Abstract

This research aims to determine, analyze and improve the layout of the storage warehouse at PT. IPP using the Class Based Storage Method. Materials that move quickly or are fast moving are stored close to the loading/unloading door to minimize material transportation distance. Company PT. IPP operates in the field of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services. The cause of the inefficient layout of goods in the warehouse is because there are no employees dedicated to the warehouse section so that the placement of goods becomes irregular. Based on the research, the results of the ABC classification in this study obtained three groups, namely where goods with a faster frequency of moving in and out were classified into group A, then goods which moved quickly but were not too close to the door were clarified into group B and items whose movements slow and far from the exit are classified as group C, clarification according to the frequency of material handling movement distance. After making a proposed warehouse layout, the results were able to minimize the distance moved during material handling in the initial warehouse layout of 7,033/month to a smaller value, namely 3,460/month. So it can be concluded that the Class Based Storage Method can be applied in companies so that the warehouse layout becomes more efficient.

Abstract

The shift in route from the Suez Canal to the Cape of Good Hope has led to delays in export shipments, resulting in reduced vessel space allocation and increased shipping costs. This indicates that the company is not effectively implementing supply chain resilience. This study aims to analyze the supply chain resilience at the company, a freight forwarding company in the maritime logistics industry, and provide recommendations for possible mitigation steps. The methodology used in this study is Quality Function Deployment (QFD) with the application of three Houses of Quality (HOQ). HOQ 1 is used to analyze the relationship between customer needs and potential risks, thereby identifying risk priorities. Next, HOQ 2 evaluates the relationship between potential risks and their causes, resulting in prioritized risk causes. Finally, HOQ 3 assesses the relationship between risk causes and mitigation measures, to determine the priority of these measures. The study findings indicate that the top three risk priorities are Document discrepancies and handling errors, Service errors, and Communication tool failures. To enhance supply chain resilience at the company, the recommended mitigation measures are: establishing good communication with customers, implementing a performance assessment system for employees with monthly evaluations, and maintaining effective communication and monitoring with shipping line partners.

Abstract

The logistics business is one sector of activity that is currently showing a high growth rate, in line with the increasing needs of society and the development of increasingly sophisticated technology. This development must be supported by efforts made to create an effective and efficient logistics system. The main trigger for the high cost of logistics in Indonesia is the inadequate logistics system and infrastructure. Therefore, an effective and efficient mode of transportation is needed in order to achieve optimization of logistics costs for companies, especially in the Cikarang area. The analytical tools used are Multinomial Logistic Regression, Crosstab Analysis and Stated Preference. From this analysis, there are four factors that most influence the willingness of respondents to use canal/waterway-based modes. These factors are the type of goods, the number of goods, shipping costs, and the reason for choosing the mode. Based on the calculation results of the four scenario simulations that have been carried out, it is known that the probability of switching from a highway/truck-based mode to a canal/waterway-based mode is 58.9% switching.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The persistent challenge of Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) violations in Indonesia's freight transport system poses critical threats to road infrastructure integrity, traffic safety, and economic efficiency. Despite regulatory frameworks established through Ministry of Transportation directives, enforcement remains fragmented, and compliance rates remain alarmingly low. This study develops an integrated multimodal transportation policy model employing Soft Systems Methodology (SSM) to address systemic ODOL violations through coordinated stakeholder engagement, technology-enabled enforcement, and strategic modal integration. Drawing on comprehensive analysis of 100+ peer-reviewed publications (2020-2025), international regulatory standards, and empirical enforcement data, this research constructs a holistic framework that transcends traditional command-and-control approaches. The proposed model integrates Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) technology deployment, port-gate digital integration systems, progressive sanction mechanisms calibrated to infrastructure damage externalities, and multimodal freight corridor development. Through SSM's seven-stage methodology, the study maps complex stakeholder interactions among government agencies, transport operators, infrastructure managers, and enforcement authorities, revealing systemic bottlenecks and leverage points for policy intervention. Empirical evidence from Abu Dhabi demonstrates 61% overload prevalence in unregulated environments, while Indonesian enforcement unit performance evaluations expose critical gaps in inter-agency coordination and enforcement capacity. The research proposes a phased nationwide implementation strategy encompassing governance architecture establishment, targeted enforcement pilots in high-risk corridors, sanction calibration linked to quantified road damage costs, and complementary modal shift incentives. This SSM-informed policy model offers actionable pathways for Indonesia to achieve Zero ODOL objectives while maintaining freight system efficiency and stakeholder viability, contributing theoretical advancement in systems-based transportation governance and practical frameworks for developing-country freight policy reform.

Abstract

Urban superblocks integrating mixed-use developments generate substantial traffic volumes that threaten to overwhelm existing arterial networks in rapidly urbanizing cities. This study evaluates the operational traffic impacts of the Pakuwon superblock development in Bekasi, Indonesia, using PTV VISSIM microsimulation calibrated against Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023). The research employs a hybrid methodology combining traffic engineering interventions with transportation demand management (TDM) strategies following the Avoid-Shift-Improve (ASI) framework. Baseline simulations reveal catastrophic network failure without mitigation, with volume-to-capacity (V/C) ratios reaching 1.81 and Level of Service (LOS) F on critical arterial segments. The study tested four alternative scenarios, with Alternative 3 (flyover construction combined with comprehensive TDM measures achieving 10% private vehicle reduction) demonstrating optimal performance. Post-mitigation simulations show V/C ratios reduced to 0.69 (average 47% improvement), speeds increased by 36%, and LOS improved to C-D across all segments. Findings demonstrate that integrating physical infrastructure improvements with binding demand management policies is essential for sustainable urban development in congested Asian cities. The research contributes a replicable methodological framework for traffic impact assessment that transcends conventional geometric-only approaches.

Abstract

Urban congestion represents a critical challenge in metropolitan transportation systems, particularly in one-way traffic corridors experiencing geometric bottlenecks. This study evaluates the implementation of one-way systems on Jalan Gading Indah Raya and proposes evidence-based intervention models to enhance traffic performance at Pintu Satu Gading, North Jakarta. Employing mixed-method triangulation, the research integrates field surveys, Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (PKJI) analysis, and PTV Vissim microsimulation modeling to assess existing conditions and evaluate intervention scenarios. Field data revealed peak traffic volumes reaching 6,804 vehicles per hour with speeds declining to 16 km/h, indicating severe saturation conditions. Three intervention scenarios were simulated, incorporating geometric modifications, signal timing optimization, and traffic management strategies. Results demonstrate that integrated interventions can improve degree of saturation by 23-31%, enhance average speeds by 18-27%, and elevate the level of service from D/E to B/C categories. The study validates microsimulation as an effective tool for evaluating traffic interventions in complex urban networks and provides actionable recommendations for transportation authorities managing geometric bottlenecks in one-way arterial systems.
