Abstract

Electricity is a very crucial thing in human life today such as for communications, education, offices, household appliances, and transportation. Unfortunately, most of the electricity in Indonesia is still generated by fossil fuels such as coal. Indonesia which is on the equator has an advantage in solar power generation. Every area in Indonesia gets sunlight for a full year. In this paper, we develop a 1.62 kWp solar power plant at the Hubbul Khoir Islamic Boarding School Indonesia. Energy generated from solar panels is used to support the hydroponic farming system owned by the Islamic boarding school. Economic analysis is used to find out whether the installed generating system is profitable or not. Power quality analysis is used to determine whether the load can be supplied with good power quality. The results obtained by the monitoring system can monitor the PV output power and the power to the load with a display on the LCD screen and on the web with overall accuracy above 96%, economic analysis results show that the system will return on investment after 6.8 years with a profit in the 25th year of Rp20,871,282, and quality the power in this system has good power quality from the PLN side and the inverter side.

Abstract

Chicken or duck farming is one of the businesses that has good prospects. Conventional hatching of chicken or duck eggs has its own risks with a hatching success percentage of <81%. The hen or duck also needs time for further breeding because they have to incubate the eggs first. Egg incubators on the market usually use on-off controls to regulate incandescent lights which can cause the temperature to fluctuate. Air humidity settings are also manually set by the user. Researchers have conducted studies related to temperature and humidity settings. This article reviews articles from the Scopus database related to control systems in egg incubator with research questions: controlled parameters, sensors used, control theory, methods, and research results that have been carried out. The result of this article can provide an overview of the research development related to egg incubator control systems.

Abstract

DC generator with variable rotation will produce uncontrolled voltage, causing problems in its utilization. In this study, it is proposed to develop a voltage control on the generator, in order to produce a fairly controllable and reliable voltage, with an analog circuit using a multistage comparator. Control of the generator output voltage is carried out by adjusting the field current from a separate voltage source which is forwarded to the resistance which is regulated based on the generator output voltage level with a multilevel comparison system. The results obtained are the output voltage ranges from 26 to 30 Volts and the output current ranges from 3 to 20 Amperes. This provides operational safety for the generator and battery. This technology can be used in dc generator systems in automotive engines, windmills, and other power plants.

Abstract

Synthetic nanoparticles are the process of making particles with a size of less than 100 nm and changing the properties of the material so that it can be improved to improve the usability of new products. One method that can be used is the arc discharge method in water, which is a synthetic method of nanoparticles, which is very simple because it does not require complicated equipment. This study uses graphene as an electrode, which is then immersed in water and mounted horizontally. Current and voltage monitoring is carried out during the arc discharge process using a Hall-based current sensor and the voltage is measured directly between the two electrodes. Variations in input current of 10A, 40A, 70A, and 100A affect the arc formed, current and voltage, and ionization energy. Monitoring with OES is also carried out to determine the shape of the plasma, and the wavelength when the arc occurs. The results obtained that the current has more effective and optimal results in synthesizing nanoparticles.

Abstract

Solar energy is very easy to get in Indonesia because it is located in the tropics and equatorial regions. With the abundance of solar energy, the PLTS system is very suitable for use in Indonesia. Apart from these advantages, the microgrid system with a PV mini-grid still has drawbacks, namely intermittent sun exposure, so the reliability of the PV mini-grid system is affected by time, climate, and weather. Therefore, the PLTS system requires electrical energy storage technology in the form of batteries. In addition to the use of batteries, the use of battery electric vehicles (BEV) can also be used as an alternative to help supply power to the microgrid system. Its application uses the Vehicle to Grid (V2G) and Grid to Vehicle (G2V) methods. In this study, the design of the V2G and G2V systems was made with the Smart Switching method as an alternative power source to the microgrid system. The Smart Switching method is used to consider the condition of the battery to prevent overheating, overcharging, and deep discharging. It is equipped with a battery condition monitoring system that can be monitored on the LCD screen. The results of this study showed that the design of the V2G and G2V switching systems can run according to the plan. The system can provide power to the microgrid busbar. The system can automatically cut off when the maximum temperature, the upper and lower limits of the battery voltage, and the monitoring system can provide information in the form of battery conditions, temperature values, voltages, and currents. Thus, the V2G and G2V systems with the Smart Switching method can already be applied as an alternative power source to the microgrid system.

Abstract

Unit commitment (UC) is the scheduling of on-off operation of a power plant unit to meet the demand for electrical power over a certain period of time in order to obtain an economical total cost of generation The PL method is used for scheduling and the AG is optimized using DOE for ED problems. The results obtained from the research that there are still improvements in the calculation of ED problems using load flow constraints and can be corrected. The results of the comparison of the total percentage cost of IEEE 6 buses used in ED problems without considering the load flow constraints with those considering this problem amounted to 26.30%. The result of the comparison of the total percentage cost of IEEE 14 buses used in ED problems without considering load flow constraints with those considering this problem is 11.55%. The load flow calculation using Newton-Rapshon uses a smaller number of iterations and a shorter time than Gauss-Seidel.

Abstract

One of the greatest potential for renewable energy comes from solar energy. In Indonesia, the potential for solar energy can reach 3.294 GWP. This amount is very large when compared to other renewable energy production potentials. However, the problem with the solar power plant system is that the production of energy produced is influenced by time, weather, location, and the efficiency of the system can affect energy. This study discusses from the design process, estimation of energy production, and monitoring data on PV mini-grid. The calculation is done by estimation using PVsyst software. The monitoring system is made based on the specifications used. The design of this system is made to record data by measuring performance ratio and also calculating the efficiency of the system.
