

Abstract

This systematic review examines the complex challenges to intercultural communication ethics posed by the proliferation of misinformation and digital propaganda. It synthesises current research on the spread and impact of these phenomena, highlighting their effects on intercultural relations and social cohesion. The review identifies gaps in existing literature, particularly regarding strategies for promoting constructive online dialogue and ethical frameworks for digital communication. Findings emphasise the importance of media and information literacy in empowering individuals to evaluate information and make informed decisions. The review also explores the ethical considerations surrounding the use of AI in marketing and recommends educational interventions focused on multiculturalism and the dynamics of privilege. The conclusion calls for active engagement with ethical experts to safeguard social media users, enhance trust in research, and foster intercultural competence to combat misinformation and promote responsible online engagement.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengasuh panti asuhan berusaha untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai pendidikan agama Islam di Panti Asuhan Muhammadiyah Putri Aimas, dan juga untuk menemukan faktor-faktor yang mendukung dan menghambat proses tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dan data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, wawancara, dan observasi partisipatif dari pengasuh, pengurus, dan anak asuh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengasuh secara teratur menggunakan strategi pembinaan seperti shalat berjamaah, tadarus Al-Qur'an, mengajar akhlak melalui keteladanan, memberikan bimbingan keagamaan baik secara individual maupun kolektif, dan mengelola kegiatan keagamaan yang terorganisir.Lingkungan religius yang baik, sarana ibadah yang cukup, partisipasi aktif Muhammadiyah, dan komitmen pengasuh adalah komponen penting dalam proses ini. Sementara itu, beberapa tantangan yang dihadapi termasuk latar belakang anak asuh yang beragam, kekurangan sumber daya manusia, dan kurangnya keinginan sebagian anak untuk berpartisipasi dalam pembinaan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran pengasuh sangat penting dalam membentuk karakter religius anak melalui pendekatan kekeluargaan dan pembinaan yang berkelanjutan. Selain itu, pengasuh memberikan kontribusi penting bagi lembaga sosial dan pendidikan dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai agama Islam untuk mencetak generasi yang berakhlak mulia dan kompetitif.

Abstract

The Engfluence program is an interactive E-Learning-based course designed to improve students' English skills at SMAN 2 Makassar. This program was implemented in response to students' low English proficiency, particularly at the Elementary level (A1-A2 CEFR), as identified through pre-tests and classroom observations. The action research method was employed, involving problem identification, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The program utilized digital platforms such as Google Meet, Canva, Wordwall, Kahoot, and Quizizz to create interactive and engaging learning experiences. Evaluation results indicated significant improvements in students' English proficiency. The Beginner class (A1-A2) showed an average score increase of 23 points (from 52 to 75), while the Intermediate class (B1-B2) improved by 17 points (from 65 to 82). Key success factors included an intensive and structured learning approach, level-based class division, and the use of interactive digital media. The program not only enhanced students' understanding of the material but also boosted their confidence in using English for communication.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas media flashcard dalam meningkatkan minat belajar bahasa Indonesia dengan pendekatan problem-based learning di SD Negeri Mundu 01. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain siklus. PTK adalah penelitian yang dilakukan oleh guru untuk memperbaiki proses pembelajaran di kelas dengan memberikan tindakan yang sengaja dimunculkan dan melakukan refleksi terhadap hasilnya. Media flashcard adalah alat bantu belajar yang berisi poin-poin penting yang dapat dipakai untuk mengingat atau menjawab pertanyaan. Problem based learning (PBL) adalah metode pembelajaran yang mengajak siswa untuk menyelesaikan masalah nyata dengan menggunakan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mereka. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 27 siswa kelas 1 SD Negeri Mundu 01. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket minat belajar dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada tingkat keaktifan belajar dan minat belajar siswa pada Siklus II dibandingkan Siklus I, meningkat dari 74,47% menjadi 86,15% pada siklus II. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan media flashcard dengan pendekatan problem-based learning tidak hanya meningkatkan keaktifan belajar dan minat belajar siswa terhadap materi bahasa Indonesia, tetapi juga memperkuat interaksi antar siswa, menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang lebih aktif dan partisipatif. Kata kunci: media flashcard, minat belajar, problem based learning. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FLASHCARD MEDIA IN INCREASING INTEREST IN LEARNING INDONESIAN USING A PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING APPROACH AT MUNDU 01 STATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effectiveness of flashcard media in increasing interest in learning Indonesian with a problem-based learning approach at SD Negeri Mundu 01. This study uses a classroom action research method (PTK) with a cycle design. PTK is research conducted by teachers to improve the learning process in the classroom by providing actions that are deliberately raised and reflecting on the results. Flashcard media is a learning tool that contains important points that can be used to remember or answer questions. Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning method that invites students to solve real-world problems using their knowledge and skills. The research sample consisted of 27 students of grade 1 SD Negeri Mundu 01. The research instruments were a questionnaire of interest in learning and a test of learning outcomes. The results showed a significant increase in the level of students' learning activity and interest in Cycle II compared to Cycle I, from 74.47% to 86.15% in Cycle II. Therefore, the use of flashcard media with a problem-based learning approach not only increases students' learning activeness and interest in Indonesian language materials, but also strengthens interactions among students, creating a more active and participatory learning environment. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine: (1) The influence of organizational culture on job satisfaction, (2) The influence of compensation on job satisfaction, (3) The influence of organizational culture on employee performance, (4) The influence of compensation on employee performance, (5) The influence Job Satisfaction on Employee Performance, (6) The Influence of Organizational Culture by Intervening Job Satisfaction on Employee Performance, (7) The Effect of Compensation by Intervening Job Satisfaction on Employee Performance. The data analysis model used is path analysis with associative quantitative research methods, namely a population of 100 and a sample of 80. The research results show that (1) Organizational culture has a significant effect on job satisfaction, (2) Compensation has a significant effect on job satisfaction, ( 3) Organizational culture has a significant effect on employee performance, (4) Compensation has an insignificant effect on employee performance, (5) Job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee performance, (6) Organizational culture with intervening job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee performance, (7) Compensation by intervening job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee performance.
