Abstract

The background to this research is based upon the phenomenon that is where lectures performances is not optimal so that the students' quality not favorable. As for the main factor, is the despicable performance of lecturer job satisfaction is low. Based on the previous researches, low job satisfaction is often caused by non-optimal of communication, work motivation and competences of lecturers at the private tourism college in west java. This study aims to acknowledge and analyze the impact of communication, work motivation and competences on job satisfaction and its implication on lecturers' performance in West Java private tourism college. This study uses a descriptive and explanatory survey approach. In this study, the samples were 224 lecturers in west java private colleges. The research used path analysis to interpret and explain the data result. The research concludes that there is an influence of the communication on job satisfaction of 3, 6%. Furthermore, the effect of work motivation on job satisfaction was 20, 3% and the effect of competences on job satisfaction were 12, 9%. In overall, the influence of independent variables on the job satisfaction was 70%, while the remaining 30% was from the other factors which were not examined for this research.

Abstract

The literature on branding of educational institutions is still under development, so far there has been no research showing university branding. Research that has quantitative variations that have branding with other variables in the context of business organizations. This study aims to explore the formation of branding in vocational higher education institutions in the tourism sector.  Data were taken using Focus Group Discussion and interviews from tourism stakeholders.  This study uses thematic analysis, namely open coding and axial coding.  The results show that there are main attributes in the formation of branding, namely identity, alumni, management aspects, quality of human resources and products and competitiveness.  With the formation of these branding attributes, this research contributes to the measurement of tourism vocational education branding

Abstract

Implementing health protocols is one of the hotel industry's survival strategies in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although many studies have examined the importance of management strategies in dealing with disasters in the context of the Covid-19, there has been no study analyse the level of guest satisfaction on the preparedness of star hotels during the 'New Normal Era in Bandung, West Java. This research was conducted to evaluate guest satisfaction on star hotels' preparedness by collecting data from guests who had stayed during the pandemic. Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) by sampling 100 respondents was used to assess guest satisfaction with performance, especially within the star hotel section, then dividing the results into four quadrants (Priority, Maintain, Low priority, and Excessive) and Guest satisfaction determine by using Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). IPA analysis results show most of hotel section have implemented the preparedness health protocol that exceeds guests' expectations. Measurement of the guest satisfaction index shows guests are very satisfied with star hotels' preparedness in reducing the risk of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, star-hotels still need improve the preparedness by adapting and innovating service through technology.

Abstract

The use of technology today in various sectors of life is very high, this can also seen from the needs and improvements provided by this digital service. Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the organizations that builds and improves online information today. The Covid-19 pandemic had a considerable effect on the use of this technology with the imposition of large-scale physical distancing, this depends on various sectors that exist today, especially the tourism sector. Therefore, it has a big impact on tourism activities / activities, both on a national and international scale (foreign) who will visit tourist spots / destinations. Augmented Reality has various features that support in various fields, one of which is traveling. The scientific and theoretical studies in this study provide a useful reference source for developers of mobile AR applications, tourism managers, and effective marketing strategies in facing the new normal era today. So that tourism businesses or tourist destinations better understand user preferences for mobile AR applications and others that are able to maintain behavior can still enjoy travel with their impulsivity in the context of tourism as a result.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the strategic assumptions of Belawan Ceramics Market with a descriptive method approach. By compiling results from the perspective of customers and traders, this study analyzes strategic assumptions with the SWOT analysis tool. The results showed that consumers who came were consumers who had repeatedly visited the Ceramic Market, but the loyalty of visitors decreased for the fourth visit. Tourist considerations for visiting the Belawan Ceramics Market are diverse types of merchandise, traditional bargaining systems, interactions with direct traders, as well as structuring shopping space that is not rigid with social accessibility in the form of local community acceptance (especially traders) towards foreigners. From the SWOT analysis conducted, it was found that the strategies that could be carried out to develop the Belawan ceramics market were: opening stores early, adding collections of unique items, expanding promotions through social media, pentahelix synergy for more effective development, price competition considerations in accordance with the quality of the goods being marketed, complementing supporting tourism utilities such as lighting facilities and increasing the role of government and community self-help to increase the sense of security for visitors / tourists.

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze the position of the development tourist destination of Taman Wisata Iman Sitinjo at Dairi Regency. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The technique of data collection of this research was through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation methods. The results of this study indicated that the position of developing tourist destinations in Taman Wisata Iman Sitinjo was in a stagnation position. In this phase, the challenges that will be faced by managers in the development of the Taman Wisata Iman Sitinjo were by creating new innovations, they are :  (1) Involving local communities related to development in order to create new innovations, (2) Conducting trainings, seminars and meetings that can improve the quality of the performance of officers in service, (3) Identify or evaluate the performance of freelance daily workers, (4) Build and improve tourism facilities and infrastructure maintenance, (5) Organize new attractions both naturally, man-made and culturally, and (6) Creating a simple Internet Reservation System (IRS) to facilitate online checking, ordering and payment. It was concluded that the position of developing tourist destinations in the Taman Wisata Iman Sitinjo was in the stagnation stage based on the facts on the ground.

Abstract

Sigapiton Village is one of the villages designated as a tourist village in Toba Regency based on the decision of the Toba Regent Number 665 of 2020, Sigapiton Village is designated as a Tourism Village. Sigapiton Tourism Village has the potential of a tourist attraction, but has not been developed to its full potential. This study aims to identify and describe the profile of potential tourist attractions owned by Sigapiton Tourism Village, identify and analyze internal and external factors that influence the development of Sigapiton Tourism Village, and develop tourism development strategies in Selulung Tourism Village. This study uses a qualitative method with the analysis of IFE, EFE, IE. Data collection was done by observation, interviews, Focus Group Discussion, giving questionnaires, examining documents and literature studies. The tourism potential of the Sigapiton Tourism Village is the potential for natural, cultural and man-made tourist attractions. Internal factors that influence the development of the Sigapiton Tourism Village are its natural and cultural attractions, tourism facilities, human resources and commitment to building a tourist village. External factors that influence are market trends (alternative tourism), well-known tourist destinations (Situmurun waterfall), Sister Village has been established between Silima Lombu and Sigapiton Tourism Village, and support from the government. The development strategy that can be applied in the Sigapiton Tourism Village is to develop tour packages that prioritize culture, art, local traditions, and agro-tourism, create interesting content marketing and carry out promotions, and build synergy with the surrounding tourist villages in Ajibata sub-district, Kabupaten Sigapiton. Abstract

Simatupang Village is a village located in Muara Sub-district, North Tapanuli Regency.. Simatupang Village has great potential for the application of the ecotourism concept because of its abundant natural resources and strong culture, but it is not well managed. The purpose of this research is to find out the concept of ecotourism in Simatupang Village and to find out the development of sustainable tourism in Simatupang Village. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and literature study, and the data analysis technique used was descriptive qualitative analysis. The concept of ecotourism in Simatupang Village is an ecotourism concept based on nature conservation and utilizing the environment and culture inherent in the community as a tourist destination that can increase income and prosper the community.

Abstract

Ulin Barong Sekeloa is one of art culture were born from the local community in Bandung has been designated as an intangible cultural heritage of West Java Province from Bandung City. The meaning of Ulin is to play, Sirah Barong is the head of the barong, and Sekeloa is the name of a place in Bandung. This attraction is accompanied by traditional Sundanese musical instruments with an accompaniment of 12 peoples. Ulin Barong Sekeloa has appeared since 1885, the pioneer figure was Muhamad Tharwi and the development was carried out by Atjeng Sulaeman who is a living figure of Ulin Barong Sekeloa. The aim of the research is to describe the Ulin Barong Sekeloa for the preservation of traditional art culture and the potential for quality Bandung City cultural tourism attractions, especially for improving the economy of artists after the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used is descriptive analytic by exploring the potential of the Ulin Barong Sekeloa attraction to become a Cultural Tourism Attraction in Bandung City. The results show that the community empowerment ecosystem has made Ulin Barong Sekeloa one of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bandung city still exists until today which has the potential to become a cultural tourism attraction which can become a quality cultural destination in Bandung City. The conclusion obtained is that the existence of Ulin Barong Sekeloa until now has been formed from the results of the adaptation of society to changing times as the spearhead of the conservation of Ulin Barong Sekeloa.
